Seriously, suggest me an idea for a Pacific Rim sequel that isn't the least bit cop-out, or will not negate its predecessor in any way first, then we'll talk about the details.

Jolt, the perfect idea for a sequel would be the other side opening up multiple portals at once in an act of full out revenge and invasion and sending the Jaegers into the other world and explloring the other world. I loved the movie but the end was very "Independence Day"-ish where one bomb solves the whole invasion problem. That seems a little too neatly wrapped to me. If they opened one portal, why can't they open more? The sequel needs the chance to give some personality to the invaders and creators of the Kaiju.

Comedian: The problem is, every Jaeger has been eliminated; if more portals are opened with the Kaijus planning a full-fledged revenge and invasion, I'm not sure they'll go, "Oh, go on and build more Jaegers first, we'll sit tight here," and not just [frick] up our world on the get-go. The conflict's over, the doomsday clock's been stopped...I don't think the humans have any reason to be prepared to put up another fight. And anyway, aren't the Kaijus connected to one hive mind, which means that they're all gone after Gypsy detonated the "core"?

I would like it if the next one was darker and maybe even focused on different protagonists.

They detonated the "passage", not the whole ALIEN civilization.... :P

I think Humanity could build more jaegers and this time WE'll open up a portal and invade the aliens...

I saw this last week on IMAX 3-D. I enjoyed it, but it was way too loud. Whenever those 2 nerdy scientists talked they seem to be shouting at each other all the time. I can't wait to watch it at home on DVD where I can turn the volume down a pitch or 2

I could see the drift he made with the Kaiju affecting him more over time, Lovecraft style, resulting in him and the other scientist opening a rift back to the alien dimension.

SINGLE MANNED JAEGERS, ARMIES FROM DIFFERENT COUNTRIES, TALL AS A TWO STORY BUILDING...AND SAME SIZED LEGION OF MONSTER ALIENS.....LIKE MAYBE GUNDAM WING OR ROBOTECH...SEE NOW THAT WOULD BE AWESOME TO WATCH

Took my family to see this in IMAX 3D, and we all agreed that it was a typical formulated plot with wacky/and or underdog turned hero characters. :P

But we also all agreed that the Jaeger/Kaiju Fights KICKED F*CKING @$$! :D

The second battle alone was worth it! :)

One of my favorite movies this summer, but I do not think a sequel is necessary. I'm happy with it being a one-off movie.

This should be a stand alone film. Gives it so much more substance.

As a huge del Toro fan, I don't think we should have a sequel. Love the film to death but a sequel may ruin it and may not be as good. Has a Jurassic Park sequel been as a good as the first? Has a Transformers sequel been as good as the first? Pacific Rim would be best as a standalone.

Do Dark Universe or Hellboy 3 next del Toro.

Again...........
Have most if not all of the battles in the daytime, with NO rain!
More battles, lessen up on the human interest stories.
The battles should be done where the scale of these robots and monsters are not lost.
The old Godzilla flicks had all of this nailed.

Del toro should definitely make Hellboy 3 and JL Dark. I think it would be awesome if DC started spitting out movies from all over their multiverse, but I know that wont happen. I wouldn't mind seeing a Deadman or Animal Man stand alone movie, and I definitely want to see a Sandman movie get made.

Prequel anyone? Tales from Year Zero has gotten me interested in seeing the development of the Jaegers. I also wouldn't mind seeing Stacker Pentecost's piloting years.
