Do Marvel Have A Heroes For Hire TV Show In The Works?

Do Marvel Have A Heroes For Hire TV Show In The Works?

Jeff Loeb, head of Marvel's television department, has revealed to MTV that a Heroes For Hire tv show is a distinct possibility..

At SDCC, MTV spoke with Marvel head honcho Joe Quesada and he said to expect some Marvel characters to be gracing our tv screens since the creation of their new television department. So MTV ran a poll and asked readers who they would want to see most. Unsurprisingly, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, The Heroes For Hire topped it. So when they caught up with Jeff Loeb at NYCC, this is what they found out..

"I know the poll very well, believe me, It was brought into my life."

"While I don't want to exactly comment on development per se, a lot of the things that were on that list ... people will not be disappointed by,"

"I thought what was really smart about the list was that, with some exceptions — like people asking whether there could be an "Avengers" television show, [because] we have a gigantic movie coming out in 2012 with the biggest cast ever in a movie — but for the most part, I think a lot of people who voted were savvy on two things: they were savvy on the idea of who the Marvel characters were, [and] they also understood it was television,

"We're never going to be able to do Iron Man the way they do with Robert Downey Jr. That movie is just so cool and so big. We have to look at stuff we can actually do."

'Heroes for Hire' is the kind of thing that certainly we could see being a television show, That's not to say it will be, but it's in the right spirit of the things."

"There are some pretty big surprises, however, [and] when we do finally announce what it is that we'll be doing, I think people will be going, 'Wow, you're really going to get out there and make something that will be huge and enormous and wonderful,'"

So nothing definite, but he certainly sounds enthusiastic about the possibility. But as much as I would enjoy seeing any number of characters, especially Cage and Iron Fist, in a tv show, if it ever got in the way of seeing them in a movie I think I would have to pass. And we also heard from Idris Elba teh other day, who suggested that Marvel have plans to bring Luke cage to the big screen. Surely they wouldn't do both. What do you folks think?

Great stuff. Any of Marvels street level characters would be completely adaptable to television. Heroes for hire is deservingly at the top of that list.

I think Cage and iron Fist may be the best comic duo ever. Unlike Bats and Robin or Cap and either Bucky or The Falcon, niether plays second fiddle. They are eqauls and the best of friends. With todays trend towards gritty, police type tv shows, I don't think Marvel could go wrong unless they camp it up. Something I don't forsee them doing.

heroes for hire, marvel should just save them for the big screen.:)

could end being like smallville.:(
zemus - 10/9/2010, 10:00 AM
I think this is a great idea, anyway to see luke and danny on the tv or big screen is a HUGE plus. I would also love to see Avenger Movie cameos. Like in one episode if Iron Man came to visit, or if they ran into Captian America, or Shield (all using the movie actors of course). That would really tie the whole universe together. And then if they needed to they could throw luke and danny into a movie without having to explain much.

i dont think i could end up being as awful as Smallville.. even Luke Cage being in 70's outfit wouldnt be as bad as Smallville.

But seriously:

Heroes For Hire
Would be good but it like to see a Iron Fist movie

Moon Knight
Would be awesome

Marvel Studios said they were making a new Punisher called Frank Castle but no one specifically said it had to be a movie

Union Jack
would pretty much be Torchwood with a guy in a mask.. still pretty damn fun to watch.

Would give a chance to have an ever switching cast of agents and possible super powered guest spots

Whatever they decide on a street level hero would be the smartest move. Daredevil, Heros For Hire, Moon Knight, or Punisher all sound great to me. I love Marvel's street level heros.
HBOMB83 - 10/9/2010, 10:39 AM
@ PAULEY Heroes For Hire would be good if done similar to the likes of FAST LANE, that was an awsome show that should have never died. PUNISHER might work. As far as I'm concerned, I would love to see something similar to SMALLVILLE. I know there are plenty of SMALLVILLE haters out there and I am probably gonna get rheamed by them for sayin this, but my personal choice that I also think would make a major run similar to that of SMALLVILLE would be YOUNG X-MEN. Just think about it Professor X bringing in new mutants to the school all the time. Highschool age characters learning how to use their powers. Multiple love triangles between the cast. It would even be cool if they pull a SMALLVILLE and make it an alternate universe type show where they don't have to have the limitations of a predefined time line.

Bandrews1 - 10/9/2010, 2:40 PM
Damn I would love to see this as a tv series, but would it be animated or live action?
zemus - 10/9/2010, 3:57 PM

I dont see why he cant have both, if they have the same actors, they could do a tv show that could be linked into the marvel movie universe. It honestly is the best plan for marvel. And if they are able to make refences that were seen in the marvel movies that would be just great.
Suzanne - 10/9/2010, 4:30 PM
I don't know why it's taken Marvel so long to do a TV Show. TV can represent your product just as well as movies can.
Rhys - 10/9/2010, 4:30 PM
(the title of the article should be DOES Marvel...)

If its gonna be a show, than HELL YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Although they BOTH deserve their own movies too!!!! :D :D :D

Danny's my FAVORITE superhero ever!!!(if you couldn't tell), And Cage is awesome!!! I can't wait to see them on screen!(weather its my television screen or the silver one)

:D :D :D :D
TrueBlue - 10/9/2010, 10:33 PM
Sounds great! I always thought that Heroes for Hire would be better suited for television then movies.
FoxForce5 - 10/10/2010, 6:44 AM
@ zemus: Agreed about making sure whatever live action show(s) Marvel makes should be linked together and linked to the movies. I don't really care if we never see Cap, Iron Man, Thor or any of the other Avengers, as long as we get the ocassional news report that something happened involving them or that Hulk just tore up Las Vegas or we see Stark Industries logos on things and maybe have a cameo by some random SHEILD agents here and there. Stuff like that & I'm good.
LEEE777 - 10/10/2010, 10:17 AM
Lol... I wouldn't hold my breath!

: P

Its MARVEL and live-action TV.. never happen!

Plus, ain't they getting their own movies?
Contrarian - 10/10/2010, 11:34 AM
I'd say Marvel Studios definately have a TV show planned. Why not Heroes for Hire? Marvel have Whedon directing the Avengers but I'd reckon he could run a show while writing the sequel. He did Buffy, Angel and Firefly at the same time for a year. Completely wishful thinking on my part here but I'm certain theres going to be a show and I'm certain Kevin Feige is going to ask Whedons advise on it.
hush - 10/11/2010, 1:06 AM
Luke Cage is too cool for the small screen.

Heroes for Hire should be on the big screen.
AshleyJWilliams - 10/16/2010, 7:50 AM
You guys they arent gonna be doing Heroes For Hire just yet. Right now they are gonna just get to work on two shows for ABC... The Incredible Hulk and Cloak & Dagger.

I personally would love a Heroes For Hire show but first I wanna see how the new Hulk show and Cloak & Dagger show far. Then I will consider a Heroes for Hire show.
wuji644 - 12/23/2010, 3:29 PM
okay i agree with alot of you, hfh would make a good show, danny and luke are a great buddy buddy cop-ish duo, kinda like lethal weapon style but that is a positive and a negative at the same time, there has only ever been one show/movie franchise to my memory that used the same actors for both, star trek the next generation, and well the technology used for those movies and show was redone over and over, so there was no chance for making a mistake at least in the fx dept. it woudnt be right for them to not use the same actors for the show and the movie, however what u can do is a movie bringing luke and danny together, and a show leading up to the next movie and so on, the real trick is to show what they can do in the show just not as expensive as the movie, and well if anyone read te immortal ironfist serious from beginning to end, you have two good movies at least in that series, i mean really good. i know every one would have been alright with ray park playing danny but i personally think hes a little too old for the part, maybe make him orson for the first ironfist movie... however cam gigandet hes got the right look persona and physique of danny and already has some martial arts experience...
