In a recent interview with HitFix Ben Kingsley Reveals that he misses "The Mandarin" :

"I missed Trevor,The script was so beautiful. I never changed a line or distorted it. I might have added some nuance or rhythm to it that was perhaps unexpected even to Drew but I didn't stray off it at all, I love telling the story. I love being useful to the telling of the story - and his story was so charming in a way. Trevor's a very vulnerable man.And he's a great survivor. Even in prison, he creates his own environment. It's always good to find something in a character you admire and I admire Trevor's capacity to survive and adapt. He's a chameleon."

All Hail The King was released on the digital download release of Thor: The Dark World on February 4, 2014, and on February 25, 2014 for the Blu-ray release. The film stars Ben Kingsley reprising his role as Trevor Slattery from Iron Man 3, Scoot McNairy as Jackson Norriss, a member of the Ten Rings terrorist cell posing as a documentary filmmaker, Lester Speight as Herman, and Sam Rockwell reprising his role as Justin Hammer. The short is written and directed by Drew Pearce, the co-screenwriter of Iron Man 3

Chameleon eh? Maybe Trevor was Chameleon.
MrCBM56 - 2/27/2014, 6:15 AM
Let's move on. Please.
Pasto - 2/27/2014, 6:16 AM
Haha sorry. That made me laugh. MrCBM wants to avoid a fight. I say bring the fight, I could use one.

You gotta relax man. Go with the flow.

I liked Ironman 3, but Ben Kinsley was wasted for nothing.

Such great actor and such a great opportunity wasted.
kylo0607 - 2/27/2014, 6:32 AM
The twist was funny, but I still can't believe how misleading the whole marketing campaign of this movie was. From the teaser trailer to the last TV spot, they made us think that Ben Kingsley would be the Mandarin. He even had lines that weren't in the movie. Still don't understand why Marvel Studios did this. At least they could have told us from the very beginning that Kinglsey will play just an actor. False advertising usually doesn't get accepted well by the audience and Marvel should have known that.
MrCBM56 - 2/27/2014, 6:40 AM

What? No. I'm saying let's move on from this whole Mandarin thing because it was a huge missed opportunity. And the more I hear the actor and producers saying they loved what they did with it, the more I find it funny they tried to correct their problems with All Hail The King. The Mandarin is a joke.
MrCBM56 - 2/27/2014, 6:41 AM

And my first comment was directed towards you.
marvel72 - 2/27/2014, 6:42 AM
he's a chameleon? so he now claims to be another super villain.

Man, you have to chill. Live a little. If a fight breaks out, let it break out.
McNyagano - 2/27/2014, 7:00 AM
He was great in IM3 and AHTK;)
GizmoEl - 2/27/2014, 7:02 AM
@venom The twist couldn't possibly of been advertised. That takes away the shock factor of the twist.
charlie2094 - 2/27/2014, 7:07 AM
Shame he was so wasted, but he was great in the role!

Hopefully, given the events of All Hail the King, we'll get to see him again
MrCBM56 - 2/27/2014, 7:11 AM

What are you talking about? I'm chill.
Bekss - 2/27/2014, 7:14 AM
Stop with this. Everyone knows that half of the comicbook fans hated IM3 and the regular people (like 90% of all the people) loved it. Let's move on

I fail to see how being a substance abusing junky who gives fellatio to support his habit is charming. If anything, the character is repugnant.
sameoldthing - 2/27/2014, 7:21 AM
Umm..rather him be a hard core terrorist that was a credible threat to Iron Man than the silly actor guy he turned out to be.
Wasted opportunity for a great villan, got a kooky twist instead. So sad.
ManofSteel23 - 2/27/2014, 7:31 AM
mandarin should of been involved with the guy that kidnapped tony in the first movie and his rings should of been something from the aliens from avengers, and you could of had extremis plot separate from the mandarin and had them come together at the end,now THAT would of been a movie

I'm the lone biker of the apocalypse.
Pedrito - 2/27/2014, 7:46 AM
A great actor.
But apparently if he doesn't shoot lasers out of his fingers, he's a waste.

Nahh.. Long live Trevor!
ThrotTheUnclean - 2/27/2014, 7:49 AM
A great actor wasted because he didn't shoot lasers out of his fingers. It was a waste of a bad guy. I wish this movie never got made. I would rather have not had a Mandarin than the one we got.
Nomis - 2/27/2014, 7:49 AM
Man, they STILL trying to SPIN the mess they made???????????

Let it go, move on. You BLEW IT...BIG TIME but now it's time to move on.
TenCentPistol - 2/27/2014, 7:51 AM
Anyone who thinks that Bin Kingsley was wasted has no idea about anything that Feige has planned for the MCU.
We will se him again, and it will blow your minds. That dude will seriously [frick] shit up.
maninfinesuit - 2/27/2014, 7:56 AM
@Batmaniac I'm assuming that Kingsley doesn't mean that Trevor is traditionally charming, but more in that would-be-endearing ne'er-do-well way. Like this guy.

Nixaliz - 2/27/2014, 8:01 AM
Hey Fanboys, do you realize that if Marvel made movies to accommodate your tastes these movies would be total flops with the general movie going public. IM3 was the 5th highest grossing movie OF ALL TIME! Do you think Marvel really cares about your complaints? The general audience LOVED the Slattery twist, and that's why they made AHTK. And because IM3 was such a huge hit we're going to see a Phase 4 and 5 and 6. So please stop whining. Like Pedrito said, "Long live Trevor"
Pasto - 2/27/2014, 8:06 AM
I gotta admit, I'm impressed by the people that'll spin this into a positive.
Pasto - 2/27/2014, 8:07 AM
It takes balls to turn a negative into something positive.
Facade - 2/27/2014, 8:09 AM
This is why actors & directors opinions about characters snd movies are mostly bullshit...they 're salesmen,
Pasto - 2/27/2014, 8:14 AM
I smell smoke...
dirtydanwojo - 2/27/2014, 8:16 AM
Just no pleasing some people. A lot of Phase 1 was criticized for being predictable, so now that Marvel's trying to surprise people, what with Trevor and Loki (and I'm betting we don't yet know everything about Cap 2), they get hate for it.
Pasto - 2/27/2014, 8:19 AM
There's predictable in a positive way, 'an predictable in a negative way.
supermarioworldE - 2/27/2014, 8:20 AM
I admire Trevor's ability to be more imposing than the actual mandarin.
Pasto - 2/27/2014, 8:20 AM
I think I meant unpredictable. F*** this keyboard.
