The Walt Disney & Marvel Studios' picture directed by Shane Black is set for a monster debut in its opening weekend in US, starting May 3rd. A few week ago, tracking suggested a $125 million bow, but according to The Wrap, that number just went up. With little over a week until Iron Man 3 is released in North America, the film is now tracking at $160M opening weekend:
"Box-office tracking on ’Iron Man 3’ is now on target for a whopping $160 million debut in the U.S. That the Marvel superhero movie would be a blockbuster and the year's biggest opener to date has been a given for months, but analysts' expectations for its domestic debut have spiked ahead of this week's international rollout. ’Iron Man 3’ opens in Australia, France, Italy and eight other countries on Wednesday and in roughly 25 more foreign markets over the weekend. It will debut in China on the same day it does in the U.S., Disney said Wednesday."
Right now, everything is possible as far as box office goes for Iron Man 3. The Avengers' success is still very much in the air, and people are definitely looking forward to Phase Two of Marvel Cinematic Universe. Stay tuned next week for box office updates.
