First Pics & Video From The Set Of Christopher Nolan's INTERSTELLAR

A photographer from the Alberta set of Christopher Nolan's mysterious sci-fi flick has sent us over some nice snaps and a brief vid, featuring glimpses of the director himself, along with cast members Matthew McConaughey and Game Of Thrones' Elyes Gabel.

Directed and co-written by Christopher Nolan (“Inception,” “The Dark Knight” Trilogy), the production will travel the globe and utilize a mixture of 35mm anamorphic and IMAX film photography to bring to the screen a script based on the combination of an original idea by Nolan and an existing script by Jonathan Nolan, originally developed for Paramount Pictures and producer Lynda Obst. The new script chronicles the adventures of a group of explorers who make use of a newly discovered wormhole to surpass the limitations on human space travel and conquer the vast distances involved in an interstellar voyage.

Thanks to ShutterFinger for the pics.

This is going to be an awesome film!

I feel as if Nolan got The Dark Knight Trilogy out of the way so that he could move on to films he has a more enthusiastic interest in.. Not saying that he wasn't when making the Batman movies but I read his wife gave him a bunch of crap.

Glad to see he's still making blockbusters! Can't wait to check this one out!
SuperDude001 - 8/22/2013, 1:58 PM
I don't know whether McConaughey is going full on with his whole changing look to fit the role thing like other actors or I just haven't watched any of his recent stuff and have missed his changing look...
BatmanHeisenberg - 8/22/2013, 2:01 PM
So excited for this!
TheRationalNerd - 8/22/2013, 2:03 PM

Ha! Yea he does look a bit different. I guess I'm always used to seeing him with all that hair!
TheRationalOne - 8/22/2013, 2:08 PM
These are the kind of movies Nolan should stick too. I mean, I like two thirds of the Batman trilogy, but you can tell that it isn't Nolan's comfort zone. Sci fi is. I'm excited for this.

And if anyone doubts Matthew McCaunawhatever's acting ability, watch Mud. The dude is a beast of an actor when given something with more depth than a rom-com.
AwesomeSauce - 8/22/2013, 2:08 PM
Nolan turned his back on CBM genre, why are you all posting his shit here?
RyanTcone - 8/22/2013, 2:09 PM
This is filming in Okotoks?! I'm 20 minutes from there ermergerd.
AwesomeSauce - 8/22/2013, 2:12 PM
Nolan is a pretencious asshole who thought his name was heaven that could sell anything.

WB: Can you construct a cinematic universe for us, we're starting with Superman.

Nolan: Just put my name on it and be lucky I let you all taste it.
AwesomeSauce - 8/22/2013, 2:14 PM
WB: Zack Snyder said it was going to be the return of the KING.

Nolan: SHUT THE [frick] UP, I'm doing my space movie.
3DWitchHunt - 8/22/2013, 2:18 PM
"Nolan is a pretencious asshole"
Says the guy with the James Cameron avatar
Oh btw, its pretentious

And like him or not, Nolan changed the way people view CBMs and created the highest rated CBM trilogy
UrbanKnight - 8/22/2013, 2:33 PM
Bring it!
AC1 - 8/22/2013, 2:33 PM
Not quite sure what to make of this. Difficult to judge anything based on four set photos, but this intrigues me. I have no idea what to expect. When I think 'Christopher Nolan', I think 'psychological thriller', not 'sci-fi' - even films of his like The Prestige and Inception aren't really proper sci-fi films, they're thrillers first and foremost with a slight sci-fi twist. It will be very interesting to see him step further out of his comfort zone.
UrbanKnight - 8/22/2013, 2:34 PM
Great cast. Great director. Intriguing concept. Haters gonna hate.
thewonderer - 8/22/2013, 2:39 PM
Where are the sources to these comments about how Nolan feels about making the dark knight trilogy?

Sounds like complete bullshit to me. The man gives the same impression in every interview he does.

And Nolan shouldn't stick to anything. Let the dude do what he wants to. If it means making another comic book film, stay the [frick] out of his way.
JoeMomma29 - 8/22/2013, 2:39 PM
All the Nolanites just jazzed their pants!

Dev - 8/22/2013, 2:40 PM
Well look at that even the set videos are incredible for a Nolan movie.
Mixedsuperman - 8/22/2013, 2:41 PM
Is it me? Or does Nolan wear the same thing everyday on every movie set??
MarkV - 8/22/2013, 2:42 PM
Very trippy vibe in those shots.
JoeMomma29 - 8/22/2013, 2:48 PM
I meant *jizzed not jazzed!
AwesomeSauce - 8/22/2013, 2:48 PM

@BATmaniac Damn did someone offend your family member? Get off Nolans nuts, maybe that's why I never could enjoy his greatness when you never let no one else latch on.
JoeMomma29 - 8/22/2013, 2:49 PM
Hey even if you hate Nolan you have to admit his movies are very good and unique.
AwesomeSauce - 8/22/2013, 2:53 PM
Mother[frick]ers here act like they've known Nolan all this time. Y'all didn't know this man before Batman begin quit lying to yourselves.
3DWitchHunt - 8/22/2013, 2:54 PM
Great Ad Hominem man

Loved your rebuttal /s
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 8/22/2013, 2:54 PM
LOL @ the tongue guy
TheYoungMan - 8/22/2013, 2:56 PM

Nolan Rises
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 8/22/2013, 2:57 PM
Nolan, the guy who always has his characters wear suits.
AwesomeSauce - 8/22/2013, 2:57 PM
Nolan couldn't win an Oscar with HIS best movie so he left the genre. WB thought as you all did that his name was holy by attaching it to MoS.

Snyder: It's the return of the KING. HAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!
3DWitchHunt - 8/22/2013, 2:58 PM
What an assumption
I can just as easily say people knew him this whole time seeing as how he directed Memento and Insomnia

Not to mention, what does this have to do with people liking Nolan? Seems like it bothers you that people enjoy his films so much, and if thats the case, why come bitch in an article about a new film by-- wait for it, Nolan

Get off your high horse
THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - 8/22/2013, 2:59 PM
So does this movie have events that take place in space itself?
AwesomeSauce - 8/22/2013, 3:01 PM
Trevor earned more money than the "MAN in BAT suit quits twice".
TheYoungMan - 8/22/2013, 3:05 PM
@AwesomeSauce He made 3 Batman movies, and even produced a Superman movie as a parting gift. What more do you want? Should he just keep making CBMovies forever? That would be lame as hell.
Inhuman - 8/22/2013, 3:06 PM
This movie is gonna be sick
DaVinci31 - 8/22/2013, 3:07 PM

AwesomeSauce - 8/22/2013, 3:09 PM
That's not what I meant 3D. He had great movies before BB but a lot of you act like you knew about his resume or are experts in everything Nolan. Everyone was shitting bricks when Ledger was cast as the Joker and now there will be no joker like him before, said through a nolanite voice. Intestellar isn't a CBM unless it's his "real world shit" for Green Lantern.
symbiotics - 8/22/2013, 3:13 PM
@SuperDude001 watch MUD. He kills it in that movie.
3DWitchHunt - 8/22/2013, 3:17 PM
How can you possibly know someone is acting like that?
Directors have fans, and those fans are passionate. How does this come as a surprise to you? And why does it bother you so much?

I dont think anyone here gives a shit that you probably jizz over Cameron. Know why? Because hes just another director, with fans

What does Ledger have to do with this? He knocked it out of the park and defied expectations. Are you gonna fault Nolan for that too?

In case you havent noticed, there are other things reported on this site besides CBMS
Shit, theres an Expendables article now in NEWS
So again, if all this bothers, angers you, the question arises, why come visit these articles??

Cameron is overrated btw :)
HBarnill - 8/22/2013, 3:24 PM

Where did you get that shot of Hathaway? I know when it was taken but I can't find that pic.
typicalfanboy - 8/22/2013, 3:28 PM
poor man's bale. but thats a compliment. he's an ok actor.
MarkV - 8/22/2013, 3:31 PM
It's gonna be an enigma wrapped in an illusion and stuff!
SauronsBANE - 8/22/2013, 3:35 PM

Seriouly you need to quit your Nolan-hating. You say he turned his back on cbms...? Yet he directed one of the best cbm trilogys ever. He helped produce Man of Steel (which btw, it was the studio's idea to attach his name to every piece of promotion to get more money, not his). If he doesn't want to make cbms anymore, who are you to say what he should or should not do?

His passion is obviously for his own projects rather than cbms. Good for him. You can sit in a corner and cry about how his Batman isn't like your precious comic book Batman, while the rest of the world moves on with their lives.
