EDITORIAL: Why Is There So Much Praise Over STAR WARS: EPISODE 7 And There Is Hate For JUSTICE LEAGUE

After reading the news and comments written on the reveal of Star Wars: Episode 7, LEVITIKUZ asks why is there so much praise for Episode 7 in articles and yet there is so hate on articles about Justice League

Today we heard the exciting news that Disney brought LucasFilms. Not only had that but Disney announced that they are making Star Wars: Episode 7. This is the type of news that shocks everyone. No one saw this and yet we all love it. Growing up I loved 3 things: Star Wars, superheroes, and basketball. I am very excited at the fact a new Star Wars movie is coming out but as I looked through the comments I noticed something. Other than people saying there shouldn’t be a 7th movie, there was no hate. As we know WB’s announced that they are making a Justice League film and articles are that will get some hate. I don’t understand how Star Wars: Episode 7 is getting praised and the Justice League isn’t. It seems strange. Let’s review.

Now everyone says that Justice League is a response to Marvel’s The Avengers film. Yes it could be but let us not forget that a Justice League film was being planned and went into production before a Avengers movie but got canceled. Yea it’s a response but can’t we say the same about Star Wars? Let’s face it the success of J.J Abrams Star Trek reboot and the hype around the sequel, of course Star Wars would try to put out another movie to compete with Star Trek. It’s a fact.

Now we don’t even know a plot to this movie and it’s getting more hype than Justice League. They could do Knights of the Old Republic or maybe The Force Unleashed or continue on with Luke’s story or maybe something else entirely. With Justice League we at least know the story will revolve around Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern and maybe others teaming up to save Earth from some threat. With Star Wars 7, we have no idea.

Let’s talk characters here. First off people complained about “how is WB’s going to introduce the Justice League members in one film.” In the original Star Wars trilogy, the main characters were Han Solo, Leia, and Luke and had supporting characters like R2, C-3PO, Chewbacca, Wedge, Lando, Vader, and others. In the prequel trilogy, the main characters were Anakin, Padme, and Obi-Wan while the supporting characters were Mace, Yoda, R2, and others. My point is Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman can be the main characters and have Green Lantern, Flash and others be supporting and it can work. Now for Star Wars 7, we don’t know what characters will be in it.

Now how are we so sure Disney can handle a franchise? Don’t say The Avengers. Disney didn’t do anything for the Avengers. Disney brought Marvel when Avengers was being produced and just slapped their name in the credits and took some of the earnings. Disney will isn’t going to be hugely involved in Marvel movies because Marvel is making Marvel movies. Disney will have to now make Star Wars movies now that Lucas is gone. It may seem good that Lucas is gone but it’s not Lucas’s Star Wars, its Disney’s Star Wars. This will prove whether or not Disney can handle a franchise. Now everyone focuses on the negative with WB’s and comic book movies but let’s look at the positives. Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy is not only the greatest comic book trilogy but one of the best trilogies of all time. The first 2 Superman films were great along with Burton’s 2 Batman films. Zack Snyder’s Watchmen is visually the best comic book movie ever and Man of Steel looks like another home run. You can say that it’s only Batman, Superman, and Watchmen but when you have success with them it improves your confidence to try other heroes.

Rushed is a word that has yet to be said in the news of Episode 7 and yet it is used all the time in news on Justice League. Sure 3 years is a long time but why hasn’t that been tossed around with Episode 7 yet? They will either need to reintroduce characters or introduce new characters. Justice League has characters that are well known. Hell we don’t know if Han and Luke are back but we know Batman and Superman will be in Justice League and yet Justice League is the one being called rushed. We don’t even know if a script has either been written, being written, or is written for Episode 7. We know a script is prepared for the Justice League movie by Will Beall and yet Justice League is the one being rushed.

These are just my thoughts and feelings on the reveal on Episode 7. I just don’t get why people on this site are jumping on the Star Wars bandwagon because Episode 7 is revealed when Justice League gets crapped on for reasons one could use for Episode 7. What are your thoughts and feelings? Do you agree with what I’m saying or disagree? Comment below. Peace.
