Justice League going Motion Capture?

The news just keeps on flowing in, fast and furious you could say, and it get’s juicier by the minute. News out of IESB is that the Justice League movie that has drawn so much attention over the past week could very well be entirely digital.
An informant has suggested, and has since been semi-confirmed by Robert Sanchez at IESB, that Sony Imageworks is being lined up to work on the new Justice League movie. That is not so surprising, as they were the team who worked on the Superman Returns flick, but what is surprising is that apparently they are set to capture the entire movie.

This means that, instead of flesh and blood actors, we’ll be seeing digital renderings such as what we’ll be treated to in the upcoming film Beowulf. Imageworks are apparently in competition with R&H and possibly WETA for this job, the latter obviously famous for their work on Gollum in the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Given the quick move to casting, and George Miller’s success with movies such as Happy Feet, this idea is not an implausible one. By casting on an acting ability rather than on looks, speed is gained towards the beginning of shooting. But with a tech heavy load to pull, an entirely mo-cap film is more likely to make it to cinemas late 2010, early 2011.

However that once again places more evidence behind this rumor being on the money, with that allowing for the Batman series at least to complete their opening trilogy. In addition, it makes up for the absences of Brandon Routh and Christian Bale and, at least by my speculation, Ryan Reynolds as well.

We’ll continue to keep you updated with whatever information comes our way, as well as our own unique brand of supposition and commentary.
