Let's Fight For Net Neutrality.

Net Neutrality is a concept very few people understand. But how does it affect the the comic book community and why should you care.

N
et Neutrality is the idea that the internet should... well... Remain the way it is now, free to roam and allow people to have a voice they believe in. But ISP lobbyists believe that the internet should be like a night club, your local  internet provider is the bouncer, the internet is the club, and if you wanna get in you have to  be either big name-like Netflix- or you have to pay a fee.

What this all means is your favorite mediums like Podcasts, Internet shows, Blogs, Youtube series, and Channels will be limited. What I want is simple; I want us as nerds to ban together to have our voice heard. I find politics boring and well shallow, but this is something I strongly believe in. I know it's not comic book related but I want you guys to join me and fight for net neutrality.

It's simple:
1. Go to the website below.
2. Write an email or even send a phone call (If you do the latter there is a script laid out for you on what to say.)
3. Share the site on Twitter, Facebook, and what have you.
Optional: Donate if you like. (I'd be a liar if I said I did.)

Thanks for reading guys.

I believe.

dethpillow - 7/16/2014, 6:10 PM
good article, actually for real.

but i think it'd be better if it was net chaotic neutral.

cuz if it's just pure neutral the only reason you do that is just to gain levels as a druid, and you know... kids today.
they just don't care about druids, everyone wants to be a [frick]ing warlock or a 15th level magical assassin rogue with the wind blowing in their hair...

so that's my only 2 cents.
i don't know maybe net lawful evil?
dethpillow - 7/16/2014, 6:12 PM

IronAngelX - 7/16/2014, 10:30 PM
I signed this. Freakin' government trying to dictate how we spend our internet usage.
LightspeedJones - 7/16/2014, 10:31 PM
Just in case anyone wants to know more about it, here's what the great John Oliver has to say about it:

MightyZeus - 7/16/2014, 11:06 PM
I'll thumb it up.
Marxman12 - 7/16/2014, 11:09 PM
Oh. Brother. Anyone here get their news from someplace other than Comedy Central?
Marxman12 - 7/16/2014, 11:22 PM
People, do your own research on this issue. Don't just take the media's word for it. There are consequences to all legislation. Net Neutrality is no different. It is not a broadening of freedoms but a regulation. A regulation puts restrictions on liberties. In the case of Net Neutrality, it puts financial burdens on companies and consumers. It also seeks to restrict free speech by limiting content.
RebelVulcan - 7/16/2014, 11:24 PM
Yeah, let's get this ball rolling. FREEDOM!!!!!
darthgeekboy - 7/16/2014, 11:32 PM
the end of NET neutrality essentially means that COMCAST will now have the power to slow down my connection to pornhub, while speedup my connection to a paying corporation like Disney. so ya........i'm definitely for NET neutrality.
aRandomSinisterClone - 7/16/2014, 11:36 PM
hell yea
chrispunk28 - 7/16/2014, 11:51 PM

I'm an FFTF member. I've been signing a lot of petitions for months. We've had some great victories.
Orehrepus - 7/17/2014, 2:43 AM
I would, but WTF, it's for Americans only.
AXE - 7/17/2014, 3:45 AM
America gets the shorthand again, I feel sorry for all of ya
NovaCorpsFan - 7/17/2014, 4:22 AM
If the USA implicate it, the other "powers" will try to as well. They tried to ban all pornography in the UK, people got up in arms, and if never happened because the government was scared. You Americans want to keep the internet the way it is, y'all best march up to congress and throw some petrol bombs through the windows.
CaptainAmerica31 - 7/17/2014, 5:19 AM
@nova congress won't pass it cause congress doesn't do shit
Pasto - 7/17/2014, 6:44 AM
Quick question:
Who gives a shit?
MexicanSuperman - 7/17/2014, 7:38 AM
@Pasto, well everyone should because it affects everyone with an internet connection you dumbass. People like you are the reason bull shit like this happens.
yossarian - 7/17/2014, 7:46 AM
You do realize that this is inevitable right? Once the Government can figure out a way to make big business some money then tax said money and collect a kickback, they are going to do it.

1 - Identity theft will increase
2 - Someone will incorporate "advanced" methods to stop it
3 - The Govt will back it with federal insurance to compensate victims
4 - It will be law

Then the people will have to pay the provider, pay the ID theft protection insurance, pay the taxes on it all and be blessed with a new bureaucratic branch which will take the liberty to operate above its budget while running victims ragged through procedure and pennies on the dollar in compensation.
Gusto - 7/17/2014, 8:53 AM
How does this effect boob pics?
Gusto - 7/17/2014, 9:01 AM
Personally, I think I should be made boss of the internet.
Then, if you guys buy me a kayak...I'll let you keep using it.
JokerFanHAhaHA - 7/17/2014, 10:21 AM
@Marxman- So you REALLY wanna impress your boss at Comcast, don't you?
darthgeekboy - 7/17/2014, 10:48 AM
if you want to fight for NET NEUTRALITY, you can also send a comment/complaint to the FCC via:

http://apps.fcc.gov/ecfs/upload/display?z=yg6go

and use the proceeding number: 14-28
if enough americans send the FCC complaints about this issue, they will listen. as of this time, they have close to 1,000,000 comments.

also, stop the merger between comcast and time-warner (proceeding 14-57).
darthgeekboy - 7/17/2014, 10:51 AM
or you can go directly to:
http://apps.fcc.gov/ecfs/upload/display?z=6gyn5
and use the proceeding number 14-28
HeisenbergSaysRelax - 7/17/2014, 7:43 PM
Anything that limits my ability to find free porn is something I'm against.

So I stand with you, JD. I STAND RIGHT THERE WITH YOU!!

WE GOTTA FIGHT!!

HeisenbergSaysRelax - 7/17/2014, 7:59 PM
No joke though. This is a serious matter and could affect the internet as we currently know it and make it harder for us to do the things we enjoy. If you love the internet like I do, I suggest you go to the site listed above ( http://dearfcc.org/ ) and let the FCC know how you feel about these new rules and restrictions.

It's our internet. We have to fight to protect it.
Greengo - 7/17/2014, 8:40 PM
Lmmfao @Gusto!!!

We should get a kickstarter account going for gusto's kayak.

I got five on it.
blackandyellow - 7/18/2014, 5:37 AM
The internet is just a fad anyways.
grifdeadpoolteabag - 7/21/2014, 5:02 AM
::rolls eyes::

Enjoy your high prices after the cartels take over, which is essentially what net neutrality advocates don't realize.

You're instituting price controls, creating barriers to entry, and restricting the market.

This is precisely what the Telecommunications Act did for phones, cable, and mobile.

Repeat after me:

"The Internet is not a public good."

The facilities by which you access it are owner by private individuals. No nerd in his mother's basement is more important that property rights. Forcing that man to allow Gusto to share monkey porn is the same as stealing or putting someone into slavery.

You unbelievable morons.
