Brian Tyler On Scoring IRON MAN 3; Reactions Surface

Including early reactions to the Iron Man 3 score, quotes from composer and conductor Brian Taylor have surfaced detailing his praised musical arrangement for the Marvel threequel. Check it out!

Four weeks ahead of the Marvel actioner thriller’s worldwide release, Disney’s Hollywood Records recently offered details for the original Iron Man 3 soundtrack via the composer and conductor himself, Brian Taylor. In addition, Disney also provided Track Sounds and Ain’t It Cool NewsScoreKeeper with promos of Taylor’s score, for which they've tweeted their reactions.

Marvel Music/Hollywood Records will release the original motion picture soundtrack for “Iron Man 3” on April 30, 2013. Brian Tyler composed & conducted the original score. Tyler said, “When Marvel & Shane Black approached me about scoring ‘Iron Man 3,’ I was thrilled as a long-time fan of the series and super hero films in general. We all wanted this score to have a deeply thematic component with a strong melody. We felt that the story would lend itself best to go classic and use the orchestra as the main voice of the music, with horns & trumpets singing the new Iron Man theme in a strong way. I conducted the London Philharmonic at Abbey Road in order to give the score a sound that felt powerful enough to live up to its name. Shane Black was very supportive & collaborative in his vision for the film & the score, and Kevin Feige was also a kindred spirit in really reaching for something special. Both of them are incredible film score buffs, and we all spoke the same film music language, which made for an awesome experience. In the end we went for a score that echoed the classics of super hero film history with a few surprises like a wild 1960s style main title piece that was an absolute blast to record.”

After listening to the score, Track Sounds says, “Suffice it to say, those things you loved best from the scores of The Dark Knight, The Amazing Spider-Man, and even The Avengers all come together here with Brian Tyler tying it all together with his signature sound. You might say, "Wha?" "Huh?" But you can just stop that now and do some trusting. It's quite a ride...with a final track that you are NOT expecting...but will probably love.”

Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man? Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, “Iron Man 3” is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce & Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of “Tales of Suspense” (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with “The Invincible Iron Man” (#1) in May of 1968. “Iron Man 3” is presented by Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Pictures & DMG Entertainment. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing & Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Victoria Alonso, Alan Fine, Charles Newirth, Stan Lee & Dan Mintz are executive producers. The film hits May 3, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Marvel Studios will also release “Thor: The Dark World ” on November 8, 2013; “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” on April 4, 2014; “Guardians of the Galaxy” on August 1, 2014; the sequel to “Marvel's The Avengers” on May 1, 2015; and “Ant-Man” on November 6, 2015!

I would love to hear this again. One of the best superhero themes ever.

A good movie needs a good score.
pro346 - 4/5/2013, 3:15 PM
So I liked nothing about the avengers score so if its like that it must be shit! Let's hope its more tdkr than generic elevator music avengers score.
jerryblake - 4/5/2013, 3:15 PM
try this one. Hope you like it
thewonderer - 4/5/2013, 3:29 PM
All MCU music has sucked ass with major but few exceptions. Caps star spangled man is one fantastic tune.
Jollem - 4/5/2013, 3:47 PM
the only music i care about will be the delicious sound of junior's constant one-liners :)
poop23 - 4/5/2013, 3:48 PM
As long as it goes with the other ironman films i'll be happy. Driving with the top down is the best, fits the character and is something different from the usual same old orchestra music like the avengers had

Surely he meant Danny Elfman's Spider-Man and not James Horner's The Amazing Spider-Man... right? Nothing against Horner.
StupidFatHobbit - 4/5/2013, 4:02 PM
@MARVELPSYCHO79 TASM had the best score out of all the superhero films that came out last year....
95 - 4/5/2013, 4:04 PM
@MARVELPSYCHO79 beat me to it. I mean TASM's score was fitting for the film's atmosphere, but hearing that it inspired/similar to Tyler's score is unexciting.

hahahaha theyoungman has spat his dummy out hahahahaha
Torsen - 4/5/2013, 5:18 PM
This sounds good. I'm interested in what they come up with. It'll be interesting to have an Iron Man score with more of a theme and more of an emphasis on the orchestra.
Benjamitesandwich - 4/5/2013, 5:30 PM
Brian Tyler is an amazing composer. Here, have a taste with what we could possibly have with Iron Man 3.

Benjamitesandwich - 4/5/2013, 5:32 PM
Absolute gorgeousness.
Benjamitesandwich - 4/5/2013, 5:35 PM
This one is definitely one of my favorites.

thewonderer - 4/5/2013, 5:56 PM
TASM was the worst score in cinema history
Benjamitesandwich - 4/5/2013, 6:00 PM
^^^ Well, either someone has only seen a few movies his entire life or they know absolutely nothing about music.
thewonderer - 4/5/2013, 6:18 PM
You know which score is so horrendously underrated?

Henry Jackmans first class score. The magneto theme rivals the imperial march IMO And no one knows of it
LexHairFight - 4/5/2013, 6:48 PM
I've seen terrible movies with decent soundtracks and enjoyed myself.
Lego - 4/5/2013, 7:23 PM
i highly doubt the score is anything but a generic waste
