R.I.P. I wonder how much of the billions that came out of the Batman/Robin/Joker franchise he was able to get for himself and his family? I hope it was a fair amount. He gave us characters that will never go away. That is saying something.

Prof: Do you approve of the way they're handling the character?

JR: Well so far. You never know until you see the whole thing put together. I'm very enthusiastic and they're doing a great job. I've met the people, the actors and they're all first rate. As is the director.

I'm glad he got to see Ledger's Joker. I'm sure he enjoyed The Dark Knight immensely.

Mr Robinson

I was first introduced to the world of Batman (and comic books in general) when I was 5 years old back in 1973.Since then I have made your creations part of a life dedicated to the consumption of fantasy adventure,SCI FI and horror.Rest assured I have worked hard to pass on this love to my own sons, a love that your greatest creation has an honored place.I can not fully express my gratitude for your life time body of work but I wish to state that it will surely outlive us all in the hearts and imaginations of those (many unborn)who can find, nurture and maintain that childlike sense of wonder that led us to comics in the first place. My heart goes out to your family and friends for the loss of a life that touched so many.

The Joker isn't only one of the best villains in comics, he's also one of the best villains in entertainment, period. Movies, books, doesn't matter, Joker is one of the greatest ever.

Its a sad day for comics.

(even though there's a definate dispute over who actually deserves credit for creating Joker...)
