UPDATE: Charlie Hunnam In Final Negotiations To Play Guy Ritchie's KING ARTHUR

<font size color="red">UPDATE:</font> Charlie Hunnam In Final Negotiations To Play Guy Ritchie's KING ARTHUR

According to Deadline, Guy Ritchie and Warner Bros. want Pacific Rim star Charlie Hunnam for the lead in Knights Of The Roundtable: King Arthur. Plus, Elizabeth Olsen is also said to be in line for the female lead.

Deadline report that the Son of Anarchy himself, Charlie Hunnam, has been lined up to star as the good King Arthur Pendragon in Guy Ritchie's take on the legendary tale, which is now officially titled Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur. Apparently Hunnam is now in final negotiations, and a deal looks like a sure thing. The project also has CBM fave and Hunnam's Pacific Rim costar Idris Elba on board, and although the Thor: The Dark World actor was originally said to be playing a character called Bedivere, Deadline reckon it'll actually be Merlin the Wizard! The site also confirm that WB are planning a six film saga. There have been various movies, comics and tv shows based around Arthurian legend over the years, including the underrated Camelot and the mediocre Disney produced flick with Clive Owen in the title role. The most successful take was arguably John Boorman's Excalibur back in 1981. Akiva Goldsman and Tory Tunnell will produce, Joby Harold (Awake, Edge Of Tomorrow) is on script duty. The movie is set for a July 22, 2016 release.

UPDATE: According to Variety, Elizabeth Olsen is also in negotiations for the female lead (presumably Guinevere). They also mention that both Henry Cavill and Jai Courtney read for the Arthur role.

Charlie Hunnam is a horrible actor. Pacific Rim is cringeworthy because of his constant fuuuckups
GliderMan - 8/27/2014, 5:27 PM
Damn, hell yes, hell [frick]ing yes.

I hope the 6 film saga is true too. If done right this could be so [frick]ing badass.
HurricaneXavier - 8/27/2014, 5:28 PM
If you think he's a bad actor you're a moron. Dude is amazing on Sons.
GliderMan - 8/27/2014, 5:30 PM
SauronsBANE - 8/27/2014, 5:35 PM
GliderMan knows what's up. Monty Python is EASILY the best King Arthur movie ever haha
RorMachine - 8/27/2014, 5:36 PM
Um, no he isn't..he is capable on SOA..that's all. And he's been TERRIBLE is every movie he's appeared in. Awful choice.
DrDoom - 8/27/2014, 5:38 PM
Should just be called Knights of the Round Table. The full title is too long.
DCGuy - 8/27/2014, 5:38 PM
@RorMachine he was good in the Ledge movie.
dutchman - 8/27/2014, 5:38 PM
yes you go Hunnam you go
l0rdleg0las - 8/27/2014, 5:38 PM
Dude is an awesome actor. It was the Pacific Rim script that made him look bad. I am going to miss Sons of Anarchy when it ends.
RorMachine - 8/27/2014, 5:41 PM
Dude can't do any kind of convincing accent, be it American or English..and he IS bloody English!
DrDoom - 8/27/2014, 5:42 PM
Charlie Hunnam is Ror's Andrew Garfield.
SuperCat - 8/27/2014, 5:42 PM
I still love "Pacific Rim."
HurricaneXavier - 8/27/2014, 5:44 PM
@Supercat I can appreciate the movie for what it is, I think its great.
MrBlackJack - 8/27/2014, 5:45 PM
To be fair in a film like Pacific Rim nobody should have been expected to turn in amazing performances.
DeusExSponge - 8/27/2014, 5:45 PM
Every comment is bold now!
Spooks - 8/27/2014, 5:46 PM
@Ror Opinions are like assholes, mate ;)
Starfox - 8/27/2014, 5:48 PM
Remember that rumor of Him being up for the Flash or something?
DaVinci31 - 8/27/2014, 5:48 PM
Pacific Rim was a very irritating film to watch . . .
TheRationalNerd - 8/27/2014, 5:48 PM
Yesssss!! I really want him to be the next Thor as well! :D
SuperCat - 8/27/2014, 5:49 PM
@ MrBlackjack and @ HurricaneXavier

Agreed! F*ck, to be honest, I just wanted to see some giant ass robots and monsters.
yonny616 - 8/27/2014, 5:50 PM
I think he would have made a good Aquaman. Has the look, decent actor, and has isn't well known beside SOA.
MrBlackJack - 8/27/2014, 5:57 PM

And it seems like that's all that GDT intended it to be. It was meant to be rather mindless action packed film, not some outstanding character piece or story driven film.
TankD - 8/27/2014, 5:58 PM
jai courtney needs to be fired from hollywood in general. and cavil is already supes so lets give this one to hunnam.
Alien - 8/27/2014, 5:59 PM
I am so sick of Jai Courtney, sure he was good in Spartacus but if you want to talk about an incompetent actor he's your man. Him or Sam Worthington.
Reasonnnn - 8/27/2014, 6:00 PM
MrBlackJack - 8/27/2014, 6:03 PM
Cavill would be interesting, at least more interesting than Courtney and Hunnam.
Kevwebsz - 8/27/2014, 6:03 PM
Battabing - 8/27/2014, 6:05 PM
Just the spelling of his name makes me want to kick Jai Courtney in his dick.
DeusExSponge - 8/27/2014, 6:05 PM
Ohhh Elizabeth Olsen as Guinevere! Wonder who's going to be Lancelot then? Personally, I think Charlie Hunnam is more suited for Lancelot.
RorMachine - 8/27/2014, 6:06 PM
Sorry, just can't stand the guy..his walk even annoys me. Granted nobody came outta Pacific Rim looking very good, but he was the worst. I honestly laughed out loud at some of his narration.
