VIDEO: Yes, Mickey Rourke Still Hates Marvel Studios

Not that it matters at this point, but Iron Man 2 actor Mickey Rourke has expressed his distaste for Marvel Studios yet again, now while promoting Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. Check it out after the jump!

Mickey Rourke has made it no secret that he's not a fan of Marvel Studios after his Iron Man 2 villain role as Ivan Vanko, aka Whiplash... or Crimson Dynamo, somehow became "one-dimensional" during the editing process. In fact, the veteran actor has even said director Jon Favreau didn't have any balls, when it came to the finished product, which received mixed reviews, and how a lot of his scenes were cut possibly due to all the Avengers build-up. Well, Rourke recently stopped by NBC's Late Night with Seth Meyers show where he promoted the upcoming Sin City: A Dame To Kill For and, quite briefly, further expressed his hatred for Marvel Studios. The bashing began when the host suggested the actor had said he wasn't a comic book fan, to which Mickey corrected, "I'm not a Marvel fan." But is he a DC guy? "I don't know what that means," Rourke admitted, laughing. "I'm a Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller fan," he clarified, as for what made him join Sin City. "Once I did a movie for Marvel and they cut the whole f#cking thing out." What do you think?

Whoa, I didn't even know he hated them in the first place.
MrBlackJack - 8/14/2014, 9:22 PM
I get the feeling there's a lot of people Rourke hates though.
HurricaneXavier - 8/14/2014, 9:22 PM
Dude is taking a beating from Father Time.

I always liked Rourke, he just doesn't give a damn.

Marvel fanboy security is about to damage control super hard.

HurricaneXavier - 8/14/2014, 9:25 PM
@MrBlackjack I think you're right. I mean, I can respect why he would be annoyed that things got cut out, but he doesn't exactly seem like he gets along with people well.
ALegendaryPanda - 8/14/2014, 9:25 PM
Well... I guess he won't be invited to Kevin Feige's Christmas party!
gamecreatorjj - 8/14/2014, 9:25 PM
I love Rourke, not too often do you see Celebs actively diss studios

This article is about to go down in flames, the fire is rising!

Whats the story behind this hate of his?
TheAstoundingMan - 8/14/2014, 9:28 PM
I don't blame him for feeling bitter. Marvel really needs to let their villains have a little more time in the limelight, or at least mix things up a little.

Ronan was cool and all, but I hope he's the last 'deranged maniac' we see for a while.

Mickey, we gotta talk about the hair. You look like a cockatoo.
DCGuy - 8/14/2014, 9:30 PM
Rourke: I'm a frank Miller guy
>Frank has made a bunch of DC comics even his most famous comic ever is for DC LOL
DrKinsolving - 8/14/2014, 9:31 PM
In all fairness, Rourke is responsible for the popcorn trick....

MrBlackJack - 8/14/2014, 9:31 PM
Now I'm not saying it should happen, but if some of grandpa's happy pills ended up in one of his drinks or sandwiches it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world.
AsgardianHobo - 8/14/2014, 9:31 PM

They cut scenes and character development that he wanted to be in. Blame whoever you want, be he mad.
AsgardianHobo - 8/14/2014, 9:32 PM
I would love to see everything that he envisioned though
DeusExSponge - 8/14/2014, 9:32 PM
DCGuy - I believe this hate stems from Marvel cutting some scenes out from Iron Man 2 and those scenes had Rourke's character in it.
BaneSmash - 8/14/2014, 9:34 PM
Ronan got his ass kicked by a dance off! He sucked.
AsgardianHobo - 8/14/2014, 9:36 PM

You claim to be an adult, but I still fail to believe it.
AlexanderLykins - 8/14/2014, 9:36 PM
The thirst is real!

MexicanSexyman - 8/14/2014, 9:36 PM
Whiplash was badass in the beginning of Ironman 2 then Marvel dropped the ball with him.
KilledHal9000 - 8/14/2014, 9:36 PM
Damn dude seems nuts.
MrBlackJack - 8/14/2014, 9:36 PM
Although yeah Rourke deserves some credit for giving his opinion and speaking out.
mbembet - 8/14/2014, 9:37 PM
couldn't blame him iron man 2 was garbage
DCGuy - 8/14/2014, 9:37 PM
wow the dude has a legit reason to be mad then.
Him - 8/14/2014, 9:38 PM
Instead of developing the villain they had ironman sit in a donut. Its definitely the worst mcu movie.
AlexanderLykins - 8/14/2014, 9:38 PM
I can't believe Marvel Studios would do this to Mickey Rourke! He's a darn legend in the business!

AsgardianHobo - 8/14/2014, 9:39 PM

I agree. The sequence at the end was awesome, but EXTREMELY too short. Like "WTF, its over already?" type short. Except for IM flying around for awhile.....
Nomis - 8/14/2014, 9:40 PM
He's great as MARV in SIN CITY!
AsgardianHobo - 8/14/2014, 9:41 PM
I will always like Mickey Rourke for "Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man". I'm old, check that shit out sometime.
bbman182 - 8/14/2014, 9:42 PM
Guy has always been the industry heel. DeNiro pretty much had him banned from Hollywood for a while... but I liked his performance in IM2, more-so than Immortals. Obviously the emotional depth was gonna go to RDJ in an Iron Man film.
ALegendaryPanda - 8/14/2014, 9:42 PM
Iron Man 2 was by far the worst MCU movie. I didn't completely hate it, but man what a [frick]ing let down that was.
AlexanderLykins - 8/14/2014, 9:43 PM
Bekss - 8/14/2014, 9:43 PM
There's more than one side of a story. In the audio commentary you can hear Favreau complain about him and how he ruined some scenes doing what he wanted. All the bird thing was Rourker idea.

Both parts had something to do.
String - 8/14/2014, 9:44 PM
Is there really anyone Mickey likes. He seems to be a hard person to get along with. I know Marvel regrets the day that he ever was a part of their universe. No way he would be hired in todays MCU. It makes one wonder if their vetting process on actors isn't due to their early experiences with some of the people they chose to work with.
