Summary:
Tagged by the company as "Earth’s Mightiest Heroes", the Avengers originally consisted of Ant-Man, Wasp, Thor, Iron Man, and the Hulk. Almost from inception, however, the roster has been fluid, with the Hulk departing[1] and Captain America joining.[2] The rotating roster has become a hallmark of the team, although one theme remains consistent: the Avengers fight the foes no single superhero can withstand - hence their famous cry of "Avengers Assemble!"
Hulk Sets up Avengers
When in 2005 Marvel Studios announced that they would begin to produce their own properties as movies, we knew that within the decade we would see the Avengers. With 2008 seeing Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk hitting screens, you just know that there is going to be some avengers set up.

Favreau’s Iron Man Looking to the Avengers

Marvel’s 2009 to be Slow Year; Big Income Though
Turning from a company who simply licenses its characters out to other studios in to a studio that makes the movies themselves has allowed Marvel a lot more freedom. However this freedom has sadly run up against the wall of past and possibly future labor issues. Take the jump for why 2009 might only see one Marvel movie hit the big screens.
Is the Writers’ Strike Coming to an End? Who Cares, Marvel broke through!
It has taken me a little bit to get around to this, but I blame it on the fact that my circadian rhythm is shot to hell and back. Nonetheless, Marvel has signed a deal with the WGA, but it may be moot if the talks continue to go well.

Avengers and Batman: Animated Extravaganza
No, there won’t be a crossover event out of the 80’s making its way to a store near you, but simply a report on two new direct-to-DVD projects that you will want to keep your eye on this year. Next Avengers: Heroes of Tomorrow and Batman: Gotham Knight.
Jon Favreau to direct Avengers
OK, that heading is totally incorrect, and I won’t let you think otherwise for a minute. But he’d sure like too, according to a recent interview. The man behind the Iron Man movie has a bit to say on Marvel’s version of the Justice League, and just how they’re going about it.
Marvel Editor in Chief on The Avengers
The big man at Marvel, Joe Quesada, its Editor in Chief, was recently questioned regarding the chances of an Avengers film. After a few follow up corrections from news sources, the verdict is out; Avengers yes: Marvel team-up, not so much.
