Hulks Performances on the big screen
How has the the Jade Giants performance changed since he appeared on the big screen in 2003 to this years The Avengers? Im here to break them down
Way back in 2003 a little well known movie called Hulk was released. Back then it was a phenomenal movie, yes it barely brought in the bacon in terms of box office ratings but it set a new bar for technology and character performances. Later in 2008 we had a even more well known movie titled "The Incredible Hulk which also barely brought in box office success as well as its predecessor, many agree to this day that the movie was a "THE" definitive hulk of a generation. Now in 2012 he have a newly revamped hulk for Marvels The Avengers. This hulk was carefully put together and was scene for a couple of short periods within the film but made the movie such a box office success nearly bringing in 1.6 billion dollars. I'm Going To break each performance down in terms of looks/style and character portrayal. So if you were looking for a Bruce Banner performances review well i suggest you try youtube.
1. Hulk(2003) This hulk in terms of style and design is mehh for but for the time in the early past decade it was ok. The hulk was never really a muscular toned hulk. This hulk was some what in shape but in terms of a fat man having abs. He was also a little too clean, by that i mean the way they made him look was a kinda dooey clean cut giant. When i think of a hulk i think scruffy big and loner looking. You could never really connect with this hulk when he attempted to show emotion. The only time i really enjoyed watching the hulk was when he was on the run and skipping nearly 100 miles in one leap. In terms of portrayal he never really looked like Eric Banna who was playing bruce banner at the time. In that movie Hulk seemed like a really angry man than a really angry hulk. Hulk is more than a man in terms of personality but he just seemed like a shy and angry green man.
2. The Incredible Hulk(2008)This hulk in terms of look was on the right track for design in terms of taking from the comics. His pants were shredded they didnt expand as he did they ripped. It's sometimes the tiny details which count the most. This hulk was a bit scruffy with a mid 5 o'clock shadow. They grown out hair seemed like a nice touch gave him a tad of mystery. The Hulk was very much in shape in this movie Marvel nearly hit the mark with this new design of their famed strong man character. Some questioned if he was too muscular because pf his many bulging vains and over rippling muscles. A trait in which i would not mind to have at all, biologically of course *wink *wink. Unfortunatley this hulk had little to no signs of its banners facial features at all. That may have been a good move because i can't imagine a larger green version of Edward Norton. Now in terms of portrayl This hulk came off as a bit of an angry frustrated caveman. That is an actually good way to go. The hulk is a banner but in a more primal state of mind. So that was ultimatley a very good decision. You could actually feel hulks anger and frustration with ross and blansky. You could also see it in his face how protective he was of betty. That is a hulk i dont mind seeing once or twice.
3. The Avengers(2012) This may be the best incarnation of the cinematic hul yet. The technology available to this movie made The Hulk so much better than any other incarnation. In terms of design this is a very accurate hulk. Mark Ruffalo has very primal like features which actually make The Hulk look more like The Hulk. He looked very much like a bigger version of his counter part banner and marvel has gotten many props for that. He is right in the middle of the two previous hulks in terms of physique. He is muscualar but not to overly muscular where it looks almost human esque. He also had slight chest hair to go along with mark ruffalo which was a vey nice specific detail which makes the hulk more real. In terms of portrayal he was fantastic. Once again we go back to the primal animal which the hulk is to banner. They mad him almost ape like but not to an intensity. He bled because of beating he looked sad almost in mid transformation because he hates what happens when the hulk is unleashed. You can really see Mark Ruffalo's emotions, his anger and his sadness and his cockiness. This hulk and his performance has set a new high and raised the bar for any other actors to take on this INCREDIBlE mantle.
