FAN-ticizing: How I would lead into a Justice League film PART 1 (description)
The BIG picture...
I understand that I am not a filmmaker, and that im not bankrolling the budget for any of this, Im just an avid superhero geek that wants to share his ideas.
NOW, Obviously this doesn’t happen without a successful MOS film. But If we are going to keep this series of films going with an edgy undertone then we need to maximize the emotion. If you want to differentiate from the family friendly Avengers film then attack our hearts and let our favorite super-heroes save them. Starting off, MOS needs to rock us to the core. I want to be on the edge of my seat, and I want to be seriously concerned not only for Superman but for our world if he fails. Whether you enjoyed TDKR or not, it showed us how to make the audience CARE about the characters. We don’t need all superhero films to have corny jokes and over the top Childish humor. With that being said, don’t make it dark for the sake of being dark. Im talking about dark situations (not dark heroes) Let us see loss, fear, REAL STAKES. Put it all on the line and make us believe it. Everyone has grown up with their heroes (super or not) overcoming adversity. PUSH THE ENVELOPE. Shock and Awe. When our Superheroes finally overcome their adversity, we are that much more attached to their struggle. I want to see something outrageous. A city decimated. Kids crying with dirty faces, panic, and chaos. Lay it all over some dramatic music! Im talking about something like those SPCA commercials that catch you just a little off guard. Show us the EMOTIONAL effect it has on the hero. How close it hits to home. IN DEPTH. Then show us how they overcome it. Bring them to the edge, show us the internal struggle, the self confliction. Then bring them back, inner redemption, belief in their abilities and conviction in their morals. This is a no holds barred, all chips are down series. You want to compete with The Avengers and the Marvel Universe you need to bring your A game.
Another way to differentiate from The Avengers is to actually make the series one GIANT story. Not just a little flash after the credits that says we might have another superhero in the same universe like Marvel did. The Marvel series that led up to Avengers was comprised of all separate stories and 10 second clips after the movies that suggested there were other heroes. I want Guest appearances. Easter eggs that actually tie into the other movies. It doesn’t even need to be anything overly apparent. Let one of the films feature an attack on the president and hypothetically Superman saves the day. In one of the other films show a news program in the background detailing Supermans rescue of the president. (Just as an example) Use those small tools to tie all of the films into one Giant story. Not 5 completely separate stories whose heroes happen to collaborate on a grander scale. SO during the buildup maybe we show that Lex Luthor is orchestrating the events of the individual movies, while he collaborates with an unknown enemy to be revealed in the Justice League Film.
I am planning to post a series of articles, one for each individual film (including the Batman reboot but not including the MOS)- complete with the guest appearances and easter eggs necessary to tie it together until it culminates into the JL movie. Hope you enjoy.
Ill be posting the GL Sequel first (later tonight)
