Terrible question. Just look at Tom Welling as Clark Kent. Could he act? No. Bale as Wayne. Could he act? hell to the yes.

Then you would be fine with an American actor playing James Bond?
RexBlazer1 - 11/26/2012, 8:49 PM
It doesn't matter where somebody's from, as long as they can do a good job, I could care less abot their nationality.

The best way to stop hate based on someone's nationality, and even racism for that matter is this:
STOP TALKING ABOUT IT!!!

Night of the Living Dead. George Romero wrote the lead to be a white man, but Duane Jones was the best actor in town, so he gave him the role. The movie wouldn't have been near the civil rights allegory it became if it had starred 1) a white man, and 2) a white man who wasn't as good an actor.

A good actor is a good actor, doesn't matter what color they are or country they're from.

Well there's a reason why American actors obviously did not get the roles and I'm totally fine with it. America doesn't have to be everywhere. It's already ridiculous enough that they have to remake current films just to make them more American.

And as the others said already: nationality doesn't matter.
MisterJay - 11/26/2012, 11:03 PM
it doesn't matter who we are... what matters is our plan ... xD

Isn't Wolverine Canadian? So, shouldn't he be played by Jim Carrey or Alanis Morrisette or some Canadian?
ElApe - 11/27/2012, 1:34 AM
Also, I'm fairly sure the Americans didn't invent Thor!
Milo1985 - 11/27/2012, 6:39 AM
Great point ElApe, Australia is closer to Europe than America.
GodzillaKart - 11/27/2012, 11:36 AM
Dumb question. The best actor for the role should get the part, period. If an American guy can pull off James Bond, then more power to him.
Toasty - 11/28/2012, 6:31 AM
Iconic actor's should be played by someone who understands the character and know's how to play them well and fits the role, no matter what nationality.

To think otherwise is more or less derogatory and disrespectful to the character.
DCKfilms - 11/28/2012, 9:53 PM
Ok... I'll be the first American to play James Bond (I've always wanted to be British) :D
ComicBookFanatic - 12/4/2012, 2:01 AM
I'm OK with an American as Bond if he can sound British enough. The point is if we can have good actors of the same nationality, that's great. Otherwise we can look elsewhere. However, when you speak of race, its different. So I don't the argument for race is the same as nationality.
ComicBookFanatic - 12/4/2012, 2:01 AM
*think*
MisterNiceGuy - 12/7/2012, 6:27 AM
Its called acting for a reason..
HaroldOfGalactus - 12/13/2012, 4:52 PM
Except for Daniel craig and roger moore, All of the bonds have not been british.

theyve had a scottish man, a welsh one(not the same thing you miscreants), a frenchman, etc.
PeterParker1991 - 12/16/2012, 4:09 PM
And yet people still complain about Jamie Foxx as Electro. Hmmm
gmckoy - 12/17/2012, 11:08 AM
wolverine is canadian but jackman has done well but i believe hardy would do it better, there is no canadian actors to be wolverine at the moment, so why destroy my all time fav character for the sake of nationality
PeeJ - 12/18/2012, 2:01 PM
@Harold: Erm... Welsh and Scottish people are British, as are those from NORTHERN Ireland.
Shamo - 12/21/2012, 10:04 AM

Shamo - 12/21/2012, 10:05 AM
but i'll settle for asian or latino.
LoneShadow99 - 12/21/2012, 3:02 PM
Bale isn't british, he's austrailian. (Sorry if I typed that wrong) But anyway, Bale, Garfield and Cavill are great superhero actors.
hush - 12/22/2012, 8:10 AM
Christian Bale was born in Wales. So he's British.

And no, it doesn't matter which nationality the actor is.

I mean, they are actors - they are paid to be able to portray different nationalities.

Apart from Sean Connery. No matter where he's from, you get a Scottish accent.
rocky - 1/27/2013, 4:06 PM
I think some readers here don't understand the difference between nationality and race.
GreenRageMonster - 3/22/2013, 10:52 AM
Honestly what made idk his name good a being Peter Parker; he was really bad. In comparison, he made Toby Mcguire seem like his rendition was an academy award winning performence. And as for Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne, he did an admirable job but The Dark Knight Rises was awful. Can't say anything about Man of Steel other than i would have used Rachel Mcadams as Louise Lane
