ROBOCOP Blu-ray Cover And Special Features Revealed

ROBOCOP Blu-ray Cover And Special Features Revealed

RoboCop didn't really live up to the original movie in the eyes of many fans, but if you've yet to check it out, the Blu-ray looks mighty appealing! Hit the jump to check out the cover (which is better than all the previous posters combined) and list of special features...

Directed by José Padilha, RoboCop stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Abbie Cornish, Jackie Earle Haley and Samuel L. Jackson. In RoboCop, the year is 2028 and OmniCorp – the world’s leader in robot technology – sees a golden opportunity to reap billions for their company. When Alex Murphy (Joel Kinnaman) – a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit – is critically injured, OmniCorp grabs their chance to build a part-man, part-robot police officer. OmniCorp envisions a RoboCop in every city and will stop at nothing – no matter the cost to Alex – to make sure the program succeeds. But OmniCorp never counted on one thing: there is still a man fighting inside the machine.

The RoboCop Blu-ray is charged with nearly an hour of extra features and featurettes, taking fans behind-the-scenes of OmniCorp to witness the future of law enforcement, learn the secrets of director Jose Padilha, and explore the making of the film.

I keep saying I wanted to see this in the theatre and never got around to it.

Maybe it's still playing at the dollar theatre.
ManofSteel23 - 5/2/2014, 2:33 PM
cool, be buying it
grif - 5/2/2014, 2:33 PM
the cover has been available for a long time. that said the image really confuses me. it also suggests some kind of robot Apocalypse with the robots in the middle of a war torn wasteland. nothing like that in the movie. false advertising. it reads more like a terminator cover. remove robocops face and put john connors head there.
Brainiac13 - 5/2/2014, 2:36 PM
I enjoyed this.......but the old one is a classic!
GUNSMITH - 5/2/2014, 2:36 PM

Movie was for the kids.

They could have done something special but chickened out.
MexicanSexyman - 5/2/2014, 2:38 PM
@grif, well it is Detroit, the homeland of the great and perverted Gusto.
RorMachine - 5/2/2014, 2:41 PM
It was aight
MercwithMouth - 5/2/2014, 2:42 PM
Hated the original... Still want to see this. The effects looked good in the trailers, and some of the reviews were glowing.
ALegendaryPanda - 5/2/2014, 2:42 PM
I never saw it! But I'll probably rent it or something
elib - 5/2/2014, 2:47 PM

SuperCat - 5/2/2014, 2:51 PM
I love this movie. I'm buying it.
smgmayhem - 5/2/2014, 2:52 PM
@Grif - Actually in the one of the scene the robots are in Iraq gathering the people and they start shooting them down because of the bomber.
aRandomSinisterClone - 5/2/2014, 2:54 PM
@grif, weren't robots used in war torn countries by the US for their soldiers? that just looks like a grab from the 1st 10 mins. but yea, not what the movie is really about. but fun movie. def worth a watch
BANE5000 - 5/2/2014, 2:55 PM
Bought the remastered Blu Ray of the original a while back...i think I'll stick to that one :D
xXkryptoniteXx - 5/2/2014, 2:56 PM
Day one for me
Mercwitham0uth - 5/2/2014, 3:01 PM
Watched this last night. It was ok but it lacks the violence of the original.
ComicsBornAndBred - 5/2/2014, 3:24 PM
The cover is hot though. Nice! Solid film. Not great but good. Sequel should be better. Kinnaman a Greta actor and Oldman too. Good cast to bring back
Darthzilla - 5/2/2014, 3:28 PM
New one is shit. Too much exposition and pointless story change of how Robocop operates till they just copy the original halfway through the movie
akidnamedcesar - 5/2/2014, 3:37 PM
Was this better than Dredd? I liked Dredd but I can't see myself liking this one.
M3T4LL0 - 5/2/2014, 3:46 PM
Great flick. Glad I caught in theaters.
marvel72 - 5/2/2014, 3:48 PM
i had actually forgotten about this movie,it won't be as violent as the original so i don't think i'll even bother with it.
SpiderFraud - 5/2/2014, 3:53 PM
Movie was alright, felt like a big waste of time watching, though. One of the better remakes...but thats not saying much.
santoanderson - 5/2/2014, 4:06 PM
Did the movie make enough money to warrant a sequel?
FastFlames - 5/2/2014, 4:24 PM
Everyone saying that they don't think that they will check it out really should. It was nothing exceptional, but as far as a good way to kill 2 hours, this is a good entertaining movie. But maybe I'm just alone in that opinion.
sinister84 - 5/2/2014, 5:02 PM
Ok remake, pretty forgettable movie though
MyNameIsKhan - 5/2/2014, 5:15 PM
This movie sucks ass
beane2099 - 5/2/2014, 5:20 PM
My gripes with this flick:

1) The villain was lifeless and thus the confrontation with that villain was meaningless
2)We weren't really shown that future Detroit was a crime infested city - in fact it looked better than present Detroit. Thus the need for Robocop was unclear. In the original the guys who killed Murphy exemplified how bad things were and why Robocop was needed.
3)No enough time spent on Robocop actually stopping crime. And when he did it was some generic guy running an "operation" in a warehouse. In the original, Robocop stopped more visceral crimes (in progress) - an attempted robbery of a mom and pop joint and an attempted rape. There was an emotional connection to those crimes and thus a sense of satisfaction when Robo stopped them.
4) The motivation of Michael Keaton and his crew was weak at best. The board of OCP in the original clear cut and more believable
5) The relationship between Murphy and Lewis was nonexistant.
6) The crooked Police Captain was unnecessary

My likes:
1) Dr. Gary Oldman. The expansion of the role of the scientist that created Robo was a good addition
2) Showing how little of Murphy actually remained was a great touch. It really painted a hopeless picture
3) The role of robots in war was also done very well
4) While the role of the wife was generic it was still good to see the family more involved in the story
5) The way Robocop tracked criminals was awesome (we just needed more of that)
3) The progression of Robocop's transformation from a thinking person to a machine was well done

Haha this movie was alright but in a way I can say its enjoyable. Acting was good but the fight scenes kinda felt I didn't almost feel for the character......oh yeah if u head to you can watch this movie in DVD quality...probably gonna watch it later today
CaptainProg - 5/2/2014, 6:05 PM
I'll be getting this.
Ceejay - 5/2/2014, 7:59 PM
Way better movie than the original despite not being a campy, over the top violent satire. This flick takes the concept more seriously, the original is better for laughs and cheese. If gung ho violence like Dredd is your thing, then this movie has nothing for you. If you value story content over buckets of blood then give it a shot.

Does it warrant a sequel, hell yes that's the whole reason it was made but these are the numbers that count..

Robocop (2014) - Box office = $241,617,005 (Budget $100 million)
Dredd (2012) - Box office = $35,626,525 (Budget $50 million)

This is why one has a high chance of a sequel while the other is still throwing itself on the mercy of the court begging for a stay of execution. Clearly Robocop had a higher budget but it made practically 140% profit while Dredd made near enough a %30 loss. Sure fanboys will moan but the fact is there's little money in overly violent movies. Out of the top 100 movies worldwide at the box office only two (TWO) are not PG-13 and they rank number 83 and 92 respectively on the charts, miles outside the top 10 let alone top 50.

Incase you really need to know, those movies are The Passion of Christ and The Hangover part 2. One gets the vote of the christians and the other an outrageous comedy, not a shoot-em up blood bath between them. So you can understand why studio's are reluctant to throw money after sequels for movies like Dredd unless its can do so with a ridiculously small budget.

Y'know what really blows? When the DVD cover is cooler than the actual poster.
yonny616 - 5/2/2014, 9:16 PM
Will buy. Movie was awesome.
UlisesMX - 5/2/2014, 9:18 PM
Nice cover...
Vaportrail - 5/2/2014, 11:58 PM
Pretty cool movie.
I'd like it more if I never saw the original, but what can ya do.
TelaVizion - 5/3/2014, 2:14 AM
Old one was garbage compared to this. I hope he gets a new suit in the sequel. I hate that they put him in the "old suit" at the end of the movie. That was the only problem I had with this great movie. That and I didn't like the amount of abuse he was getting. I just wanted him to kill everyone except for Abbie Cornish
MightyZeus - 5/3/2014, 2:19 AM
The original will always be the best.
lexcorp - 5/3/2014, 3:53 AM
I like Robo, no it wasn't better then the orginal but still really good
