I concur with Anil on this. It looks like absolute shit.

That's not all though. It's also about 21/2 inches too small. It would never provide good coverage or fit on Cap's back.
Cook - 5/1/2010, 10:21 AM
I think it's suppose to be unfinished or a prototype. As in Tony is in the middle of building it. So negative over a 30 second clip with no sound.
Ryden - 5/1/2010, 10:22 AM
Yeah that looks like crap, I'm guessing it;s obly half done though because there's only half a star...but eventhen there's no red on it and it's all "teched out"..sorry Faverau but not everything in the Marvel Universe is tech based..and that includes Cap's shield.
RockNRollCC - 5/1/2010, 10:23 AM
guys calm down

thats prolly just a prototype, an unfinished one at that.
Cook - 5/1/2010, 10:25 AM
Ryden. If there isn't any tech in it then explain how a round disk returns to him like a boomer rang.
BassMan - 5/1/2010, 10:25 AM
wow, i know people b*tch alot about small details on this site... but c'mon. the shield wasn't even finished and it was faithful. this is when you remove the stick out of your body guys
banksy - 5/1/2010, 10:28 AM
The shield sounded like a piece of tin in the film too. Definately a prototype.
ThisFan - 5/1/2010, 10:32 AM
that was a piece of [email protected] sheild wtf
jazzman - 5/1/2010, 10:32 AM
the Shield ment to be unfinished or prototype. anyway if you watch Iron Man 1 again its the same unfinished shield his been working on.
Ashdm - 5/1/2010, 10:33 AM
I'm pretty sure it's the same shield in the background in IM1?
It's just the same shield that's been lying around in Tony's workshop. I'm pretty sure that was the only cap reference in IM2, but I probably missed some...
Ryden - 5/1/2010, 10:34 AM
@cook- Well because in the comics it is made of a material called vibranium that is incredibley dense and is very hard to damage it and because of it's manipulation of sound it allows to bounce of walls or something like that. Remember this is a COMIC BOOK FILM, it doesn't have to be realistic. I mean Thor comes out we need a tech explanation for that? "How does Thor's hammer come back to him without tech?" Doesn't that sound silly?

It's called suspension of disbelief.
JoshWilding - 5/1/2010, 10:35 AM
Guys, it's just an easter egg for fans and not Captain America's actual shield!

Notice how Coulson recognises it? That points to Cap having a round shield in WWII!
DrJoeGonzo - 5/1/2010, 10:36 AM
its called he had that thing in ww2 in the comics what the hell is it doing in iron man and i thought it was made out of adamantium
fullmoonfx - 5/1/2010, 10:39 AM
it's either a prototype or the way tony looks at it and kind of shoves it away, maybe he already used it for parts or done some tests on it. either way guys, it not terrible i actually would'nt mind something similar in the cap movie.
DrJoeGonzo - 5/1/2010, 10:39 AM
what the hell they doin in this vid cleaning house lol
fullmoonfx - 5/1/2010, 10:40 AM
it also looks like it collapses. kind of like his suitcase armor.
RockNRollCC - 5/1/2010, 10:41 AM

i know, but don't you think it's too early in the game to be bashing stuff that hasn't been clarified? i bet it's just an unfinished prototype that Tony's dad had plans for back in WWII, and Tony just made a prototype of it, and he obviously just didn't finish or didn't care after that. Not all prototypes are masterpeices. I imagine that's why they're using it there, because it's useless now, and they haven't discovered Cap yet (because the deleted scene from Incredible Hulk was just happening at the time I suppose.) So don't you think they'll update Cap's shield when they find him?
DrJoeGonzo - 5/1/2010, 10:42 AM
that deleted scene never really showed cap
kitboy33 - 5/1/2010, 10:43 AM
My word, it's obviously not the end result that Cap will be using. Some of you guys really should leave this site for a bit and get laid....particularly, Anil Rickly.
DrJoeGonzo - 5/1/2010, 10:43 AM
just like everyone thought thor struck the hulk with lighting in the cave lol
DrJoeGonzo - 5/1/2010, 10:45 AM
@kitboy pwned
jazzman - 5/1/2010, 10:45 AM

yes it showed cap frozen in Incredible Hulk
DarthSid - 5/1/2010, 10:46 AM
seriously guys calm down this probably only a pro type and not the real down u guys need to calm down

and josh is right its just an easter egg nothing more July 2011 is a long way off
DrJoeGonzo - 5/1/2010, 10:46 AM
what a smuge looking thing in the snow, come on man
contrast - 5/1/2010, 10:48 AM
@Cook-- Cap's shield is made of a special blend of vibranium, which is a metal that (at least in the comics) absorbs kinetic energy, thus never loses momentum when it hits something, which allows the shield to return to Cap...
DrJoeGonzo - 5/1/2010, 10:48 AM
@woverines fury
you sure
DrJoeGonzo - 5/1/2010, 10:50 AM
@erickz nobody sould be talking shit on anybody right now cause were all on this site witch means that we got to much time on are hands
jazzman - 5/1/2010, 10:51 AM

it had his shield with him it been confirmed longtime

DrJoeGonzo - 5/1/2010, 10:51 AM
@ wolves

oh yeah i know what your talking about now ive seen that one
Cook - 5/1/2010, 10:52 AM
Ryden that is apples and oranges. Thor is a "god" with rainbow bridges, giants and magic. Captain America is a man. But OK you're right about the vibranium. No what would be cool is if Tony's shield is destroyed in Avengers. Then after the credits they show him in Wakanda for the precious metal talking to a certain king.
DrJoeGonzo - 5/1/2010, 10:53 AM
i know jazzman but that pic has been tampered with so many times its not even funny
DrJoeGonzo - 5/1/2010, 10:54 AM
Hawksblueyes - 5/1/2010, 10:55 AM
wolverinesfury: Only for a very, very, very short period. He switches to the round shield durring WW2 and has had it ever since.
DrJoeGonzo - 5/1/2010, 10:57 AM
@ hawks

i agree because if that pic up there is really real then you can obviously see that the shield is round in the snow
LEEE777 - 5/1/2010, 10:59 AM
I've seen it!!! : P

Very cool!
DrJoeGonzo - 5/1/2010, 11:00 AM
@ anil

damn self asteam dropper lol
Hawksblueyes - 5/1/2010, 11:00 AM
There was a copyright infringement concerning the superhero character The Shield. So they made Caps shield round,
Paulley - 5/1/2010, 11:02 AM

Ok.. the shield in the Captain America movie is gonna change over the time of the film.. the standard shield shaped one will eventually change to a rounded one over the course of the movie. Im guessing Tony for some reason or another is building a new one or taking apart another prototype enhancement that Howard Stark made before Cap was frozen.

Im hoping the later shield it is tech based, using some sort of gyroscope to keep the shield level when throwing and allowing it to keep its momentum and stability to allow it to return to its holder.

I dont why everyone gets so uptight about it

FYI: Coulson recognises it says something like "how did you get this".. and Tony obviously shows no regard for it.

LEEE777 - 5/1/2010, 11:02 AM
Oh i see the THOR article that FIFTHSON did got deleted (i commented on it) and now the top story of THOR's costume is now up?!?

Pretty sad stuff...
meno720 - 5/1/2010, 11:02 AM
If you look closely in the first iron man movie with the shield behind tony stark is really the same shield i promise you, even though it does look like shit.
