Not since the Jack Black/Green Lantern fiasco have so many comic book movie fans been up-in-arms about a film! It was deja-vu all over again when it was announced that Seth Rogan would play the part of the Green Hornet. Most people assumed "comedy," and immediately condemned the project, but appearing on Letterman Monday night visibly slimmer, it looks like Seth may be taking this seriously...
| Rogen told David Letterman that his personal trailer is working him hard and that he exerts himself to the point of throwing up. He plans on losing at least 30 pounds for the role of Britt Reid in the adaptation of the 1966 television series "The Green Hornet."
Rogen said "I lost a little weight... I have a personal trainer now... it's really hard. I exercised to the point where he made me throw up. I thought he'd be kind of supportive about it - rub my back, or hold my hair out of my face. There was none of that at all. He seemed totally disappointed in me."
The Green Hornet's alter-ego is Britt Reid, a newspaper playboy who puts on a green mask and fights crime with his asian sidekick Kato. That role made famous by martial artist legend Bruce Lee.
The character was created by Fran Striker and George Trendle, who also created The Lone Ranger. Originally conceived for radio, The Green Hornet has been adapted to film, television and comics.
There is no director assigned at present, nor has a Kato been cast (although Rogen wants Stephen Chow for the role). Expect to see The Green Hornet on June 25, 2010. |
