First Footage From THE HOST 2 Features a Giant Monster

If you were a fan of the South Korean monster film from 2006, you might want to check this out. The first footage from the upcoming sequel has surfaced online, followed by a visual effects breakdown....

The Host, directed by Bong Joon-ho (who is now directing Snow Piercer, starring Chris Evans) was a huge success back in 2006. The film was very unique and quite great, because of an interesting story and characters. The sequel was announced in 2007, but it seems that we can finally expect to see it sometime in 2013. Park Myeong-chan is directing The Host 2. The video below features our first look at the footage, and it's a big action scene. Check it out below:

As far as the effects goes, Twitch Film, has more info on that:

"The CG effects were produced domestically by Macrograph, the VFX company behind R2B: Return to Base (aka Soar Into the Sun), A Chinese Ghost Story and Stephen Chow's upcoming Journey to the West."

So, what do you think? Are you looking forward to this sequel?

loved the first flick! really excited to see this one...but the premise is sooo fugin stupid! There's no way something like that lives in the waters of Korea and they haven't been eating it with Kimchee in a jampong for generations...Asia eats some whacky shit.

If only The Amazing Spider-Man would have had the Lizard like this and the world would have been a better place to be.

the creature looks terrible in those stills..hope they're still working on making it look more 'real'.

Man the host was awesome, a CGI monster IN THE DAYLIGHT?? And it doesn't look horrible?? Very cool, hope the sequel looks even better with 6 years of CG advancements.
Boogie138 - 11/21/2012, 4:41 AM

The Host was surprisingly good.

Talking about sci-fi. Life on Mars?

Fantastic! The Host was one of the best sci-fi/monster films in years. I hope this lives up to it.

After the horrible disappointment of Prometheus, this may start to heal the wound for sci-fi fans.

@Seejay: Thanks for the link! I hope that's what the news is!

Part of the reason The Host was so good is because it was shot so much in daylight instead of darkness. I think that a lot of movies with creatures and whatnot tend to have their CGI at night in order to make it look better. If you can make something realistically frightening under daylight, then you've really accomplished something.

@Godzillafart - 11/21/2012, 7:41 AM

No problem! And that would certainly be awesome.
BubblesShedAndBreakfast - 11/21/2012, 11:37 AM
I was into it til the little boy started running. He looked like he wanted to smile and was having fun. The little girl looked scared.
DioFoRio - 11/21/2012, 12:08 PM
another reason Host was good was that it had heart.
DioFoRio - 11/21/2012, 12:08 PM
@Hope isn't that what boys do?
toobusylookingood - 11/21/2012, 2:26 PM
Well you'd be smiling too if you were running from a hungry monster lizard and there was someone slower than you.
