Apparently Ben Affleck Has Already Passed On JUSTICE LEAGUE

This was bound to happen. After Variety broke the news that WB wanted the Argo director for the highly anticipated DC superhero team-up flick, rival trade Deadline have added their 2 cents, and they claim it's a "no" from the Affleck camp..

It took a bit longer than expected, but Deadline have stuck their oar in on the Ben Affleck/ Justice League story. Just in case you somehow missed the news earlier, Variety revealed that Warner Bros. want The Town/Gone Baby Gone director to helm their big screen DC super hero movie, but NOT that Affleck has agreed to do it. Well, now Deadline report that the answer is already no.

Mike Flemming claims that Affleck has no plans to get involved, stating: "This is a story I checked out days ago, and didn’t run when Affleck’s reps stated that it was not going to happen with him." The thing is, they do confirm that WB want him for the movie -- also mentioning David Yates' name as one of the studio's go-to-guys -- and that he will "take a meeting". So, is he interested or isn't he? Deadline are just as reliable as Variety when it comes to breaking the big stories, but their little trade-war does make it difficult to know exactly what to believe here. Something tells me this isn't the last we will hear about it before the week is out anyway.

Honestly I hope he does take it. I would like to see what he can do. Also I am tired of waiting for this movie. Taking forever just to get off the ground. What is WB scared of?

I can't see him doing it,he's an incredible director, I mean have you seen The Town, or Gone Baby Gone. but I can't see him doing somthing like this.
FanboyTrump - 8/8/2012, 6:56 PM
They could do better
CloserPleasures - 8/8/2012, 6:56 PM
the town was badass
JordanKing - 8/8/2012, 7:04 PM
Good. The idea did seem a little too egotisitical for a ensemble film such as this.
UrbanKnight - 8/8/2012, 7:09 PM
Well THAT was fast. Sux. Too bad. :(
Asterisk - 8/8/2012, 7:12 PM
I think we should still wait it out. None of this is confirmed yet. And a WB insider (I believe that's what he is anyway) on Twitter said that the Deadline story was not true and they're still discussing it with Affleck.
UrbanKnight - 8/8/2012, 7:13 PM
Wb needs one of their suits to be a cb fanboy.
They never take chances which causes them to FAIL SO MUCH!
Pisses me off.
lunesta - 8/8/2012, 7:14 PM

Super12 - 8/8/2012, 7:16 PM
I like how they chose the free comic you find in your Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal box for the Justice League pic lol
TheJester187 - 8/8/2012, 7:17 PM
Didn't this ass say he didn't want to be in another superhero movie after dd cuz he felt humiliated and embarrased? Good I don't want him to do it either he would just [frick] shit up more like gl!
Ghostt - 8/8/2012, 7:18 PM
good call, Affleck. You are a damn good director, but JL is not a good fit for you.
jessepostal - 8/8/2012, 7:18 PM
I didnt think the town was that good at all, I don't get the hype or how people saying he's an incredible director when he's directed three movies, all of which were crime dramas with big name actors to run the show
D117 - 8/8/2012, 7:19 PM
That was obvious
Optimus83 - 8/8/2012, 7:19 PM
I prefer Spielberg, Jackson, Nolan, Snyder, Aronofski, etc. ...but no Affleck
Asterisk - 8/8/2012, 7:21 PM
Aronofsky is a completely nonsensical, contrived, and honestly, unoriginal choice. JL is NOT his kind of movie, just like Superman wasn't.
MitchConner - 8/8/2012, 7:21 PM
I actually think he would have been a good GL....but not flash or Batman....sorry affect....

What no one is remembering though is that he said after DD he would never wear a super hero suit again. He said it was the most humiliating film he'd ever done. So he was always going to pass on this likely.
LoudLon - 8/8/2012, 7:23 PM
This should no doubt assuage the hundreds of you fanboys who cried and screamed and pouted like little girls with skinned knees earlier today.

It's okay now, munchkins. That mean Mr. Affleck go bye-bye from the JL movie. No go take a potty and daddy will fix you some num-nums.
KilledHal9000 - 8/8/2012, 7:24 PM
...knew it was to good to be true. I could actually see Affleck as a number of DC characters and having him direct, well icing on the cake.
SpoonWielder - 8/8/2012, 7:24 PM
I'm back to not caring about this movie again.
One2three - 8/8/2012, 7:25 PM
This is the quickest Justice League movie adaptation fail so far!! Congratulations WB!!
One2three - 8/8/2012, 7:26 PM
WB needs to humbly step away from cbm's and release their death grip on DC characters.
StormLoganSummers - 8/8/2012, 7:28 PM
I imagine that this will make some people very happy, and others not so much.
CrimsonReign - 8/8/2012, 7:29 PM
Thank goodness!! Ben's movies are bland, boring, and average at best. Several directors are far more capable than him. Good riddance.
TayDee - 8/8/2012, 7:29 PM
Good. I don't want someone who was embarrassed playing a costumed hero, to direct a movie about a group of them
DrainBamage - 8/8/2012, 7:32 PM
One of the smart things Marvel did was get a director who was also involved in the comic industry. So why doesn't DC do the same?

Why don't they take Kevin 'Silent Bob' Smith on a test run and see what he can do. He's worked on Batman and Green Arrow. He's directed a few few cult favs. It might work.

kingmonkeyman - 8/8/2012, 7:33 PM
Is this because he is going to Direct and star in the new ALF movie?
IIIAdamantiumIII - 8/8/2012, 7:33 PM
good keep him away
RorMachine - 8/8/2012, 7:34 PM
Anyone suggesting Kevin Smith must immediately delete their account. NOW!
ATrueHero1987 - 8/8/2012, 7:34 PM
I wonder what a Ridley Scott CBM would be like??
KilledHal9000 - 8/8/2012, 7:34 PM might be onto something there...
ATrueHero1987 - 8/8/2012, 7:34 PM
@Ror lmao!
caveman - 8/8/2012, 7:35 PM
Oh thank God!
UrbanKnight - 8/8/2012, 7:35 PM
@CrimsonReign Dude you must be so bored with real every day life.

Fless22 - 8/8/2012, 7:36 PM
Too bad, would really be interested in what he would do with the JLA
