New IRON MAN 3 Character Poster Featuring The Mandarin

Empire Magazine just released another Iron Man 3 character poster, featuring Ben Kingsley looking pretty cool and relaxed as the villain of the piece, The Mandarin. Hit the jump to check it out!

Marvel Studios’ Iron Man 3 pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?

I'll be honest when I first saw this I thought he looks like Mr. T

However it is kinda growing on me, seems like they're going for the "he keeps trophies of his victories" look about him.

I am sure he'll be a great villain, but was hoping for a more menacing Mandarin poster.
Knightrider - 2/22/2013, 12:56 AM
Also is the smoke to his left forming an "S", or perhaps a dragon shape?
mk - 2/22/2013, 12:56 AM
Pretty sick

Fly ass pants, man. Check those dog tags out. Killing bitches and hanging their shit around like decoration. Rocking the shades indoors, too. Shane Black hooked a terrorist up.
TokenNerd - 2/22/2013, 12:59 AM
Can not frakking wait!

Anyone else think that he's mocking Tony? Seeing as he's rocking the shades, acting almost like a billionaire playboy badass. Just a view, I guess.

Either way, he's looking pretty cool overall.

Ok, talibans are america's enemy, but marvel, why the [frick] you made a villain called "MANDARIN" coming from Afghanistan (or at least, resembling like osama), and then you surrounded him with chinese things???
Iron Man is not Cap, he just give a [frick] of "America's enemies"!!

Making him just chinese was too difficult, eh? O.o

Or some chinese governor told you that if the enemy was not chinese they would lower the production taxes in their country?

i have my reserves with their take on this character. as always, hope for the best :)

i saw a little while ago that an action figure with the white space suit for iron man is called the Starbooster armor. don't know if anybody said that already
IronDean2099 - 2/22/2013, 1:41 AM
Anyone one notice the dragon on the wall?
Superheromoviefan - 2/22/2013, 2:06 AM
pretty cool, but will he have powers or a brain villain

@IronDean2099 FING FANG FOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!
TheLibrarian - 2/22/2013, 2:23 AM
OOps, didn't see this before I posted mine. Check out the helmets in the full picture though. Looks suspiciously like Cap's from TFA.
Jollem - 2/22/2013, 2:26 AM
so far this character seems pretty distanced from the classic comics mandarin
batfan175 - 2/22/2013, 2:28 AM
I'm sorry; I thought this was about ironman, not some rap singer....
NerdyGeek - 2/22/2013, 2:45 AM
Awesome find IRONANGEL87. That's a really great poster; here's the full image:

IRONANGEL87 - 2/22/2013, 3:00 AM
Thanks NerdyGeek the full pic is so much cooler with the Captain America cap, the soldier chains and the Iron man helmet.
Jollem - 2/22/2013, 3:01 AM
stepping on the helmet is pretty cool
SageMode - 2/22/2013, 3:01 AM
Badass. Anything less would be uncivilized.
blvdnoise - 2/22/2013, 3:19 AM
First the tattoo, now those helmets. Always getting Cap vibes from this guy it seems. Kool Image! Wearing Stark's shades like a boss! lol
Jollem - 2/22/2013, 3:24 AM
i wonder if movie mandarin has any other tattoos? maybe a dolphin going around his bellybutton?
charlie2094 - 2/22/2013, 3:34 AM
Iron Mans helmet is under his foot! Look at the full version! Very interesting, looks great!
Jolt17 - 2/22/2013, 3:35 AM
Those boots, the shades...yeah, I think we'll get a more militaristic terrorist-like Mandarin, in certain aspects. Which is not a bad thing, and is very interesting, to say the least.
BigDamnHero - 2/22/2013, 3:37 AM
He's just chillin'.
Jolt17 - 2/22/2013, 3:38 AM
And the tiny details seemingly related to Captain America intrigues me even further. Is he not only targeting Iron Man? Do the consequences post The Avengers have any part in this, as well as the villain's background? The curiosity is killing me, but it just gets better.

That being said, that full image should be added to the article.
SageMode - 2/22/2013, 3:39 AM

True. The reason behind the changes of the Mandarin are more reasonable than just straying from the source material just because they can.
MrFunktastic - 2/22/2013, 3:51 AM
Looks cool but also a little bit like a homeless hippie! Still can't wait for this movie!
MrFunktastic - 2/22/2013, 3:53 AM
@charlie2094 Good eye, hadn't noticed the mask under his boot. Thats cool.
loki668 - 2/22/2013, 3:53 AM
I love all of the little details in the picture. I can't wait to see how he's portrayed in the film and what the rings actually do!

Lord Loki has spoken
BruceWayneNewton - 2/22/2013, 3:57 AM
I think he will give a great performance and the movie will kick ass but it is kind of funny to me that nobody really trashes this movie or the one before it for the changes to the villains like they did for tdkr.
Jollem - 2/22/2013, 3:58 AM
every cbm takes liberties

jimoakley666 - 2/22/2013, 4:03 AM
He actually looks really [frick]ing cool. I wonder if he robs Tony's glasses after [frick]ing up his house?
Jolt17 - 2/22/2013, 4:05 AM
I don't know, but shouldn't this kind of change be expected ever since the first Iron Man movie? And CBM's do take liberties, and personally, it is the main appeal of the genre for me - to see the comic book characters being adapted to the big screen, with its own standard, et cetera.
mctrinket - 2/22/2013, 4:10 AM
Jolt17 - 2/22/2013, 4:11 AM
I've only noticed that his pants also sport the military camouflage pattern. (Also, the dog tags.) That leads me into guessing that he's an obsessed former military personnel (maybe he adores Captain America as a hero too much?), who for one reason turns into terrorism, and adopts the Chinese theme as...a way of mockery? Who knows, but it seems to me that the theme is there for satirizing purpose. Very interesting, indeed...
