IRON MAN 3 Shoot Headed To INDIA; Marvel Also Scouting Country For THE AVENGERS Sequel?

In addition to being reportedly scouted for Marvel's The Avengers sequel, the Republic of India will apparently be utilized and filmed on-location for Iron Man 3 at the end of this month!

Though principal photography for Iron Man 3 was believed to be wrapping this month in the Capital of China, Beijing, the Hindustan Times is now reporting that extensive filming may take place in the Republic of India. Under Shane Black's direction, a group consisting of 12 people will soon fly to India, according to the trade source. “They will be here between January 20 and 24 for an extensive location hunt for certain scenes of the film. They will be visiting Hyderabad and Bengaluru to see how they can use this,” the source says, adding, “In the film, supposedly, Stark will be in India, and the techies here will help him with his technological problems.”

In addition to Iron Man 3, the Hindustan Times also reported, mid last year, that Marvel Studios and The Avengers director Joss Whedon plan to utilize India once more for the anticipated 2015 follow-up to last year's top money-maker. “Maharashtra and some locations up north have apparently been shortlisted as of now,” reveals the source. Anyhow, Iron Man 3 will soar into theaters in a little over 3 months, May 3, 2013; while The Avengers will reassemble on May 1, 2015.

Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3” pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man? Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, “Iron Man 3” is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce & Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of “Tales of Suspense” (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with “The Invincible Iron Man” (#1) in May of 1968. “Iron Man 3” is presented by Marvel Studios in association with Paramount Pictures & DMG Entertainment. Marvel Studios’ President Kevin Feige is producing & Jon Favreau, Louis D’Esposito, Stephen Broussard, Victoria Alonso, Alan Fine, Charles Newirth, Stan Lee & Dan Mintz are executive producers. The film hits May 3, 2013, & is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

Durf - 1/7/2013, 12:20 PM
Kinda cutting it close, but like @Nomis said this does happen often
Connerkentver1 - 1/7/2013, 12:24 PM
The only reason they are going back to India is fairly simple. ON MAY 3 SHAWARMA WILL BE EATEN.
AgentBobofHydra - 1/7/2013, 12:29 PM
Post credit scene filming you think???
Connerkentver1 - 1/7/2013, 12:34 PM
@AgentBobofHydra,That is correct. I bet it is Tony, Pepper, and Rhoadey getting down on Shwarma in the post credit sequence. Or maybe FALAFEL
SpoonWielder - 1/7/2013, 12:37 PM
@write33 They more than likely have all the shots they need for the digital effects department, my guess is the scene they'll be filming there is with just actors. Those take very little time to edit.
DrDoom - 1/7/2013, 12:37 PM

Definitely filming the shawarma scene.
santoanderson - 1/7/2013, 12:56 PM
Spoiler: The scene in India will be a massively choreographed musical/dance number.
themcdougalbugle - 1/7/2013, 12:57 PM
Only four months till it comes out.
DCjohnny - 1/7/2013, 1:02 PM
Shwarma and FALAFEL are not famous in India :-P ... maybe it could be for tandoori chicken and :-D

China and India, countries with more than a billion people each. That's some good marketing right there.

NostalgicYouth - 1/7/2013, 3:32 PM
How long have they been filming this movie?
RamonSuarez - 1/7/2013, 4:15 PM
LOL. How dumb are people?

Shwarma is Middle Eastern/North African cuisine, not South Asian.
RamonSuarez - 1/7/2013, 4:16 PM
People forget that RDJ's injury during filming threw the entire production schedule behind for weeks.
