Iron Patriot & Mark XLVII Armors In Full Glory On the IRON MAN 3 Set In Florida

Standing beside Tony Stark's Mark XLVII armor, James Rhodes' upgraded War Machine suit, the Iron Patriot has been spotted in full glory on the Iron Man 3 set in Dania Beach, Florida.

Earlier today, set photos from the resumption of filming for Iron Man 3, in Dania Beach, Florida, showcased the return of actor Robert Downey Jr., recovering from his ankle injury, and the latest armor of his genius playboy Tony Stark. While also teasing the Iron Patriot armor, which is said to be an upgraded version of (Don Cheadle) James Rhodes' War Machine suit, new photos via Daily Mail has uncovered both of their armors in full glory.

Described as a “technological crisis thriller,” set in the world of international war, arms & terror, Marvel Studios' “Iron Man 3” stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Dale Dickey, Ashley Hamilton, James Badge Dale, with Sir Ben Kingsley and Jon Favreau. Shane Black (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”) takes over directorial duties from Jon Favreau, who helmed the first two “Iron Man” films. Principal photography will occur primarily in North Carolina and China. And “Iron Man 3” is set for release in May 3, 2013.

Awesome! I actually really like both armors. :)
JDUKE25 - 10/1/2012, 6:21 PM
I guarantee there will be a line like, "Looks like Stark hooked Cap up with some armor of his own."

As for the suits, meh.... Still don't care for the new Mark suit.
JordanKing - 10/1/2012, 6:26 PM
Stark and Rogers' love child looks pretty damn great there. How far the suits have come since Iron Man 2..
DaenerysTargaryen - 10/1/2012, 6:26 PM
Looks like Stark hooked up with cap and this is their child :P

I love the difference between set photos and final product look. Here these look like plastic knockoffs (Look at some of the bolts), but you know on screen, even the non-CGI'ed versions will look fantastic.

CorronZenith30 - 10/1/2012, 6:38 PM
Not bad... has it been made official anywhere that the iron patriot in IM3 will be Rhodes at all?
UrichLeeds - 10/1/2012, 6:39 PM
@CorronZenith30 That was more or less confirmed by the promo art that leaked.
DCMarvelFreshman - 10/1/2012, 6:39 PM
@cipher Thanks! These suits are really growing on me!

@CorronZenith30 Yep, confirmed at Comic-Con:)
Tony93 - 10/1/2012, 6:40 PM

CorronZenith30 - 10/1/2012, 6:41 PM
SWEET. Cheers guys
OrganizedChaos - 10/1/2012, 6:42 PM
if that Patriot armor turns out to be War Machine's new suit, thenjust watch, it will translate into the comics
UrichLeeds - 10/1/2012, 6:43 PM
@Tony93 Apparently one is coming this month.
dellamorte1872 - 10/1/2012, 6:46 PM

angus666 - 10/1/2012, 6:49 PM
Yep, those are both cool.
AEStark - 10/1/2012, 6:51 PM
I like them both, but that's not war machine to me.
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 10/1/2012, 6:52 PM
Okay not going to lie, the first pic looks freakin awesome with the two armors next to each other.
theInvincibleMexiMan - 10/1/2012, 6:56 PM
Huh.... The Iron Man suit looks bulkier than he War Machine/Iron Patriot armor.
Not sure how I feel about that but I'm liking the colors they used an it still looks cool.

Looking forward to seeing the XLVII suit in action!!!
Vapes - 10/1/2012, 6:57 PM
What'd they do, park their armors with the bikes and go inside for a drink?
greentag - 10/1/2012, 7:01 PM
Norman Osborn is the Iron Patriot. I'm sure in the movie it will be a totally different person. Let's just take out Tony Stark and make Iron Man some guy from England, Bangladesh, or Russia. Not like "fans" would care.
GodzillaKart - 10/1/2012, 7:01 PM
Cool. Can't wait for this. A good showing in IM3 would make it the clear best CBM series in history.

CharlesLord - 10/1/2012, 7:05 PM
damn that Iron Patriot armor looks good
webheaded - 10/1/2012, 7:07 PM
Man, I swear that armor looks so badass.
Boogie138 - 10/1/2012, 7:08 PM
i getting used to the patriot look i think. now just need to let iron man's new look sink in... not there yet
TheAbomination - 10/1/2012, 7:10 PM
Those are some kick-ass armors right there. Not as great as the ones featured in the last two films and the Avengers, but kick-ass nonetheless. Plus, Louis D'esposito said that we should expect the first trailer by mid-October. That means we've only got a couple more weeks to wait!!!
Jollem - 10/1/2012, 7:13 PM
the iron patriot suit looks better from the comic, even tho i don't like either. i'm sure they'll make those suits look better with some industrial light and magic

@Godzillafart - imo, iron man 2 is a reason already that the iron man trilogy is nowhere as good as the dark knight trilogy

if iron man 3 is better than 2, i would say the iron man trilogy beats raimi's spider-trilogy, even tho i enjoy the spider-movies more 'cause i never gave a damn about iron man and probably never will
marvel72 - 10/1/2012, 7:17 PM
iron man 3 is gonna blow shit out of the f*ckin water when the trailer hits.
NightForce - 10/1/2012, 7:17 PM
Badass suits. Can't wait till the trailer drops.
Mr2099 - 10/1/2012, 7:18 PM
I think they're trying to figure out how they get on the bikes.
Nice find dude.
Bane2099 - 10/1/2012, 7:20 PM
I'm hoping they give some kind of logical explanation why and how the armor in this film has jumped to already being the Mark XLVII so quickly from the Mark VII of The Avengers.
GUNGRAVE1 - 10/1/2012, 7:23 PM
Ironman 3 looks good.
GodzillaKart - 10/1/2012, 7:24 PM
@Jollem: I hear you in that IM2 was a big step down from IM, but IMO, IM2 was a far better movie than BB, which I just don't think holds up to contemporary CBM. Yes, the action and especially the tech is great, but the drama and heart of BB is just absent.

So, while I give IM and TDK 4.5/5 stars, I give BB 2.5 while IM2 squeaks by with 3. TDKR was 3.5-4, IMO, so a lot rests on IM3. We will see.

And I agree that the IM movies are extra fantastic because they make us care about a character we never cared about before the films. Before that he was the comic equivalent of a gun. Yes, he kicked ass, but so did Clint's magnum in Dirty Harry.

I know there were a lot of other problems, and it is all history now, but imagine if somebody better than Bale had been cast as Batman for Batman Begins. Could have been good!

TheEnd - 10/1/2012, 7:26 PM
NICE! now a trailer! :D
RamonSuarez - 10/1/2012, 7:28 PM
Awesome suits.

This will be the best cbm movie of 2013.

Bank on it.
cantfakethefunkdj - 10/1/2012, 7:28 PM
jizz in my pants x20
RamonSuarez - 10/1/2012, 7:29 PM

I'm sorry, but there is no way in hell Iron Man 2 is a better film than Begins.

Batman Begins is one of the greatest cbms ever made.
RamonSuarez - 10/1/2012, 7:32 PM
How is the second suit's War Machine's when it has no mounted shoulder cannon?
BSingerFoxMen - 10/1/2012, 7:33 PM
Iron Patriot is pretty cool looking, but I still prefer the War Machine armor. By changing it so quickly, I don't feel like he got his dues! This movie will still own 2013 though without a doubt!!
