"You not even the Mandarin..."

"When an actor has inhabited a role as long as I have, you often becomes it and it him."

Trevors still the Mandarin, it's complicated to explain but he's him.

"It's complicated, HEY! It's complicated."

SuperCat - 2/18/2014, 7:29 AM
LOL. Love Trevor related threads!

trevor and hammer are two of the most goofy characters from marvel studios universe. they are so clumsy that people love them. I wanna see more of both in future shorts films.
NightWatcher - 2/18/2014, 7:33 AM
The only reason why the site is acting up is because thier adding updates.

Nubase - 2/18/2014, 7:53 AM
they screwed up the mandarin, now they resort to this waste of nothingness

Marvel will reboot iron man in the future and the real mandarin will be seen
Nomis - 2/18/2014, 7:53 AM

Glad they are doing damage control on the Mandarin debacle. I guess i can relax and enjoy Iron Man 3 now. Thanx Marvel!
FerFogs - 2/18/2014, 8:23 AM
Awesome one-shot. Loved it.

DAMAGE CONTROL MODE.....ON!
GodzillaKart - 2/18/2014, 8:26 AM
I'll wait until I can watch the whole thing.

I'm curious to see what Marvel has done. IMO, the Mandarin, as presented in IM3, is the best incarnation of the character in any media to date. It was cutting social commentary and brilliantly conceived. If Marvel manages to keep all of that intact, while including an (unnecessary) "real" Mandarin, I'll be open to it.

I'm a bit worried they are [frick]ing up the pretty amazing IM3 all to satisfy a few whelping fan boys.

really funny one shot, not long now until thor the dark world is released.

If you click the "thumbs up", the problem with the thread seems to go away. Not sure why.
Bl00dwerK - 2/18/2014, 8:37 AM
Yeah, site's acting stupid...
JoeMomma29 - 2/18/2014, 8:37 AM
So silly if you wanted to address the Mandarin thing why stick this on the Thor set, they should have included something like this on the IM3 disc set release.......that clearly shows this was not planned out but pure back peddling to attempt to fix a mess.
TheDarkKnightSlap - 2/18/2014, 8:39 AM
This is useless.
continuezero - 2/18/2014, 8:40 AM
I wonder if they would have made this if their Mandarin Debacle wasn't so criticised? I appreciate the Fan Service so at least they are kind of admitting the mistake....somewhat.
Bread - 2/18/2014, 8:41 AM
@Godzilla- You're right, it does. That's weird.
Bread - 2/18/2014, 8:43 AM
They shouldn't try to redeem themselves for that horrible mistake. They should just pretend that IM3 never happened.
GodzillaKart - 2/18/2014, 8:52 AM
Putting aside personal feeling for a moment, it's weird that Marvel chose this route. Outside of Fanboy sites like this one, IM3 was critically well received and financially huge. Not considered "a mess" in any way. No back peddling necessary.

However, I haven't seen the short yet. It may just be great and support everything that happened in IM3.
SauronsBANE - 2/18/2014, 8:53 AM
"You'll neverrrrrrr seeee meeeee cominggggggg"
SauronsBANE - 2/18/2014, 8:57 AM
If you choose to believe what Drew Pierce has said, they were thinking of this idea while they were still in the middle of filming, before the fanboy backlash against the Mandarin ever came up. I bet they were planning on Sir Ben Kingsley reprising his role as Trevor in this short, but who knows if they were actually planning on having the REAL Mandarin show up.

That said, I really didn't mind this short at all. Kingsley is obviously loving his role as Trevor, and I didn't really see it as back-peddling so much as expanding on the events that happened in Iron Man 3. I thought it was pretty great.
miklonus - 2/18/2014, 8:59 AM
More marvel lameness. Didn't they neuter this guy? Didn't they make him non-asian, and even an impostor at that? Why the fuc_ would they further rub/add salt in the wound and make a half-ass direct-to-video short movie out of him?
miklonus - 2/18/2014, 9:02 AM
"Kingsley is obviously loving his role as Trevor"
Kingsley is getting "PAID" to love his role as Trevor, dumbass. He was just in a movie that made a billion dollars. As an actor you love exposure like that. Because it gives you just that: exposure. Why wouldn't he like it? That role is far beneath him and he can out-act everybody in that movie, Downey included. And I have a high amount of regard for Downey, so that should tell you how good Kingsley is. Sexy Beast, Gandhi, House Of Sand And Fog. Acting 101.
SauronsBANE - 2/18/2014, 9:06 AM
miklonus, Do us all a favor and find whatever stick is up your ass and pull it out. Are you really getting that upset over such an innocuous statement like "An actor is loving the role he was cast in"? Really? I get you're probably jaded and cynical now because of the emotional trauma you went through with Iron Man 3 and their interpretation of your beloved Mandarin, but come on. Come on back to reality, stop flipping out over harmless opinions, and move on.
charlie2094 - 2/18/2014, 9:09 AM
@miklonus

Marvel don't "rub" the salt so to speak, if anything, they're trying to soothe the wound, which they do.

Can Kingsley not love a role because he's paid? Don't see the logic there, yeah he was paid for it, but he didn't have to return for All Hail the King, that was optional, and is only something that the fans and such will watch...it is quite clear watching it and Iron Man 3 that Kingsley enjoys playing Trevor, looks to have a lot of fun with it, especially with all the accent bloopers from IM3 and such
