RESULTS: Would You Like To See Joseph Gordon Levitt As BATMAN In JUSTICE LEAGUE?

RESULTS: Would You Like To See Joseph Gordon Levitt As BATMAN In JUSTICE LEAGUE?

This rumor definitely seemed to light a fire under our CBMers, but the final result was probably a bit closer than you might have thought. Over 4,000 of you voted, so click to find out if JGL is the man you guys want to see as the next Dark Knight..

He isn't - but considering the negative reaction to this rumor initially, not by too large a margin. With 1,947 Votes, 46.56% of you definitely don't want John 'Robin' Blake suiting up as The Caped Crusader in the Justice League movie. I thought the 'maybe' option would have been next, but with 1,246 Votes, 29.79% of you would be perfectly happy to see it happen. And finally 23.65% (989 votes) of you would be okay with it, as long as good ol Bruce Wayne also made an appearance.

Levitt's reps have since denied that the actor was ever in talks for the role, but as we should all know by now, that's what reps do! Still, not many people got behind the rumor in the first place so it's pretty much seen as dead in the water by most. But considering the source, I'm going to wait for something more concrete before completely dismissing this one.

See JGL earn his cowl in The Dark Knight Rises on Blu-ray and DVD December 4th.

I didn't vote, so chalk me up to a big fat NO.

There will be No Christian Bale, so even IF bruce was a factor, it would not make a lick of sense.

Leave Nolans trilogy as it is.
SuperSomething616 - 11/29/2012, 4:37 AM
As it should be!!!
SmellofDuty - 11/29/2012, 4:40 AM
Of course no Batman with no Bruce Wayne. It's that simple.
TPerryoo7 - 11/29/2012, 4:40 AM

John Blake "Robin" Batman vs Clark Kent, Superman

Bruce Wayne as Batman vs Clark Kent, Superman

As with any good starter JL, Batman vs Superman is how it should start initially. in my opinion. You need a Bruce Wayne Batman that can stand up to Henrys Superman, who is a beast. A beast JGL is not.
Christuffer - 11/29/2012, 4:49 AM
In my humble opinion, seeing JGL take up the mantle as "Batman" in Justice League wouldn't be so bad. Look at it this way...

According to Nolan, Batman is a symbol. Remember, Batman could be anybody. If Joseph Gordon-Levitt, as John "Robin" Blake, got the role in Justice League, he'd be playing

or, a version of Batman. Superman and the others don't really need to know that he is or isn't Bruce Wayne, even though most of them do in the comics. For purposes of the Justice League film only, Batman needs to be present...not necessarily Bruce Wayne. See what I'm saying? Of course, this all comes into play if they cast Levitt, and fail to deny the connection between the aforementioned "Nolanverse" and the Justice League movie. In a juxtaposition between the Justice League feature film, and the Batman universe, the namesake and history of Bruce Wayne seems less important to me.
ralfinader - 11/29/2012, 4:57 AM
Wouldn't mind him playing Bruce/Bats, but no interest at all in Nolanverse bullshit.
Rocodilla - 11/29/2012, 5:01 AM
Hello! I'm from Indonesia :D'

In my opinion, Nolans make a great ending of this trilogy.
And i think JGL or John "Robin" Blake not must be a next batman, but can be inspiration for Christian Bale aka Bruce Wayne for make a characters with John Blake's name, Robin.

Maybe Aramis Knight's the real Dick Grayson :D
JordanKing - 11/29/2012, 5:02 AM
The first big screen meeting between two of the world's biggest fictional icons, and there's a chance one could be replaced with a last minuite subsitute? What a piss take, thank god it was just a rumour!
armagedom - 11/29/2012, 5:21 AM
Dear mister nolan thank you for an awful batman but please i would ask you kindly to stay the [frick] away from CBMS
SUPERSHADOWBAT - 11/29/2012, 5:21 AM
Just start fresh with a new Batman/Bruce Wayne. JGL is a good actor but his persona doesn't convey Batman to me.
monstalova - 11/29/2012, 5:22 AM
Whoever voted yes has no idea what Batman should be. Nolans Batman films are brilliant movies but average comic book movies if that makes sense :)
armagedom - 11/29/2012, 5:22 AM
by the way i like Froggy list of actors for justice league movie
RorMachine - 11/29/2012, 5:33 AM
I myself am in the maybe gang. Once Bruce Wayne showed up in some capacity..and for a good chunk of the running time, I'd be fine with Levitt keeping the cowl warm for a bit.
JatevinM - 11/29/2012, 5:34 AM
People are assuming that if JGL was to play the new Batman that he would be playing John Blake. I dont see where that has bee said at all.
DrRockso - 11/29/2012, 5:47 AM
Hey, [frick] it, if they can recast The Hulk, why not Batman?
Jaspion - 11/29/2012, 5:48 AM
Itsjustsomerandomguy's video is all I wanted to say and all I wanted you to see.

And of course people assume he would be John Blake, that's teh hint we're given in the last movie. He suddenly appears as Bruce Wayne and nobody will understand what's going on. Only Makes a even worse idea to cast him.
DrRockit13 - 11/29/2012, 5:50 AM
i like those choices above but Filpe and Gosling would never do it.
DrRockso - 11/29/2012, 5:51 AM
Because, face it, in a Justice League movie he would be suited up the whole time and that would be comical with Bale's vocalization technique. Karl Urban has my vote.
EarOne - 11/29/2012, 5:55 AM
sorry..but i've always thought JGL's never been a leading man material to me. he just doesn't have that quality. that 'oomph' factor..that CHARISMA. and his acting chops have yet impressed me. it's just..good but not great.

as for Cavill..his acting chops slightly above average, BUT..he DOES have that charisma/presence + he's also got the right type of square-jawed look, and yet NOT bone-headed type of deal..there's intelligence behind the muscles. even comparing his Light of Day performance with JGL's in 500 days of summer, it's just obvious that Cavill'd be the guy they offer lead parts to.

dunno..maybe jgl's BOYISH look is just his curse/undoing for leading man type of parts, but..if only he got that OTHER factor (screen presence)..AND intensely great acting skills (like Bale's), then maybe i can see him as more fitting.

but for now. NO.
DrRockso - 11/29/2012, 5:55 AM
@Froggy Aquaman HAS to be a 250 pound beast, not 155 lb slender fella if he expects to get any respect. Same thing with Philipe, Flash ain't no skinny runt either

marvel72 - 11/29/2012, 5:58 AM
thank f*ck it was no,the correct result for a change.
retr0g0dfather - 11/29/2012, 6:01 AM
I'm concerned more about the costume. when are we going to see the traditional gray suit and black cowl? I'm tired of all black.
CrashTest - 11/29/2012, 6:05 AM
the no's have it. Pass
darkimage - 11/29/2012, 6:10 AM
First of all, I am a huge batman fan. I've collected Batman continually for 20 years. That said, I feel it is too soon for a reboot of Batman. I feel the public would openly accept JGL as either a new Batman, given the ending of the Nolanverse, or accept him as Nightwing.
I feel the problem with including a Bruce Wayne so soon will be, much of the movies reception will hinge on comparing that batman to CB's performance.
Maybe if they really tone down Batman to have a small role that would not be an issue, but they really need to let some of the other members of the JL shine.
ArtisticErotic - 11/29/2012, 6:15 AM
[frick] this idea plain and simple, it's stupid.
Speak4yourself - 11/29/2012, 6:16 AM
It would be interesting to see him have a minor cameo as a respective nod to the Nolan Franchise.
BackwardGalaxy - 11/29/2012, 6:17 AM
JGL is a fine actor. He's just tiny.
Kevinwillpeabodyproperties - 11/29/2012, 6:26 AM

IgnurRant - 11/29/2012, 6:39 AM
i'd like JGL as Batman but only if he was Batman. Meaning we'd only see Batman on screen and it would never reveal if it was Bruce or Robin Blake under the mask. It would add to the immortal legend of Batman thing they got going on.

Preston - 11/29/2012, 6:44 AM

I was with team: "NO Farking Way in the World."

It's the calm before the storm, It'll be raining Nolanites "shortly":

GodzillaKart - 11/29/2012, 6:50 AM
Batman has been miscast every time out...this would have been once more.

Give me a Batman/Wayne who can be charming and shallow as public Bruce, brilliant and perceptive as private Bruce, and brutal and intimidating as Batman. I would love to see that...just once.
HachibiTheMC - 11/29/2012, 6:54 AM
JGL is Nightwing if anybody. but as far as movie verse goes, you can keep all the "Bale-as-the-gold-standard" garbage.

His Batman was so-so at best. The clumsy fighting skills, the creepy pedophile voice, the cliched lines - were just too hard to overlook. Which is a real shame cuz these factors often overshadowed the awesome costume design for me.

I've always said if they could take Bale's handsome (pause) Wayne with Keaton's scary-as-shit Batman you'd have the perfect Movie-verse Batman.

Oh well, JGL - no for The Big Bat, but yes for Nightwing
ellispart3 - 11/29/2012, 6:58 AM
nolan's three part story is over. let it go.
HachibiTheMC - 11/29/2012, 7:01 AM

You beat me to it. I agree. We've not had an actor yet who can portray both Wayne AND Batman with the same level of effectiveness.

They can usually pull one or the other but not usually both.

Keaton - Awesome Batman but Bruce Wayne with the Mr. Mom Widow's Peak? Not it.
Clooney -
Kilmer - Had the Wayne "angst" down cold, but everything else lacked and his refusale to dye his hair black just killed the image of Bruce Wayne
Bale - Awesome Bruce Wayne but his Batman was extra pervy with incredibly subpar fight choreography (which wasn't his fault clearly, but a master of martial arts go-to moves shouldn't be all elbow smashes and haymakers.)
gmoney0505 - 11/29/2012, 7:01 AM
I said it plenty of times. JGL is Batman just in Gotham for right now, while Bruce is Batman everywhere else. Bruce has plenty of time to do what he has to do with Batman without having to worry about is Bruce Wayne alter ego now. That is what I would use for the JL movie.

Give that man a body brace just like he has for his leg in the movie and his arm in The Dark Knight Returns that seem to magically fix injuries and he is good to go.
SimyJo - 11/29/2012, 7:03 AM
A Batman for me, without the defining tragedy of his parent's murder, and without that as a role as an ongoing obsessive driving factor in being The Batman - is no Batman at all for me.

Zero interest at all here in JGL as The Batman.
Bandrews1 - 11/29/2012, 7:05 AM
I'm half and half on this decision, to me I think if they really wanna make a JL movie by 2015 then it would be kinda smart to expand Nolan's universe in some kind of way. I'm also a huge JGL fan and I wouldn't mind seeing him in the cape and cowl as John Blake, he would just have to bulk up a bit. But how ever the fanboy in me can't picture a JL movie without Brue Wayne, so that's why I have mixed feelings about this, so we'll just see what happens.
GodzillaKart - 11/29/2012, 7:05 AM
@HachibiTheMC: Right on, Man. I agree about everything you said including the unconvincing fighting skills.

Regardless, the Nolan Universe is over now. Let's hope they do something fantastic with the character next.
Preston - 11/29/2012, 7:22 AM

Batman/Wayne who can be charming and shallow as public Bruce:

Bale as Bruce

Brilliant and perceptive as private Bruce:

Brutal and intimidating as Batman:

Well, it looks like the Nolanverse got one of those, right.

I say, “get Jon Hamm and Guillermo del Torro for the reboot.”

Jon Hamm
“Tall, Dark, and Handsome” - Just like Bruce Wayne in the comic. We haven't got that on film yet (at least not in color).

Del Torro
Great Gothic director, perfect to bring Gotham to life (enough of Chicago).
