First Full PENNY DREADFUL Trailer Is Creepy, Gory & Sexy

Here we have a two-minute look at Showtime’s upcoming horror series Penny Dreadful, which stars Eva Green, Josh Hartnett and Timothy Dalton. There's a very eerie vibe from this, not to mention enough teases of blood 'n skin to make things very interesting. Take a look after the jump.

In Penny Dreadful, some of literature's most famously terrifying characters -- including Dr. Frankenstein, Dorian Gray and iconic figures from the novel Dracula, all brilliantly reimagined in a whole new light -- have become embroiled in Victorian London. The series stars Josh Hartnett (Black Hawk Down), Eva Green (Casino Royale) Timothy Dalton (The Living Daylights and License to Kill), Reeve Carney (Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark), Rory Kinnear (Skyfall), Harry Treadaway (The Lone Ranger), Billie Piper (Doctor Who, Secret Diary of a Call Girl) and Danny Sapani (The Bill).

The series is a frightening psychosexual thriller created, written and executive produced by three-time Oscar® nominee John Logan (Hugo, The Aviator, Gladiator) and executive produced by Logan's Desert Wolf Productions, along with Oscar winner Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Skyfall) and Pippa Harris (Revolutionary Road, Call The Midwife), both of Neal Street. Of the eight episodes, the first two will be directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, who helmed The Orphanage and the acclaimed film, The Impossible starring Naomi Watts in her Oscar-nominated performance.

Penny Dreadful premieres May 11th on Showtime.

KryptonianWarrior - 2/14/2014, 5:04 PM
@MrDonut I agree! I believe he was also up for Superman as well, at one time. I think he would have done really well with either role.
JorL5150 - 2/14/2014, 5:17 PM

Looks so good. They need to do a devil in the white city show similar to this
IAmDavid13 - 2/14/2014, 6:35 PM
Funny you mentioned devil in the white city, Leonardo Dicaprio said in an interview this week that the script is in place and that he's really gearing up to play the main lead.

They should get Jonathan Rhys Meyers to play Dracula. I loved him in his show. Plus, It's got Rose Tyler and a mature rating. Count me in.
Darkseid85 - 2/14/2014, 9:08 PM
OOOHHHHH MMMMYYYYY, I AM THERE. This looks awesomeeeeee. That is the chick from Casino Royale, love her. Hartnett even looks pretty good for this role, i am excited, lets watch it again.
thor2273 - 2/14/2014, 9:26 PM
cool I always felt Dorian Gray was an underrated character.
thor2273 - 2/14/2014, 9:50 PM
@DarkSuperman I liked the show too, especially him posing as an American. With the low rating I don't think it's coming back next season but at lest Hannibal is going to it's place. Mads Mikkelsen is great as a young Lecter(which is funny because Mikkelsen is almost 50)
jimoakley666 - 2/14/2014, 10:38 PM
Eva Green is... Just a perfect human being. Good, god, she is pure 100% sexy.

I recon Timothy Dalton is VanHelsing going on that trailer.
Dunejedi - 2/14/2014, 11:28 PM
This could be good.
ClarkFarley2012 - 2/14/2014, 11:54 PM

EarOne - 2/15/2014, 1:51 AM
TV show audience are WINNING. With Breaking Bad, Dexter and The Sopranos all being gone..and some of the latest hypes, like Black List and Agents of SHIELD being lack lusting disappointments.. M really hoping for that next GREAT TV show..with the last being Homeland. and THIS looks like is IT.
Bl00dwerK - 2/15/2014, 2:18 AM
Showtime & HBO. Totally worth it...
WarmAndGushy - 2/15/2014, 3:05 AM
@Supercat and @WhySoSerious

Those GIF's you posted are hysterical, the show looks good cant wait!
superbatspiderman - 2/15/2014, 8:04 PM
@EarOne- There are plenty of good TV shows out there you just need to look harder. Arrow, Game of Thrones, Black Sails, and True Detective are all great shows to watch.

Filmed in my home city Dublin which is pretty cool, and it actually looks decent. Always liked Hartnett though still cannot believe turned down $100million to be Supes for possible trilogy, but he gave a pretty insightful interview on one of our chat shows explaining his reasons for turning his back on the Hollywood machine after what he and the cast and crew witnessed making Black Hawk Down.
