Aaron Taylor-Johnson Says He "Can't Rule Out" KICK-ASS 3

Aaron Taylor-Johnson Says He "Can't Rule Out" KICK-ASS 3

During the Godzilla press conference Johnson is quizzed about a possible return to the role of Kick-Ass, and says that although he's not contracted, it might be a possibility. Bryan Cranston also jokes about wanting to see Kick-Ass VS. Godzilla.

Kick-Ass 2 definitely left the door open for a threequel, and we know Mark Millar has written that story -- but will the movie ever happen? During the press conference for Godzilla Flicks And The City asked Aaron Taylor-Johnson if it was a possibility, and although he's not under contract to reprise the role, he sounds like he might be up for it anyway.

You can see the rest of Flicks And The City's coverage of the conference at the link below.

I mean [frick] it, finish it.
AlexanderLykins - 5/12/2014, 8:01 AM
If his Marvel contract gets in the way, he most certainly can.
MrSotoMan - 5/12/2014, 8:03 AM
Honestly he will be a busy man.

So by the time Kick-Ass 3 is even thought of, he could have 2 months to shoot which isn't that much honestly.

You can work around his schedule, and I am sure if Universal decides one day to green lit it, with Mark Millar funding or finding others to fund, I am sure they can work around his schedule.
Scarilian - 5/12/2014, 8:04 AM
They'll do Kick-ass 3 - however due to how bad Kick-ass 2 was they'll need to change a lot. It'll end up being better than the second but still worse than the first.

Its interesting that if Kick-ass 2 had stayed true to the comics then we would have gotten a better Times Square fight than The Amazing Spider-man 2 gave us.
YoungThanos - 5/12/2014, 8:05 AM
Man...KA2 lacked the soul of part one.

Nothing about it was memorable and Mark Millar's punch worthy face doesn't make things better so I'm done with this franchise.
Scarilian - 5/12/2014, 8:06 AM
As for when the third will be out... well... 2016 seems likely given the 3-year gap between the first and second.
SuperCat - 5/12/2014, 8:07 AM
I'm on the fence when it comes to a third one. The sequel was just ok to me.

FastFlames - 5/12/2014, 8:09 AM
Meh just whatever I guess
GUNSMITH - 5/12/2014, 8:11 AM
ThedamnBatman - 5/12/2014, 8:11 AM
I did like the sequel and I want them to finish it up
Comedian03 - 5/12/2014, 8:14 AM
I think I'm in the minority of people who actually liked Kick-Ass 2 more than the first one.
DrDoom - 5/12/2014, 8:15 AM
Kick-Ass is overrated.
Chcl - 5/12/2014, 8:16 AM
I'm more excited to see Age of Ultron and Godzilla!!

At the theatre signing a few papers ready to see DOFP. Movie starts in 10 minutes:o Hope he does the 3rd one.
Doopie - 5/12/2014, 8:17 AM
second one wasn't so bad but it wasn't as good as the first. i just think there's only so far you can take the concept. wouldn't mind a third but i'm not desperate
Doopie - 5/12/2014, 8:18 AM

stop showing off!

they make you sign to say you won't talk about it right? but you can tell us if it's good or bad or average?
MexicanSexyman - 5/12/2014, 8:19 AM
Kickass 2 was awesome, just like the first one. Kickass 2 should have came out in March 2013 instead of in the summer. It came out when a lot of movies didn't make much money. I hope Kickass 3 does get made, as well as Hellboy 3.
TheRationalNerd - 5/12/2014, 8:20 AM
The sequel was a 7/10 but Mother Russia stole the show for me! lol And who could forget that teaser before the credits rolled? I loved it! They might as well finish it on a high note and focus on other Millarverse films.

-Kick-Ass 3

@Comedian- yes, yes you are....

KA2 was not BAD, but like someone said, it was pretty "soulless"...

McLovin was the only decent thing about that turd, with a pleasant little sprinkle of Jim Carrey....

Everything else pretty much sucked...

I hope they bring back the motherfu**er with robot arms and legs.... I feel like it would be so ridiculous and perfect for his character after how he turned out in KA2...
TheRationalNerd - 5/12/2014, 8:22 AM

Enjoy yourself man! :D
fettastic - 5/12/2014, 8:22 AM
KA2 was ok, nothing special. It severely lacked the charm that made the original special.

Kick-Ass essentially broke even in theaters but did well on video. Kick-Ass 2 lost money in both venues.

So no, it's over.
TheRationalNerd - 5/12/2014, 8:23 AM

Agreed, that would be too cool. I have a feeling they'll incorporate him in the threequel somehow if they already haven't done it within the comic. lol
TheRationalNerd - 5/12/2014, 8:24 AM
This new firefox 29.0.1 update stinks! I can't even post pictures and gifs anymore. :(
Alfredo27 - 5/12/2014, 8:24 AM
those age of ultron shots make me cringe. Man talk about stupid ass outfits.
TheRationalNerd - 5/12/2014, 8:26 AM

YES!! Please give us a Hellboy 3!!!
charlie2094 - 5/12/2014, 8:27 AM
I enjoyed KA2, but it was hugely disappointing, not half the film Kick-Ass 1 was, didn't have as much personality or anything...not all bad, Carrey was great in it.

Like to see KA3 happen, try to redeem the series a little, go out on a higher note
Brainiac13 - 5/12/2014, 8:27 AM
One of my old articles.

Kick-Ass 3 in the Pipeline to Complete the Trilogy

If you didn't get enough of Kick-Ass this summer there's more Ass to Kick in the third and Final Installment.

TheGreenBastard - 5/12/2014, 8:29 AM
I'd love a 3rd one. The first two were amazing, and I really hope it gets made.
fettastic - 5/12/2014, 8:29 AM
@Brainiac, yeah and WB told us a Green Lantern sequel was imminent.

Trust me, it's over. Kick-Ass 2 lost [frick]LOADS of cash. Nobody wants to come up with yet another way to lose millions of dollars.
TheRationalNerd - 5/12/2014, 8:32 AM

Hahaha, dude every time I read about nemesis it seems like it's all scratching heads. Will it ever see the light of day? :(
TheGreenBastard - 5/12/2014, 8:33 AM
I didn't know Plan B Production was one of the two studios making these, and Bitt was a producer.
Brainiac13 - 5/12/2014, 8:34 AM

I don't mind if they make it or not......I'll watch it only on Blu-ray. ;)
Niklander - 5/12/2014, 8:35 AM
Kick Ass 2 sucked major balls they completely Ameracanised the shit out of it
xfan320 - 5/12/2014, 8:35 AM
I honestly think the hinging factor is how big of a breakout star Aaron Taylor Johnson will become after AOU hits this summer....

If he ends up being awesome, people will clamor for a KA3, and we'll get one...

Done AND done...

If he's only pretty good, reduce likelihood by 75%...

0% chance if the DOFP Quicksilver ends up being a better character...
Rpendo - 5/12/2014, 8:36 AM
Kick-Ass 2 made no money. There's no way it's getting a sequel.
TheGreenBastard - 5/12/2014, 8:37 AM
Wow! I just saw the wiki pic of Johnson's wife(who's 27 years older than him). Woof.
sKeemAn - 5/12/2014, 8:40 AM
I still haven't sat down and watched KA2.
yinyangpalms - 5/12/2014, 8:40 AM
Kick Ass 2 was not as bad as feces like Amazing Spider-Man 2 but it was so void of entertainment value and so mediocre that it killed any possible desire for a sequel in most people. It felt like a small budget direct to DVD or even direct to cable sequel.
That's what happens when you lose a great director and replace him with an amateur.

The story was structured poorly. A rewrite with more Colonel S&S, more humor, a real villain who would've changed the movie.

Kick Ass 2 needed to be Empire Strikes Back. It needed to be the film where the bad guys win. But having the villain be a stupid joke would be like replacing Darth Vader with Dark Helmet in Empire.

There were other flaws in the story such as the protagonists not being aware of the antagonists until 2/3 of the way through the film.

But if they had fixed the flaws from the comic fans of the comics would be screaming that they should've stuck with the comic.

But it did follow the comic and Kick Ass 2 is a testament to what can go wrong if you follow a comic too closely.

maxleresistant - 5/12/2014, 8:46 AM
Kick ass 2 was so bad... Too bad Vaughn didn't stay to make the whole trilogy, could have one of the greatest ever
GodzillaKart - 5/12/2014, 8:50 AM
First one was great. Second was a bore. I guess I'm indifferent about a third.
