Del Toro Reveals Hellboy 2 Details

With the successful rollout this week of the Hellboy DVD, the sequel is gathering up steam.

Director Guillermo Del Toro said Hellboy 2 will feature Johann, the ectoplasmic member of the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Defense but will have brand new villains not seen in the comics.

Hellboy creator Mike Mignola is again working with Del Toro on the plot of the sequel which will see the half man/half devil leave the city and go into ancient, mythic Europe.

The original cast (Ron Perlman as Hellboy, Selma Blair as Liz Sherman, Doug Jones as Abe Sapien) will all return, except for Agent Myers (played by Rupert Evans), Del Toro said. There'll even be a flashback scene with John Hurt as Prof. Broom.

Look for an early 2006 release date.
