Okay guys/girls, I'm going to start this article by saying that I'm glad we're all getting these CBMs. It doesn't really matter if they suck or not, or if we think they will suck or not. The point is that we are lucky to be able to get these movies. I'm pretty sure there are some other Editorials like this one, but the truth is, some of us are really excited by the fact that these movies are being made. I'm old enough to say that this superhero invasion is something good for the audiences in general, and I'm young enough to say that we get these movies every year and I just can't get enough of them. I really don't care whether the suits aren't accurate, or the casting isn't what I would have expected it to be. I am the first guy to acknowledge that a movie was poorly written(even if I'm a fan of the character or not), or that the acting was bad. I'm neither an actor nor a critic to make my message relevant in any of the mentioned cases.

This year we were given some great CBMs, Avengers was everything a comicbook fan would have wanted for a movie. The Amazing Spider-Man wasn't a let-down like many thought it was going to be, including the suit(which at first I didn't like but then it grew on me) that is barely an issue for anyone who's familiar with the character itself or its origins(okay,I know the origins were changed kind of drastically but the essence is there). Now we're about to watch the conclusion to the Batman trilogy. So far we've been reading some amazingly good reviews, probably the movie isn't as good as The Dark Knight but it's still a good comicbook movie all in all(haven't seen it yet but I'm looking forward to it).

All of this alone is awesome by itself, but this comic-con delivered, and let me tell you why.

-We got a first glimpse at the Man Of Steel.
-Marvel showed us what the Iron Man 3 armour looks like.
-Guardians of the Galaxy(Do I need to say any more?)
-We got the subtitles for the Captain America and Thor sequels. (Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Thor: The Dark World)
-We got confirmation on an Ant-Man movie.
And an awful lot of things yet to come.

What I'm saying is that we have to enjoy what we're getting. 30 years ago we only had Superman and Superman 2,both amazing movies by Richard Donner. Now we get to watch a growing variety of movies, whether we like them or not, at least we get the chance to watch them.

Marvelites,Whedonites,Nolanites, etc. Most people tag themselves in one of these categories or are tagged in one of them by others. I see fans, and you should see fans as well. Sure I myself have got my preferences, but why should I let you guys know, or refer to other users in a derogatory way? And besides, preferences or not, I'm always as hyped for these movies as the next guy.

Oh and by the way.For all of the people complaining about the Edit Button that is now long gone...I have a clever solution.

When you want to edit your comment follow these steps.
1. Copy what you just wrote.
2. Paste your comment on the comment box.
3. Post your comment again with whatever it is that you wanted to edit.
4. Delete your unedited comment.

As simple as that, and you don't have to let everyone know how you still miss the Edit Button.

This Editorial is just what it is. I enjoy movies just like you do, and I'm glad that we are getting these movies. No one should take sides because it's just not the right way. And if you take sides, don't let everyone know, we get it, we all think differently, but let's have some respect for the rest, because their opinion is just as valuable as yours.

Stay friendly!!!

What? Someone suggesting that we should enjoy the fact that comic book movies are better than ever instead of constant bickering over what property is better? But I want to insult someone on a personal level based on their preference in entertainment! *sarcasm* In all seriousness, couldn't agree more.
HeadPool420 - 7/16/2012, 8:52 PM
I agree we are all fans and should be happy with everything coming out.
Super12 - 7/16/2012, 9:04 PM
@RobGrizzly - can I report your comment? For being AWESOME.

Pop, pop! (Community fans, back me up!)

btw, completely agree with the article. It's not DC vs Marvel. I mean the two have borrowed enough from each other its like the pot calling the kettle black at this point. You can have a preference, but whats the point of blindly attacking the other side? The more the merrier. When DC does good, Marvel gets better. And when Marvel gets better, DC does too.

I'm confused. So we're all humanites and supposed to get along? That sound like an alien concept we should adopt, like a highway.
Archang3ll - 7/16/2012, 9:13 PM
Great Article. And I totally agree
Dunejedi - 7/16/2012, 9:18 PM
Good call on the good sportsmanship. And hopefully, the CBM is here to stay as a genre. It would be a shame if it returned to it's previous station of ridiculed fringe. I love that Marvel puts a cap on how many flicks they do a year (for now, anyway). The flame that burns twice as hot burns half as long.
LancerEvo - 7/16/2012, 9:21 PM
[frick] yeah Josh, I agree with this article 100%.

We really all should be grateful that we're seeing all our heroes come to life on the big screen. 20 years ago I never imagined I'd be seeing stuff like Optimus Prime or the Hulk smashing shit up on a large scale and not in cartoon form, and now through various brilliant minds and amazing special effects and camera techniques we've been given lots of that.

We're not supposed to be putting ourselves into separate camps, we should be united as one big fanbase: CBMers!!! :D

@churchofcomics7 down with the twilight it is!!!
Great time for movies of this genre can't wait for TDKR, huge fan of avengers and wishing I could've made comic-con this year it sounded epic.
ThunderKat - 7/16/2012, 9:38 PM
I appreciate your sentiment and mostly agree.

There's room to be critical of these movies as they are now their own genre. The part I like the least is people re-imagining their opinions of movies. Whatever do I mean?
For instance, when "Batman Begins" came out, nearly everyone thought it was one of the best origin stories. Seven years down the road, people are now changing their opinion.
Why? The movie didn't change. There hasn't been a better Batman origin movie (animated or live action) in that time.

It's okay to always love Donner's "Superman," not 'Begins?' Don't be swayed by the popular opinions on this or any website. Your opinion is yours! Stick to your guns.

You took the words right out of my mouth!! I am not like the feedback so far from Batman fans and Avengers fan who have made it a point to lash out against the three, yes count them three out of 34 reviews for the TDKR have been negative and this out cry is now leading to post and comments, being taken off websites, websites being policed, and yes even one of the critics sites overloading and being deleted for the time being. How can this uproar be anyway good for the comicbookmovie world, and most of all the movie franchise in questioned.
There's nothing wrong with posting your thoughts, no matter what they might include, however when enough of these postings lead to a band of people making it a point to purposely bash and hate those who oppose them, are causing much more of a problem for the movie they are trying to defend by being if you can say to honest, (for lack of a better word). I can't help but feel upset that TDKR rises is already gaining so much attention or more attention to the reaction of the fan boys who have responded to the negative reviews from critics for a film that has not even been released.
I know they say any news good or bad is still better than no news. And now with all this buzz and early reaction to the film mostly being great, is now being overshadow by the comments from fan boys posting there feelings towards the movie, and is somewhat now going to cause somewhat of a protest to people making it a point not to see this film, but first had intended to, before they were put off, or offended by these reactions, which if something like this could grow much bigger or deeper in two or three days, can and will impact the box office results of the move, which for me means something, since I know this movie will be way better than Avatar and should bump the movie out of their spot on the box office list, since the ever epic movie know as The Avengers for all it's glory could not do, and until the day I die, will never understand how more people went to see Avatar then The Avengers is beyond me, and just proves that no matter how much a movie makes at the box office doesn't determine the quality of a movie.
I am just stating for the time being people, please hold back a little with the responds to any negative review given to TDKR, and just be the bigger person and prove that more positive buzz then negative will always win out, and I know it's hard to hold your tongue when we feel like someone is posting thoughts or comments about a movie we cherish so much, but think about what would happen if the only responds made to a movie review were the positive ones, and the negative reviews comment section was blank! Let's not indulge some of the movie critics who would write a negative review just for the sake of attention, or another agenda they may have that is the cause for them to write their reviews . I know it's hard to phantom but some movie critics have what we would call bad taste, or is a movie snob. I do admit to being a movie snob, but we I see a movie I don' t like, the only time I speak of it, is when someone ask what I thought of the film. * My mother always said,"if you don't have anything nice to say, than don't say anything at all". And on that note, cue the exit music.
