FAN ART: IRON MAN's 50th Anniversary Featuring Suits For Each Year Of Publication

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Iron Man, artist Allan Whincup has created this cool-looking piece of art titled "50 For 50" where you can see a lot of different suits (for each year of publication). Check it out after the jump...

And here is what the artist had to say about this piece:

"Iron Man's 50th is fast approaching. Here's a suit for each year of publication. Have fun figuring out what each of them does and where they appeared!

Thanks to Flicks and Bits for the heads up.

starkresilient - 2/18/2013, 12:17 PM

spidey1994 - 2/18/2013, 12:20 PM
Awesome! But I'm surprised, I seen no armours from the movies.

this was my favorite growing up for some reason:

SuperDude001 - 2/18/2013, 12:26 PM
That's pretty fricking awesome!
(Idk why but this has somehow convinced me that I wanna see the Hulkbuster and Ultimate armour in the MCU...)

@ Greengo
"Be honest, does this outfit flatter my thighs?"
marvel72 - 2/18/2013, 12:39 PM
@ greengo

its my favorite as well, from way back in iron man 200.
BlackFlash - 2/18/2013, 12:47 PM
The only problem I have with the suits in the movie are we don't get to see them for enough time before they get destroyed or a new one shows up.

Would have loved to see the Mark V in flight, also now that I see and remember how that mask closed makes me think thats how the new War Machine one closes.

You all have very good taste : )

lol @Crimson

Hmm, cool ass concept, wish someone like Frank Cho, Joe MAD, or Ed McGuinness would do one of these. Also what's with that weird Doc Strange/Dr. Fate looking one in the top left.
NoAssemblyReqd - 2/18/2013, 1:11 PM
@BlackFlash I didn't think the suitcase armor in IM2 could fly -- Tony had sacrificed flyability for portability. Otherwise he could have flown above Vanko and taken him out from a safer position.

I agree, Tony goes through suits in the movies like a supermodel through dresses, but I guess that's the tradeoff when you only have two hours of movie every couple of years to show off new tech (versus the monthly schedule of comics).

@ jduke25

you are the man posting that hulk vs hulkbuster armour image.
croniccris - 2/18/2013, 1:58 PM
Gusto u go thru as many pairs of grape smugglers as tony goes thru as many bottles of good whiskey. Now that sounds more likely to me...unless they are actually MADE of iron then they would probably take about a year to rust out.
Matador - 2/18/2013, 2:02 PM
Did not know Dr. Strange had an Iron Armour?
Azrael725 - 2/18/2013, 2:20 PM
The War Machine armor will always be my favorite.
IronDean2099 - 2/18/2013, 2:21 PM
Can someone please elaborate on the green/yellow suit in the bottom left?
DeathAdder - 2/18/2013, 2:37 PM
@IronDean2099, that's the Iron Lantern armor. In the 90s DC and Marvel had a crossover and did the Amalgam universe and Iron Man and Green Lantern were combined into one character.
IronDean2099 - 2/18/2013, 3:31 PM
@DeathAdder Thanks. I saw that suit once in the Everything Vs Everything Mugen in a random character pack. I thought it was fan made.
IronDean2099 - 2/18/2013, 3:33 PM
Oh, and Modular armor all the way. Although I do like the new black and gold one and love the Bleeding Edge.
THEDREAM - 2/18/2013, 3:49 PM
Your drawing's lookin good.
Marqy - 2/18/2013, 4:46 PM

Me too .... Modular definetly mainly because of the 90s cartoon

And also the new black and gold and of course my favorite .. the extremis ... With extremis, Iron man became sooo powerful it was too awesome, he could take on multiple heroes at once with ease
CharlesLord - 2/18/2013, 6:31 PM
wheres the stark resilient armor?
Oxbow - 2/18/2013, 8:40 PM
mark 47 + 3 iron man movies= 50 years of IM comics.

ShakeNBake - 2/18/2013, 9:28 PM
Mark V classic gold and red is and shall always be the best
mgeoff88 - 2/18/2013, 10:15 PM
That's incredible! My favorite armor is the Stealth armor.

NapalmdencH - 2/19/2013, 2:54 AM
@Greengo It's all about the Silver Centurion suit! :D Was cool to kind of see it in Iron Man 2, when it came out of a brief case (my mind was blown)!
pepe - 2/19/2013, 6:49 AM
He´s had a 50th anniversary every year????? ....Its written very strange.
Bread - 2/19/2013, 12:08 PM

birdfists - 2/19/2013, 1:40 PM
