Director Jeff Wadlow, creator Mark Millar and stars Chloë Grace Moretz (Hit-Girl) and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Red Mist) all share their thoughts on Jim Carrey's decision to not help promote the movie due to the level of violence and how it may in fact ultimately benefit the film.

I get where the cast is coming from...but that didn't convince me.
TheDpool - 8/7/2013, 6:05 AM
Lets face it Jim Carrey was once a brilliant actor but his time has gone.
bagadoosh - 8/7/2013, 6:06 AM
JIm carreys protest actually helped promote the movie ... lmao oh sweet Irony !!
CherryBomb - 8/7/2013, 6:10 AM
I see where Jim is coming from but Mark Millers response has so much more merit.
The first Kick Ass didn't promote violence, sure it had lots of it but we also saw the severe consequences of their actions.

Carey knew what he was signing up for. He's an idiot for doing a movie for a pay check then when he gets the money suddenly having a change of heart.

Also isnt Careys character against the use of guns ? It's a good set of morals to have in the movie, so he can't complain about that.

Don't quite get Carreys stance, whilst Kick Ass 1 had a lot of violence, towards the end, it was more about the consequences of said violence. Knowing the comic, pretty sure towards the end of 2, it'll be less glorified violence, instead focusing on the emotion and consequences of it.

Don't get why Carrey now changes his mind. There's always been violence and the such in the real world, and Kick Ass was always going to glorify it. Completely understand his stance against violence, just not why he's suddenly changed.
fettastic - 8/7/2013, 6:44 AM
Jim doesn't want the movie to FAIL! He just doesn't feel comfortable promoting a film in which a main character goes into a schoolyard and shoots a bunch of children in light of what happened in real life.

Can't say I blame him for that. I don't understand how anyone could.
teabag - 8/7/2013, 6:44 AM
Mexican@ That's a lot of penis ( unforunatly she never said that ) :(
Jobin - 8/7/2013, 6:45 AM
Oldgreg.
Your an idiot. That is all.
Hero020200 - 8/7/2013, 6:58 AM
Yeah I agree with Fettastic. The things which happened in te comics were really toned down in the first movie, and the second series of the comics were much more violent than the first. And as we know, when Mother Russia is attacking the Police, we know that in the comics something very dark and quite frankly, disgusting happened. I am not quite sure if they are gonna go with this in the movie, but If they do, then I completely understand where Carrey is coming from
fettastic - 8/7/2013, 7:05 AM

Yeah why wouldn't Jim Carrey be completely comfortable with promoting this after Sandy Hook?
RedFury - 8/7/2013, 7:36 AM
@OldGreg
Correction, you're an ignorant idiot. Is that better for you?
CherryBomb - 8/7/2013, 7:49 AM
@fettastic that scene isn't even in the movie.
BIZARRjOe - 8/7/2013, 7:57 AM
Jim Carrey did his part in the film, shouldn't matter what his personal beliefs are.
fettastic - 8/7/2013, 8:02 AM
@CherryBomb, link? I have heard nobody deny that scene is in the film.
fettastic - 8/7/2013, 8:04 AM
@OldGreg, You're an anti first amendment moron, who should be deported back to yo momma's crotch.
manofmidgard - 8/7/2013, 8:12 AM
didn't jim carrey see the first movie? why on earth would he star in the second one if he's against violence? also, doesn't he remember his fireman character from in living color? what a giant douche-bag hypocrite. I remember when jim carrey was talented and hilarious, but I guess those day are gone. when was his last good movie? its been a good long time. I think what we have here is a comedian who has lost his ability to be funny and now he's just bitter. bah. well, he wants us to boycott his movies, then stay out of the movies I wanna see jim! I will gladly boycott the rest of your movies, but I do want to see kick-ass, not because jim carrey is in it, but because the first one kicked ass.
JettJagguarrr - 8/7/2013, 8:23 AM
Um...C'mon we all know that something else is going on with poor Jim...

funny gifs
fettastic - 8/7/2013, 8:27 AM
@OldGreg, if you don't like ObamaCare or gun control laws, you have my permission to leave America.
Teo - 8/7/2013, 8:34 AM
i've always thought that the endless hunger for big guns has something to do with having a very small penis.
DoubleDion - 8/7/2013, 8:37 AM
Jim Carrey should just shut the [frick] up and make Dumb and Dumber too... no one gives a shit about what actors think? they are cocksuckers that are just cocks and suckers
DoubleDion - 8/7/2013, 8:39 AM
Also I hope Detroit gets bought by China
crawley - 8/7/2013, 8:39 AM
I wish the first movie used the meat cleaver like the comic book did. That jetpack gatling gun thing was so stupid.
muttonman - 8/7/2013, 8:39 AM
I hope the studio goes after a part of Carrey's contract. Most acting contracts include promoting the film, doing the talk show circuits and whatnot...

Carrey's a hasbeen and it makes me chortle with glee that his remarks are actually helping the movie!
BIZARRjOe - 8/7/2013, 8:54 AM
Let's see how much extra money these trailers bring in compared to the extra money Jim Carrey's one statement brings in. I'd say Carrey will end up being the biggest promoter of this film, even if he didn't intend it to be that way.. or did he?
Ryden - 8/7/2013, 8:56 AM
The thing that bothered me about the comments was that, as a person who totally supported him on his anti-gun comments and the Cold Dead Hand video which I thought was genius, this feels like he's done the 'movement' (for lack of a better term) a disservice. I'm pro gun-control laws but violence in film, TV or video-games etc has nothing to do with real life violence. In fact it acts as an outlet, we save insane levels of violence for fiction. Carrey doesn't seem to think that and that's disappointing.
KingSilence - 8/7/2013, 8:58 AM
HAHA Jim Carry is a liberal douche bag.
fettastic - 8/7/2013, 9:07 AM
If Jim would have promoted this film, can you IMAGINE the catterwalling cries of hypocrisy form the right?

But since he actually follows up his convictions with actions, he's called names.

Nice.
fettastic - 8/7/2013, 9:10 AM
@OldGreg, why do you hate America?

You can love it or leave it baby, love it or leave it.
BIZARRjOe - 8/7/2013, 9:18 AM
Sometimes you can love your country so much that you want to change it for the better instead of abandoning it.
Jobin - 8/7/2013, 9:28 AM
OldGreg, and everyone else bashing Jim Carrey for having issues and realizing that after Sandy Hook, that he isnt proud of a movie that promotes violence and shooting children.

I like violent movies, but if I were a parent like Jim, I probably would feel convicted about making that movie after those kids were massacred.

It has nothing to do with him hating America, or the Second Amendment, or taking away guns......he has kids, and doesnt want to promote gun violence, Sandy Hook made him realize that, GOOD FOR HIM. I am in the military (USMC), I make a living from guns and violence, but I respect his conviction on the subject especially when it relates to children.

Everyone has their right to practicing the second ammendment, unfortunatly for some people, that means they have the right to be an asshole (KKK, Racist, Sexist, and just plain douchebags). Next time I see a guy with the shirt on walking around in public with a shirt that has the F word on it or something else vulgar where children can see and read it, I might just punch him in the face. Those are the douchebags I am refering too.
Berserker187 - 8/7/2013, 10:02 AM
He should donate all the money he receive from the film if he feels that its to violent. Donate to a program agaisnt violence
AvalonX - 8/7/2013, 10:40 AM
I really hope the scene is not in the movie, can anyone confirm?
Jobin - 8/7/2013, 10:43 AM
Just like I said, everyone has the right to be an asshole. I think there is a difference between voicing your opinion on a subject or matter, or wearing a shirt like this in a public setting.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

I saw someone with this shirt, I wanted to punch them. There is a difference between using the second amendment for the right thing......or just being an asshole (t-shirt).
