BOX OFFICE: EDGE OF TOMORROW Earns $1.8 Million At Thursday Night Showings
Edge of Tomorrow has all the makings of a hit, but with The Fault In Our Stars poised to grab moviegoers attention this weekend, the $178 million budgeted movie looks set to debut in the $25 million range after earning $1.8 million at late Thursday night showings. However, that bests Tom Cruise's last sci-fi movie Oblivion, and some analysts believe that Edge of Tomorrow could earn as much as $35 million. It's simply too early to say at this point! However, since debuting overseas (where the Mission Impossible actor is a much bigger box office draw) in a handful of locations, the Doug Liman helmed movie has earned $33 million. Now, it looks set to also open in key territories including China, Russia, Australia, France and Mexico. Stay tuned for further updates!
Doug Liman's Edge of Tomorrow (starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt) finally reached North America yesterday evening, and despite almost unanimously positive reviews - it has a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes - the sci-fi movie may only earn around $25 million this weekend. Check it out!
