First Reactions: Critics Go Bananas For DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES

Last night, 20th Century Fox's Dawn of the Planets of the Apes was screened to a bunch of critics, and good portion of them have tweeted their reactions. Come see!

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is being directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In), from a screenplay written by Mark Bomback, Scott Z. Burns, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The cast includes: Andy Serkis (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Public Enemies, The Great Gatsby), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises, The Harry Potter film series), Keri Russell (The Americans, Mission Impossible III), Toby Kebbell (The Prince of Persia, Wrath of the Titans, Rock N Rolla), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In, ParaNorman), Enrique Murciano (Traffic, Black Hawk Down), Kirk Acevedo (The Thin Red Line) and Judy Greer (The Descendants, Three Kings, 13 Going on 30). The film climbs into theaters July 11, 2014

A commercial for Dawn played on Nick Jr.
RetroFit - 6/27/2014, 3:34 PM
I can't wait to see Matt Reeves handed a major comic book property. He's one of my favourite 'new' directors (if you can call a 48 year old veteran 'new').
WeddingTux - 6/27/2014, 3:35 PM
@MrSotoMan LOL I saw that advert too

and I like how they marketed it as 'Dora v. Boots: Dawn of Exploras'
TheAbomination - 6/27/2014, 3:35 PM
This movie's gonna hold me over until GotG comes out.
KurtWagner1225 - 6/27/2014, 3:39 PM

cwb77 - 6/27/2014, 3:43 PM
Looking SO forward to this one. Somebody please tell me, is there a way they can end this series by re-doing "Beneath the Planet of the Apes"? I love the concept of we created and then destroyed everything. My best to all. Go Blue.
DeusExSponge - 6/27/2014, 3:58 PM
The first one was phenomenal! So I can't say I'm surprised at this reaction. Seriously looking forward to this sequel!
Chekkarma - 6/27/2014, 4:01 PM
