Arnold Schwarzenegger Confirms His Involvement With TERMINATOR 5

After Justin Lin dropped out of the next Terminator movie, a lot of people were questioning whether or not Arnold Schwarzenegger would still be on board for another go at the franchise. Now, the Austrian Oak has confirmed his involvement with the next film.

No official quotes have been pulled yet, but the folks over at Bleeding Cool are reporting that Arnold Schwarzenegger WILL indeed be a part of the upcoming Terminator movie. They confirmed the information while attending the press junket for The Last Stand. Schwarzenegger has been apprehensive about doing another film for the franchise, but warmed up to the idea when ever Justin Lin was developing it. However, when Lin left the project more doubt on Schwarzenegger's involvement was cast, leaving people to believe he may not return to the film. Schwarzenegger confirmed the movie on his upcoming list of projects including another Conan movie, as well as a Twins sequel.

The news comes hot off the heels of the film finding a new writers for the movie in the form of Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier. With the script not done, it is hard to tell how big of a role Arnold will actually play in the film. For the latest on the film, make sure to check back here at CBM.

Don't know if I should be excited or worried oh and FIRST!!!!!!!!!!
SuperDude001 - 1/22/2013, 8:55 AM
To be honest this is the only sequel of Arnold's I think could work with him. If they carry it on from Salvation just make him a human that the Terminator (I can't remember the actual name) was based on.
SuperDude001 - 1/22/2013, 8:56 AM
Although I think he'd need to be supporting cast, cause with his return to acting he has to build up his fame again in a way (like everyone knows Arnie, but not everyone still wants to see Arnie)
myparentsaredead - 1/22/2013, 9:07 AM
This should've been his comeback movie. The Last Stand, while fun, felt like a middle of the road movie.
ForeverPowerful - 1/22/2013, 9:07 AM
I think this could work for his return. People still love Terminator, Salvation made some money at least, and that didnt have him in it (besides from the CGI cameo). Hopefully when this is made, people will recognize that he is back and can still kick some ass.

I can't help but hear this as good news..
DrDoom - 1/22/2013, 9:11 AM
I'm good with this. I liked Salvation, so I'm excited to see where the franchise goes next.
Fogs - 1/22/2013, 9:17 AM
@SuperDude001 - I don't know why but when I watched Terminator Salvation in the theater right on the beginning I immediatelly thought Marcus' role was supposed to be Arnold's (probably a CG one like they used in the end), but for some reason it didn't work.

Watch it again and try to see worthington's character as if he was Arnie. The movie immediatelly gets 100x better.

About the news, I believe the only way he could be in would be on dubbing a T-800 / T-850, these being CG.

I'd like to take it a step further with the Tron suggestion. Have his current self portrayed as working with the resistance, as a human. The reason the machines modeled it after him is because he was an extremely capable fighter. Even have some bits in there about him not being sure if he can be any help in a fight because he's aged. Then have someone dear to him get blown away, making him want to get in the fight. THEN also have CGI versions of Arnold so you have the arnold vs arnold vision that cameron almost did in T2!
ShamusG - 1/22/2013, 9:37 AM
The fight against the cgi arnold was the best part of salvation, and I thought looked VERY good.

I remeber reading another confirmation from Anrie 'bout Terminator sequels stating that they would shoot them back to back and that whose would be the toughest films he ever did.[See here] Was surprised when I recognized things seemed to have changed about that.
AnungUnRama - 1/22/2013, 10:07 AM
To those who say Arnie should play the human after whom the Terminator's human design was modeled.

They've already gone that way in T3

So hes going to bring his 1.9 million to this movie too

i had a great idea for a new terminator movie. set after the events of salvation. arnold is a real guy/ survivor who the machines abduct and clone to make their terminators. it would explain what they were doing to those people in the factory in salvation and why the arny terminator was there to attack john connor
he could have possibly been a rescued victim amongst the people fleeing the factory
Fogs - 1/22/2013, 10:42 AM
@AnungUnRama - that's a DVD extra? Never seen it before, It's cool!
AlexDeLarge87 - 1/22/2013, 10:45 AM
I dont really wanna see another Terminator. To me that franchise ended after the second film. Salvation was decent but could have been alot better.
Should have made the future seriously darker place to live like in the first and second. Place where sun doesnt shine anymore.

Conan however that movie i look forward. I just hope they cast someone as younger Conan. Daniel Cudmore would be awesome.
Rainpaulo - 1/22/2013, 10:57 AM
I enjoyed salvation...good show...should keep Bale involved.
Morbius - 1/22/2013, 11:05 AM
I hope it gets made a Terminator movie can only be done with Arnold. Bale back would be cool too.
Rothwilder - 1/22/2013, 11:08 AM
Stallone is buff at the age GUNSMITH
GodzillaKart - 1/22/2013, 12:07 PM
@GUNSMITH: I'm with you. I wish Arnold would just go the Stallone route and juice up to young man size. Although, I'm not sure after his heart surgery if his body can take steroids or HGH fueled workouts.
cj5590 - 1/22/2013, 12:51 PM
Thank god. It'll at least top the last sad transformers aspiration. Even the overall narrative of terminator 3 was good on paper, just butchered by the stain of inappropriate comedy, greatly dark ending though. Still was a run from an actiony run from a monster movie just as they've always been up until the McGEEE abortion.
AmazingFantasy - 1/22/2013, 1:38 PM
@fettastic- Oath
KNIGHT3000 - 1/22/2013, 1:52 PM
TERMINATOR 4 was the WICKEDEST, obviously not better than 2, but WICKED
reverendjonnynemo - 1/22/2013, 2:59 PM
Everyone knows exactly what this will be: Arnie will play his own prototype template.... so cliche.
Jaspion - 1/22/2013, 4:37 PM
Yes, he is irreplaceable.
theartofoneness - 1/22/2013, 6:10 PM
ide love to see a movie filled with CG arnolds. It would be great. Arnold could do the voices and help them get the acting right.
Ghostt - 1/22/2013, 6:57 PM
didnt read the article. don't care about the script. this one is a fail. sorry to get all Grif, but it's true.
mgeoff88 - 1/22/2013, 7:38 PM
I don't think I would bother watching T5, if Arnold wasn't involved.

Also, a sequel to Twins??? Lol, I liked the first movie, but how would you do a sequel to that? The first movie wrapped up everything.

Why not a sequel to Commando or True Lies?
flannelmandude - 1/22/2013, 9:53 PM
When is this supposed to be released? I love The Terminator movies. Just bought Terminator Salvation The Machinima Series. That's good stuff too!
AnungUnRama - 1/23/2013, 3:04 AM
@Fogs: Yep, it's an deleted scene provided as an extra feature on the T3 DVD.
