Jim Carrey Set To Join The Cast Of KICK-ASS 2 As 'The Colonel'?

Jim Carrey has reportedly been offered a "showy supporting role" in Jeff Wadlow's Kick-Ass 2 as 'The Colonel' (most likely 'Colonel Stars', the leader of superhero team "Justice Forever"). Read on for details about his possible role in the sequel.

Well, this is interesting. Deadline reports that Jim Carrey is in talks with Universal to join the cast of writer and director Jeff Wadlow's Kick-Ass 2. He has apparently been offered the role of 'The Colonel', something they go on to describe as "a showy supporting role" in the sequel. At this point however, a deal has not been made and there's no way of knowing whether or not he will say yes. Here's hoping he does. Presumably, the site is talking about 'Colonel Stars', an ex-Mafia member turned vigilante who forms "Justice Forever" alongside his brother 'Lieutenant Stripes'. At one point in the comic book series, he allows his dog to, well, eat the genitals of a bad guy before meeting his own brutal end at the hands of Red Mist's (a.k.a. The Mother F*cker) group of supervillains.

wow its been awhile since we've seen mr carrey in anything decent anyways...if he goes the Number 23 route then we're good but if he tries any riddler moves ill walk straight out...i've always love jim and who knows if its true but i would doubt him as a good addition to the ensemble at this point
marvel72 - 8/20/2012, 6:05 PM
do it carrey you don't get much work these days.
MrDuck - 8/20/2012, 6:08 PM
I think it'd be great, he's a tall lanky guy, could still come across as like a dangerous frankenstein monster
VicSage - 8/20/2012, 6:12 PM
Might get crucified for this but...

Kick Ass had a budget of $28 million. Kick Ass 2 will need a budget increase. Somewhere in the range of $50-65 million sounds good. To make sure they get their money back, I think lowering the rating would be for the best. Film it with HARD R in mind, edit it for PG-13 theatrical release, release for home video with original HARD R.

They could release two theatrical versions of the same movie: One PG-13, one R rating.

Just don't want this movie to tank. Looking forward to this.
VicSage - 8/20/2012, 6:13 PM
and Jim Carrey needs this film.
Fxrank - 8/20/2012, 6:22 PM
As long as he doesn't utilize his typical Carey Humor
CPBuff22 - 8/20/2012, 6:26 PM
I liked him in Mr. Poppers Penguins even if it was more of a family/childrens film.
DukeAcureds - 8/20/2012, 6:26 PM
Camp and pathos needed... at the same time! Call Jim Carey. It's comeback time.
NostalgicYouth - 8/20/2012, 6:36 PM
He better take it because this is one of those strange roles in a movie were you know an's actor career could be revived, just like Nicalos Cage in Kick-Ass...plus I think Jim Carrey could add a very Zaney, Psychotic feel to the charater like Christian Bale did in American Psycho
LAXtremest - 8/20/2012, 6:38 PM
Are the Kick-Ass comic books any good? Haven't read any.
BooYah - 8/20/2012, 6:44 PM
This would be awesome!
SLK - 8/20/2012, 6:46 PM
His carrier doesn't need revival you nerdy idiots. Carrey had only one fail recently - Mr. Popper's Penguins. All his other movies were great.
kemuael - 8/20/2012, 6:47 PM
Anyone who disagree with this is officially dead inside.
IIIAdamantiumIII - 8/20/2012, 6:53 PM
cool ruin the story for everyone who has not read the books!
Ranger14 - 8/20/2012, 6:55 PM
lol...just because an actor hasn't done a film for a while doesn't mean their career has tanked or needs revived. Some actors...don't need to do films every year. When you have had the success Carrey has had, you can take some time off. He did just finish filming with Steve Carrell for a new film coming out next year though. I'm all for him playing pretty much any role. The guy is a very diverse actor.
JatevinM - 8/20/2012, 6:55 PM
I seriously hope he takes the role

I don't know... when I was reading the book, I always envisioned Ed Harris or some strong presence as Colonel Stars. Jim just gives me bad memories of "Batman Forever." :-/

webheaded - 8/20/2012, 7:26 PM
THAT would be awesome if true. Jim Carrey makes everything better, EXCEPT for Batman Forever. But let's not speak of that...
mattattack - 8/20/2012, 7:33 PM
Dude, say spoilers next time before saying who dies in the comic. Jeez..

Forget it. He should do ACE VENTURA: PET DETECTIVE 3.
CrashTest - 8/20/2012, 8:43 PM
frickin great!
Ranger14 - 8/20/2012, 8:45 PM
While neither movie was my cup of tea, Carey was brilliant in Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Man on the Moon.
Vital - 8/20/2012, 9:01 PM
@blackandyellow, worst actor in Hollywood huh? Wow, what a stupid remark lol. I don't even have to defend the guy, as your comment is just full of absurdness.
jbak368 - 8/20/2012, 9:30 PM
Even if you don't like Jim Carrey's movies, calling him a bad actor is pretty ignorant of what the craft of acting entails. I don't often find his movies funny (just personal taste) but there's no denying his incredible skill as a human cartoon.
jbak368 - 8/20/2012, 9:31 PM
And he can be quite good at dramatic roles when he decides to take one - one need look no further than Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind for proof.
Gamma022 - 8/20/2012, 10:28 PM
Carrey was amazing in The Truman Show
IIIAdamantiumIII - 8/20/2012, 10:34 PM
@blackandyellow your ignorance is far more insulting than most of the comments you make on this site. You have no idea what Jim Has gone through in life and the things he struggles with on a daily basis. He is One of the Best actors Hollywood could ever hope for. anyone can take a piss on films they did not enjoy , but clearly you are biased . Maybe you should go watch a Tyler Perry movie *ROFL*
IzzyOwnsYouAll - 8/21/2012, 1:26 AM
Could this have been a sign that he was a fan of the novel and/or movie? If so, he might take it just based on that.

MrChuff - 8/21/2012, 1:51 AM
I read that Carrey is a huge fan of the first Kick Ass movie. Hopefully that will help him make his decision but without Vaughn attached as director that might sway him the other way.
We'll see.

For your ass.
TicklerMan - 8/21/2012, 3:46 AM
So check it. I saw Jim Carrey Inside a Taco Bell and I asked him if he was going to be in KA2. He said that it wasn't any of my damn business and I that needed to stay out of his personal affairs.
ralfinader - 8/21/2012, 4:28 AM
Is Jim Carrey that guy that used to be funny? If this were Ace Ventura 3 I would be psyched. Kick-Ass 2? Not so much, hope it's a rumor.
