Caesar to Rule in Planet of the Apes Reboot

Caesar to Rule in <em>Planet of the Apes</em> Reboot

20th Century Fox is eager to move forward with the reboot of Planet of the Apes.

Thought to be dead the movie is getting new life with the help of Jamie Moss doing some rewrites. With a new producer,Peter Chernin, Fox has shown interest in pushing foward with the remake.

Here is the rundown on the movie plot from

“Frank’s Apes script, code-named Caesar, showed how genetic experiments on apes led to their evolutionary eclipse of humans. “Caesar” refers to the genetically altered leader of the simian rebellion, so dubbed because the ape was capable of grand strategic thinking on par with Julius Caesar (whose own surname means “hairy” in Latin). The “Caesar” code name also foreshadowed the script’s plot: Just as the actual Julius Caesar set Rome on the path to the Roman Empire, the experimental ape’s escape sets in motion his fellow hirsute hominids’ (wait for it … ) guerrilla war and subsequent dominance.”

SO are you ready for some new Ape action or did Tim Burtons 2001 version leave you wishing for the apes to just become extinct?

Hopefully it'll be set in High School with Peter Parker.

Im going to go out on a limb here and say that I think you found the secret twist ending of this movie.
thwhtGuardian - 1/23/2010, 12:47 AM
I think I am one of the few people who actually enjoyed Burton's planet of the apes.
Spilox - 1/23/2010, 5:14 AM
I enjoyd burtons version. But why not jump on the bandwagon and reboot!!
invalensname - 1/23/2010, 5:31 AM
@Betty- lol dude!
Burton's was a re-imagining. This is a re-ally bad idea.
1chris2 - 1/23/2010, 5:40 AM
i didnt like the ending of burtons film wtf.and it could have been alot better.
HammerGod - 1/23/2010, 6:22 AM
I thought the action in Burtons was good but I have to agree with 1chris2 that the ending was subpar at best
StrangerX - 1/23/2010, 6:41 AM

The first reboot sucked monkey balls and this one is going to suck gorilla balls...
airbeyonder18 - 1/23/2010, 11:33 AM
No reboots! Leave it alone. The first film was a jewel.
theartofoneness - 1/23/2010, 11:52 AM
sounds look a good way to reboot it. this is not a curtain pull then movie magic ooo apes rule the world now. this is actually a piece of the story we were missing. how the apes became the rulers.
gaikinger - 1/23/2010, 12:10 PM
i dont think this movie can be made again. its really a long twilight zone with that classic gotcha ending Serling was so good at. it was also timely to the whole civil rights issues that made it really relevant. to me the concept in itself is now dated and antquaited.
Spock - 1/23/2010, 12:14 PM
I enjoyed the old & the new version.

@Anil Rickly agree,They should continue from Burtons verison.
GuyFawkes - 1/23/2010, 12:45 PM
It's only been 9 yrs since the last one! At least wait 33 yrs like we did for Burton's one! Disgusting.

Ultimate planet of the Apes?

The book, Monkey Planet by Pierre Boulle is a pretty amazing novel, one which the original Charlton Heston movie adapted pretty fairly. And as social commentary it is hardly irrelevant, as a culture we still look down upon societies we don't understand, and further more the down fall of humanity by relying on outside sources to perform labor is still something to consider as we rely more and more on technology.

Sounds like a remake of Conquest of the POtA. I think burton's film was proof enough that the original can't be improved on.

Tim Burton's version of the plant of the apes was great Tim is a genius at what he does everyone of his films are badass now for a reboot im just fine with it why was there not to like with burton's version ?

Never saw the remake. Did I just say "I didn't see the remake"? That would mean there already was a remake and now they are going to remake it again? WTF? Hollywood just pisses me off to no end sometimes. Don't mess around with classics! The original was the first movie I went to as a youngster without my parents being along (that pretty much interprets to my first non-Disney movie ever viewed) lol

What's next? Writers can't come up with original material anymore? Let's remake Ben Hur and Gone With the Wind and White Christmas and the Outlaw Josey Wales...and... okay... I'll end the rant now.

This is what happened in the fourth Planet of the Apes. Interesting choice to start with for a reboot.
UberGeek - 1/23/2010, 3:09 PM
I'd prefer to see what direction a sequel to Burtons take would go.

Do something new with it - it was a bold and interesting story with a slightly weak ending, but overall it's a good film.
RorMachine - 1/23/2010, 4:11 PM
I would prefer to have needles rammed into my eyeballs than watch Burton's garbage again...leave it the [frick] alone.
Japhath - 1/23/2010, 5:07 PM
So, is this a reboot or are they continuing Burton's storyline? I would rather see a reboot. I love this story and I think it has an infinite amount of potential. I love Ceasar and those stories were true sci-fi commentary on humanity.
soperman - 1/23/2010, 5:14 PM
I would rather see a prequel on burtons adaption telling about how the apes took control then watch a shitty remake
Cook - 1/23/2010, 7:18 PM
It may have been said already but this is a remake of Conquest of the Planet of the Apes. Caesar was the son of Cornelius and Zira's Who had him after they traveled to the past in Escape from the Planet of the Apes. It's a new idea with the genetic manipulation. In the original humans had tried to domesticate apes after cats and dogs died off from a mysterious disease.

I liked Tim Burton remake. Shrugs. If you remake this it has to be a completely different story.

I would watch it.
10THTIGER - 1/24/2010, 6:36 PM
like the concept
HannibalSmith - 1/25/2010, 7:20 AM
Sequel not reboot!
stormcr0w - 1/25/2010, 2:16 PM
I think they should take the original movie and redo it WORD FOR WORD!!!! only with good effects. Although I do like the genetic altering starting the whole thing, but NO WORMHOLES NO APES AT THE LINCOLN MONUMENT!
gaikinger - 1/26/2010, 12:11 AM
thwtguardian -i can see that you are wise beyond measure. i bow to your mastery of language and diction. i hang my head low in my deepest regret that i may have offended thee in my analysis of the planet of the apes. forgive me now....go in peace oh shamman of the cbm post.
