Mechanical Webs shooters:
1. Displays Peters intellect
2. Adds drama by it being an expensive consumable product
-How does peter pay for this?
-What is needed to make it?
-How long does it take to run out?
-What does spider-man do when it runs out?
3. He can now improve it every movie or come up with other gadgets like his tracers.

Mechanical, because I loved it when Peter ran out of webbing in the cartoons, and had to fight Gobbie or the Vulture without use of webs.

mechanical because no spider shoots a web is secrets it, and spider web is spider-poo unless you want spidey bending over and shooting his arse at villains, i prefer the fact that the spider passed on the knowledge of what is in a web ans parker being the scientist figured how to use that with synthetic chemical compounds, and the running out mid swing is awesome scenario fuel

I never understood in Raimis movie where Spiderman makes his webs? How does he store so much web inside of his body? If his body makes the web at that pace why doesn't he ever run out?

I do have mixed feelings. However after seeing the mechanical in the trailers I am preferring them. They make more sense. If organic the webbing would be shooting out of his butt.

If Spidey made organic webbing, it should come out his butt, like a spider's. No, mechanical web-shooters make the most sense, in a world where genetically altered people bitten by radioactive arachnids put on costumes and fight crime.
And my two cents: This movie just looks way more enjoyable to me than TDKR. Will see this one in the theater for sure.

I've always preferred organic, but when spidey has his mechanical web shooters, it's cool when he adjusts them to fit certain situations.

The problem I have with Mechanical web shooters is looking at the wider story. Parker is poor, really poor. He works for the Bugle taking pictures just to make a little bit of money. If he had the practical genius to make these mechanical web shooters, he could modify the technology to hide it a little bit, and then make millions.
Also, the mechanical shooters add a complexity to the story that isn't needed in a movie. The organic shooters added more "spider" feel, and he did not have to worry about mixing up all these chemicals to make the webbing.
Yeah, yeah, the organic stuff should have shot out of his butt . . . you'll accept a human being being able to climb buildings because of little hairs on his fingers and dispite the fact that he's wearing shoes, but you can't accept webbing from his arms? Come on.

If spiderman couldn't afford webbing he could steal from the many labs hes always in. Parker being poor lends to the temptation to steal and he always had to make difficult financial decisions.
The spider feel you mention is an opinion of your. IMO his knowledge of how to make web makes him more in tune with spiders.
Anyone who likes organic is only a fan of Parker because of the first movies. If you read the books before hand this was always an issue of his. I prefer the comics of the 80s.

Parker would never mass produce web shooters because he doesn't want them used as a weapon. He would loose the uniqueness of his alter ego.

I wouldnt want to see Spider-Man having to STEAL in order to continue being a superhero...
That's just [frick]ed up.
Truth is, he doesn't have the money for it, and organic web shooters are easy and practical...
i voted organic for that reason, even though the mechanical ones are cooler

From seeing the trailer and clips, it appears to me that he may have found the formula and/or blueprints in the box of his dad's that he goes through, so most of the work might already have been done for him.
There's every chance I'm wrong but I'm a traditionalist and for me it's mechanical web-shooters all the way.
It can also add to greatly the drama when he runs out and has to think of other ways of dealing with whatever predicament he finds himself in.

Mechanical all the way. It creates suspense when he runs out, makes it more believable, and shows off just how smart Peter is. Like another poster stated, it gives possibilities for the future.

Mech because he can make a special batch for the villain at hand. Like a fire-proof batch or one that is extra strong when he fights the HULK. I like that he can have a special webbing for the occasion.

@localman: Spidey only had those little hairs on his fingers on Raimi's movies. That's not the case in the comics. In the comics and in TASM, it was always because of his ability to control electrostatic forces, which allows him to cling to anything.
Oh, and what you said about Peter selling the formula has already been done in the comics. He tried to sell it to a certain company but it was rejected because the company didn't see how an adhesive that dissolves in a few hours could be useful.

Mechanical makes Spiderman more vulnerable, he can run out. Glad they're not going with organic, I don't want to see Spiderman having "performance issues" with his webbing like in Spiderman 2.

ORGANIC WEB all the way!! it can't run out, it help peter in practical and financially
web-shooter need much money to make, its materials are expensive and parker is known as poor man he not always have money
and it annoyed me everytime he said "webbing dont grow on tree you know"
and I'm surpised some people here want him to STEAL just to make his webbing!! [frick]ing seriously!!

If they were actually organic webs he would be shooting them out of his ass. Plus the mechanical ones always added plenty of cliff hangers with oh no out of web fluid moments. Also with mechnical he can update the formula like he has in the comics many times.
For those that say with organic he can't run out. It they are created though some biological process the can run out. One would assume the webfluid would be generated by some kind of gland which his body would have to reproduce as its being used up.
The reason Spiderman has mechanical webshooters in the first place was because when he was first created he just climbed walls to get around. The webs were an after thought so he added web shooters later.
Plus its pretty gross if he has cuts/holes in his wrists and this gooey crap came out.

Stick to the darn script. The costume change was bad enough. It's either mechanical webbing, or screw this movie. If they fail to accurately depict the symbiote in the sequel, then screw that movie. I want Kraven (Rhino & Vulture would be cool too- maybe some Kraven genetics shenanigans)Mysterio, Hammerhead, Tombstone, Hobgoblin and Black Cat in this run. Fingers crossed...

Also..even though the mechanical webbing add drama because he can run out, you could easily add that aspect to his organic webbing. I think organic webbing makes spierman even more spiderlike. And Ive been reading Spiderman comics since 1985. I think I prefere the organic webbing. It reminds us that peter isnt like us, and when he and MJ have a kid the question of potenitally giving MJ cancer, and genetic heridity makes it alot more dramatic than simply running out of web shooters during a fight.

Mechanical all the way! Showcases Peter's genius, allows for him to create various types of webbing he may need in battle against different villains (e.g., shock proof webbing for Electro, non porous webbing for Hydroman, super hard tactile webbing for the Rhino, etc.), and opens the door for him to further showcase his intellect by creating his other devices such as his spider tracers!
Sticking to the source material's always the best way to go! And in the end, I truly hope Marvel/Disney retains the rights to Marvel's signature character eventually!

Organic. To me organic makes more sense when considering that the original spider bite mutated so much else of his physiology. The point about mecha shooters running out and Spidey having to fight "dry" is a good point, but with organic spinerettes the same scenario would exist because even real spiders have to eat and rest to replinish their silk reservoirs.

That returnhangar fella made great points. I never heard that the spider sort of passed down a dna racial memory of how to make webs. That's a interesting way to look at it.
