The UK Toy Fair unveiled several collectible license holders for this summers anticipated motion picture: Alien vs. Predator (AVP).
On the action figure front, McFarlane Toys will usher in the goods. Unlike last years Alien and Predator based Movie Maniacs 6, this yet to be announced assortment will stand alone as its own line - much like their previous Terminator 3 figures.
High-end resin collectibles will be in the good hands of Palisades. Very much like McFarlane, Palisades is no stranger to the properity. Palisades' upcoming AVP pieces were shown at the UK Toy Fair in the form of concept art. Due to licensing restrictions via FOX, (read movie image spoilers), we are not permitted to show you these. I will say that an Alien and Predator with intricate interlocking bases are involved. As is an Alien Queen.
From movie images I was shown, the Aliens look pretty much like the smooth-domed critters of Alien 4 - though a tad bulkier at the shoulders. These were NOT designed by HR Giger. Like the fourth movie - Alien: Resurrection - they will be depicted as being extremely resourceful. The Predators share a similar former movie appearance. New points of interest include longer retractable wrist claws and the use of a net. They also share a passion for architecture - old Egyptian/Inca style.
Overall, the film and collectibles will appeal to the many eagerily awaiting this epic duel. Place your bets on who will win now!
