Rights to NAMOR back at marvel?

So apparently it's all going down at Marvel this week! The most recent news being that the rights to Namor could actually be with Marvel!!!

(I'd like to start by saying I'm not a writer, so bear with the poorley constructed article.)

According to comicbookbrainsplatter.com, Namor is not currently with Universal Studios (as Kevin Feige stated last year) and instead he may actually be with Marvel studios. The character's relationship with the Fantastic 4 has lead to a lack of clarity regarding his position in the past, but comicbookbrainsplatter reference a recent interview between Kevin Feige and IGN's Jim Vejvoda, where he states:

"No, Namor I think is a little complicated, the way some of them are. Elektra I think we have. I think that was part of Daredevil, and that's clean and simple. Kingpin we either have or somehow share. I'm not 100 percent clear on that one."

From this it is clear that the rights are a little more ambiguous than Feige first claimed. After this the article reference a tweet from The Holywood reporter's 'Bory's Kit', a trusted source, who states:

"But at least one thing is wrong: Universal does NOT have the rights to the Sub-Mariner. Marvel has them."

He then follows up the tweet by saying that he had done due dilligence with both parties and came to the same conclusion; that marvel has the rights. Now this has not been oficially clarified as of yet, but it would seem that Kevin Feige's original statement last year may have been a mistake, and at the very least he has been backtracking.
What do you guys think? How would you feel about Namor returning to the MCU afterall?

TheManFromMars - 5/24/2014, 6:44 PM
Okay, I need someone to officially confirm or deny this! Seriously!
wookiefit76 - 5/24/2014, 6:44 PM
unless he's in a movie, does it even matter?
wookiefit76 - 5/24/2014, 6:45 PM
I'd really like him with Hulk and Starnge in a Defenders Movie. They were my team as a kid, not the Avengers.
DaVinci31 - 5/24/2014, 6:46 PM
I'm pretty certain we'll see Namor back at Marvel soon, especially with the whole "merging of brands" statement Vin Diesel made a while back.
marvel72 - 5/24/2014, 6:46 PM

If true, this is great news.
wookiefit76 - 5/24/2014, 6:48 PM
I think this was my 1st Defenders book as a kid. This or an annual.

AlexanderLykins - 5/24/2014, 6:48 PM

Starfox - 5/24/2014, 6:49 PM
Nice Find!

I think a Namor movie would be amazing, think I read there's still some 'disputing' this rumor, just wonder if there's a limit of years when the rights would revert? I'd LOL if Namor made the big screen before Aquaman (though Aquaman is one of my fav DC characters, don't [frick]ing laugh ;) I'm just into the water thing, probably 'cause my bod looks like a [frick]ing whale...
MrMartinMarvel - 5/24/2014, 6:49 PM
If they make a Namor movie they should get Edgar Wright to direc- oh wait. JK I'm not even entirely sure that joke works.
MediaMan - 5/24/2014, 6:49 PM
Hulk vs Sub-Mariner - always some classic fights back in the day (especially Tales to Astonish #100). Would love to see that on the big screen.

Hope this is true, & that Marvel makes good use of it.

BTW, for a first article, don't feel bad, Cronnyberg. And take that from someone who's done professional writing. You really only had a few minor errors, and I've certainly seen much worse from Web writers with far more experience than you.
wookiefit76 - 5/24/2014, 6:49 PM
wasn't there a tease of Namor in Iron Man 2 on the screen/map behind Tony and the name of one of the builings at the Expo?

Starfox - 5/24/2014, 6:51 PM
Bory's Kit is Legit. Great News!
cronnyberg - 5/24/2014, 6:52 PM

wookiefit76 - 5/24/2014, 6:55 PM
@ mediaman

web writers only use two buttons: copy and paste
wookiefit76 - 5/24/2014, 6:56 PM
@ JoeMamma

That's cool. Nothing better then when your yard is landscaped the way you finally want it. Took me 3 years to get mine the way I liked it.
batz11 - 5/24/2014, 7:00 PM
yep, wookie, and BP baby!
JoeMomma29 - 5/24/2014, 7:03 PM
If the rights are with Marvel I wonder if the even have this guy slated for a movie?
batz11 - 5/24/2014, 7:03 PM
@Joe, you didn't tell my you were an athlete?
SidTheManicorn - 5/24/2014, 7:03 PM
Speedo! Give me some underwater junk in 3D
batz11 - 5/24/2014, 7:05 PM
Too bad DC already nabbed him, [frick]ers...
RextheKing - 5/24/2014, 7:06 PM
Been hearing this all day... Get a confirmation and I'll be happy.
SuperCat - 5/24/2014, 7:06 PM
Doctor Strange and Namor in a Defenders movie would be a dream come true. Could be as big as the Avengers film.
batz11 - 5/24/2014, 7:08 PM
Like others are saying, yeah, The Defenders would be [frick]ing epic...imagine how the MCU with them and Inhumans, could go on forever making cool movies...
BlackIceJoe - 5/24/2014, 7:08 PM
I think this would be great. A Namor movie by himself at Universal wouldn't be that great. But with other Marvel characters in the film I can see the film being great. I wonder if he will show up in the third Avengers film?
BoomTubeB - 5/24/2014, 7:09 PM
most people outside the comic book world don't know who he is! if anything have him appear in capt America 3 & break him in to the public eye!
0megaDaGod - 5/24/2014, 7:09 PM
This movie own
SidTheManicorn - 5/24/2014, 7:09 PM
I know Batz is excited for a Namor film
KallarkKent - 5/24/2014, 7:09 PM
One step closer to hopefully seeing the illuminati in MCU :)
SniktBub - 5/24/2014, 7:14 PM
Make way for the true ruler of Atlantis- Orin, King of the Seven Seas, First of his Name, Son of Atlan. Namor's a pretender
McGee - 5/24/2014, 7:14 PM
BlackIceJoe - 5/24/2014, 7:15 PM
I will say this if it's true maybe Jason Momoa really is playing Namor and not Aquaman. The reason why I say that is because of rumors keep saying he will play Aquaman. So maybe something got lost in translation and he is playing this guy from Atlantis instead. Plus Jason originally was to be in another Marvel film. So maybe he held out for this movie instead.
batz11 - 5/24/2014, 7:19 PM
LOL Sid, pucker up!
