Matthew Vaughn Searching For SUPERIOR Director; THE SECRET SERVICE Sequels Planned?

Mark Millar has revealed that we should expect to see The Secret Service comic books AND movies hit every two to three years, while he also lets slip the fact that Superior producer Matthew Vaughn is looking for a director for that film as well. Check it out!

Mark Millar has once again taken to his Twitter account (@mrmarkmillar) to offer yet another update on the status of the big screen adaptations of both The Secret Service and Superior. While we recently learned that Matthew Vaughn decided to leave the director's chair of X-Men: Days of Future Past to helm the former, it's been a while since we've heard anything at all about the latter. In fact, with work on Kick-Ass 2, Nemesis, Supercrooks, and Wanted 2 all moving ahead, it would be easy to forget about Millar's collaboration with artist Leinil Yu on the superb series. Well, he told one of his followers last night, "We're doing a movie of Superior. You'll hear more about it after Christmas. Matthew Vaughn producing & choosing director." Meanwhile, Millar also revealed that as he closes in on writing the final few pages of The Secret Service comic book series, the plan is for him and Dave Gibbons, "to do one of these every two or three years, same as the movie adaptations. Casting is INSPIRED by the way." So, they not only have a cast lined up, but also have plans for a franchise, although Millar later clarified that, "The movie will HOPEFULLY be a franchise too, but we need to see how it performs first." Stay tuned for further updates!

So basically Millar's idea of an"expanded" universe is getting more of his characters on screen, lol ok.
SmellofDuty - 11/16/2012, 5:36 AM
Are Millers super-powered characters in the same universe? I've only read Kick ass.
Giznad - 11/16/2012, 5:49 AM
Wait wait wait wait wait. I gotta put up with Singer directing because Vaughn felt he needed to CHOOSE someone to direct Millar's movie? I'm turnin' into a grinch over here.

Jeez Millar sure loves to count his eggs before they hatch...the dude is talking about sequals to movies that are not even green lighted yet.
sameoldthing - 11/16/2012, 6:14 AM
Yea,Mysterion is your jets Mark.
I hope the movie(s) turn out excellent but its best not to announced a franchise until the film is in the can & ya can see what ya got.

So, his plan as creative consultant or whatever is to push all of his projects to the front of the line?
Wow, I didn't realize the fanbase for the "Millarverse" was so large!
Giznad - 11/16/2012, 6:26 AM
Wait I misread. I apologize.

millar's one shameless POS mother[frick]er.

he's just abusing his position to get his own shitty comics adapted. he even made vaughn drop out of x-men to make his shitty "original" film, which he thinks others are ripping off. and he's getting ahead of himself with sequel talk isn't he?

i don't think he gives two shits about x-men, or FF. he's out for himself.

speaking of which, while these shit films are being fast-tracked, i haven't heard a damn thing about the FF reboot

Why is the riddler in Kick-ass 2?
jimpinto24 - 11/16/2012, 8:07 AM

I'm a big fan of Millar, sure sometimes he goes a bit over the top, but I sill find it fresh and badass! haha

And I own Kick-Ass Vol 1, Nemesis, The Ultimates, and Wanted, and I really want to get Superior! :D

I just hope they can pull it off in a way that itll be its own movie without people saying its a "rip-off" of Superman.
duncboy - 11/16/2012, 2:24 PM
@SmellofDuty - Millar has said that each of his characters is their own story/universe, but we all know that can change at any point.

Idk I'm kinda irritated of him dragging vaughn out of xmen: dofp so he's not really growing on me as a creative consultant
