Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy's hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, “Iron Man 3” is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce and Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of “Tales of Suspense” (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with “The Invincible Iron Man” (#1) in May of 1968.

“Iron Man 3” is presented by Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Pictures and DMG Entertainment. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing and Jon Favreau, Louis D'Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Victoria Alonso, Alan Fine, Charles Newirth, Stan Lee and Dan Mintz are executive producers. The film releases May 3, 2013, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

I think Shane Black did a great job with Iron Man 3. Kudos to him. Couldn't have been a better start to Phase 2. I love how Kevin Feige and Marvel keep the directors in line so the movies in MCU are cohesive and connected, unlike Fox.

Good stuff guys!

I love that this site has grown from an amateur basement run site to one where guys are now sitting down for interviews with directors, actors and Kevin Feige as well as going to premier screenings and all that stuff.

Good interview. Man, I'm tired of waiting to see this! Next week can't come fast enough.
cmax - 4/26/2013, 9:55 AM
Couple bootlegs out now, except not with English audio.

I'm hoping an English one hits soon. That'll tide me over until Friday.
thewonderer - 4/26/2013, 10:06 AM
So can we all now judge ALL CBMs on actual movie quality foremost?

Comic book movies need to be great, they need to be, and judging by RT IM3 is great.

Comic accuracy is definitely still important, but come on you guys, appreciate a great film BASED on the comics.

And this goes for all good CBMs (Nolans Batman, Singers X-Men, Raimi's Spider-Man)

ComicBookMovie - 4/26/2013, 10:15 AM
This was all done on a flip video. These kinds of interviews are 10 minute quickies with no time to set up a professonal rig. Most of the reporters aren't even filming it. So, you get what you get.

dadisatish - 4/26/2013, 11:15 AM
i have seen iron man 3......tea said that it is on par with avengers....but it is not that great.... entertaining film but not a lot of action ...but not great action... there is no scene that hyped me up....i never felt like wow that was cool....may be because there is nothing new....i don't want to spoil it....if you get too hyped up you will be disappointed....sometimes too much comedy can be bad scenes that are serious had to be left serious...but are spoiled by one liner gags...
PenditaMarah - 4/26/2013, 11:58 AM
Just watched ironman 3.I'm sorry guys, this movie.....oh my god...mandarin? oh my god. Mandarin was a big let down.all those ironmen are nothing than wasted.I'm sorry guys for the mild spoiler.
musashi - 4/26/2013, 12:03 PM
Iron Man 3 is awesome! I've always liked Shane Black's writing. Lethal Weapon, Long Kiss Goodnight, Last Boyscout, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang are all enjoyable action comedies. RDJ is fantastic as Tony Stark. He displays his arrogance, his charm, his intelligence and his desire to be a better man.

I understand the criticisms because it won't please everybody but it is funny, creative, and action packed. The third act doesn't disappoint and is well thought out and a satisfying conclusion to the trilogy.

A thoroughly enjoyable comic book movie for me.
MrCBM56 - 4/26/2013, 12:03 PM

You understand that even though it's based off a comicbook, doesn't mean it have to be excatly like the comics? The MCU and comics are different universes, you want The Mandarin so bad go read a comicbook and stop trolling.
musashi - 4/26/2013, 12:07 PM
@gotham Is that all you took from IM3? In 5 years they will reboot Iron Man and the story will be different.
musashi - 4/26/2013, 12:10 PM
What? You can't complain about all heroes and villains not done right. You'd be online forever. Just enjoy it as a movie.
skidz - 4/26/2013, 12:15 PM
For anyone who thinks the action isn't up to par with the Avengers, look at this way, the Avengers had the ENTIRE cast to take on an entire army. Tony's on his own most of the time in this movie. Proportionally speaking, the action could actually be bigger in this one.
PenditaMarah - 4/26/2013, 12:19 PM
But still,I was a little disappointed about the ironmen.they just....arghhh...wasted,man.I was almost scream when tony wore the red centurian until it was tear apart by the villanous the way,the action is just average.
LexHairFight - 4/26/2013, 1:36 PM
Is there some rule that everyone who likes Batman has to not like Iron Man 3? Certainly seems that way.

Apologies to the more sensible folks of course.
0bstreperous - 4/26/2013, 1:43 PM
@cmax ,Q gusto

somebody drop a link i wanna see this now
LEEE777 - 4/26/2013, 3:08 PM
IRON MAN 3 was much better than RISES but was no AVENGERS, not by a long shot!

... Just seen it :p
Silentman - 4/26/2013, 4:12 PM
Anyone else get a Tarantino vibe from Black in the way he talks and gestures? Not in a bad way mind you, he just seemed like QT to me.
Starkasm - 4/26/2013, 6:13 PM
I actually agree with @wonderer
These flame wars are so lame lets all be happy we live in a time where multiple CBMs are released each year.
Starkasm - 4/26/2013, 6:13 PM
Good ones at that
Starkasm - 4/26/2013, 6:14 PM

I think that's why Iron Man 3 is so special to me, and in fact I see it as something that brings the genre of comic book movies to a whole new level: It does put less emphasis on the comic book, but more on the movie. We have the Iron Army, which on theory must be a very exciting on the big screen, but Black treats the element in a different, it's just something usual, and same goes to many other comic book-ish elements featured in it. Sounds disappointing, yes, and admittedly it isn't the fanorgasmic spectacle grandeur like most of Marvel Studios' outings are - especially for this being the follow-up to The Avengers - but what do we get in exchange? An extremely solid, well-written, and fittingly entertaining character piece. We don't see Stark much in his armor(s), but instead we see the whole, "Does the man make the hero?" theme being explored very deeply. And in a very amusing way, if may add, considering how it's not all that gloom and dark. It's really hard for me to talk more about it without spoiling some details, so I'll stop it there, but I'd say that Black did a terrific job in adapting the character. He just nails it.
Jolt17 - 4/27/2013, 2:21 AM
IWatchTheWatchmen: "...what's the point of removing what's so iconic about Tony stark. this film is called iron man not Tony stark was hardly in the suit...marvel getting lazy"

Did you even watch the movie closely 'till the end? I'm getting that you don't quite get what the movie tries to deliver.

And spot on, tea.
PenditaMarah - 4/27/2013, 3:58 AM
Hhave you seen the movie.I like the way shane black treat mandarin.
PenditaMarah - 4/27/2013, 4:08 AM
Have you seen the movie?I like the way shane black treat mandarin.veeerryyy straight from the comic.
Jolt17 - 4/27/2013, 8:28 AM
PenditaMarah: I have, and I do like it. I have some arguments - as well as some minor gripes about it - but that would be spoilerific, so I'll just keep it simple: It's an adaptation, and even though it's not perfect, overall I think they've created a smart spin for this incarnation of the character. We're living in an era where movies have pretty high standard on their own, and I can see these makers are challenging their own creativity to bring the comic book characters to the big screen in a way that will fit those standards, while also struggling to make them be able to be taken seriously, as a whole.

Interest level is now at 0%

I'll dvd/youtube it.
PenditaMarah - 4/27/2013, 9:39 PM
I thought it was just a good movie to watch and still enjoy to watch.little disappointed and I have some argument about this movie, but if shane keep the mandarin being menace from the start until end,I think it would be a good movie of iron man trilogy.

0bstreperous - 4/27/2013, 9:41 PM
This movie is effing terrible

Its hysterically terrible like peter sasguard in green lantern

O god...

Guys you know how like Steve carrel and Paul Rudd adlib there films sortov that's how bad this film was
PenditaMarah - 4/27/2013, 9:42 PM

Still not watching this movie?I guess you should watch it.this movie is enjoy and fun to watch.but, don't expect to much.
lucio7lopez - 4/27/2013, 10:08 PM
I'm still wanna watch this movie, but all the rumors are in really disappointed. I love the classic comics's Mandarin.
Jolt17 - 4/28/2013, 1:35 AM
Well, I think it's time for me to go to the spoilers territory, then. Do not highlight the texts, or even read anything in the Blockquote area below, if you want to know nothing.

I don't think Shane Black messed anything up. If you want a Mandarin that is a full menace from beginning till end, you've had it: It's Killian. He's claimed himself to be the Mandarin. Whether it is just symbolically basing on his actions or he is indeed the Mandarin himself is up for debate, but there you have it. Sure, that means that he becomes a Killian/Mallen/Mandarin combo in it, but the point stays, and the purpose of the character stays true. And moreover, Ben Kingsley is NOT the Mandarin. He's Trevor Slattery, that's it. Trevor may play the Mandarin, but Ben Kingsley has never been cast as the character, so nothing is truly screwed up. If you complain about it being totally different than what the clips and trailers showed us, then...well, it's a twist! You don't want everything to just be revealed there, don't you?

Well, there you go.
mastertae - 4/28/2013, 4:31 AM
Overall the movie was good (not Avengers good), but I have to say the Mandarin concept was corny. The character just wasn't well written.
ComixBookGuy - 4/29/2013, 4:32 AM
A shame for me I checked out the spoilers on another article. And I ruined my Iron Man 3 poster. I've been having a bad week =(
marccampos - 4/30/2013, 7:54 AM
I really don´t understand why Kevin Feige and Shane Black did such a bad and sad treatement in a great character like the Mandarin.

We always want to see Mandarin in the big screen, and Marvel did such a great job in other characters, who are even difficult to work with, such as Abomination, The Three Warriors, Captain America... they even show Asgard, Thanos... giant alien whales flying in the sky of new york... People already accept fantasy, they love The Avengers.. Why to do such o weird job with Mandarin? Just not to miss a joke? I don´t understand that...

A terrible start to this fase 2..

Here in Brazil, a lot of people alread saw the movie, and people are liking it. But the comic book fans are heart broken.. not all of then, of course, but as I have beeing seing, a good share of then, just like me.

I thought that Marvel Studios where a place where they treat his owne characters in the best way possible.. We see Fox,Universal,Sony make a lot of mistakes with then.. But hope that in Marvel Studios/Disney this wouldn´t happend it.

I think maybe, Robert Downey Jr. is turning to be so powerfull and maybe he said to much and show to much opinion and the result wasn´t very good... I think everyone should have his place doing the best they can.

I don´t know if that was what happend, but sometimes that´s how it looks, like when Tom Cruise, Halle Berry or Hugh Jackman do it sometimes.

I like the movie, I think was a funny and entertaining movie, but I really don´t undertand why did this to Mandarin.

Just an opinion. I don´t wanna disturb anyone, or pick up a fight, I´m just a fan and I wish things were better.. I got really sad when leave the theater, because I trusted Marvel Studios to do such amazing job and they always treat the character so well, and so much respect. I really didn´t understand why to do such a thing with Mandarin.

Best wishes for all.
