"(along with its inferior sequel)"

thank you. tho, not a bad movie in itself. should have stopped at the first one, but the studio people/producers wanted a franchise
Jollem - 7/11/2014, 3:12 AM
i had/have every toy in that pic except for the red and white guy and the purple thing
MrSotoMan - 7/11/2014, 3:17 AM
I wish this could be a franchise. Has a lot of potential.
RorMachine - 7/11/2014, 3:19 AM
I had all those toys too. But they made the Marshmallow man too damn small. I used to have to pretend that he was always off in the distance or something.

I watched this film only yesterday. Its SO good and still holds up. Even some of the dodgy composite shots have a charm about them.
Saw it back in the day on original release and will be upgrading to blu come September by the look of it.
Jollem - 7/11/2014, 3:24 AM
it is a franchise. movies, toys, cartoons, video games. all kinds of merchandise

This is the only way I can think of to explain Egon in Ghostbusters 3.

Now back to the toys...

You guys remember this?

^^ I remember that slime being awesome because it felt real. You had to put it back up though or it would dry up fast. I remember they came in little plastic cans that were like Play-Doh cans. Which reminds me...I had this too.

Great trailer, had me grinning from ear to ear.

"Yes it's true. This man has no dick." Probably the best of a long line of bests...

People forget that Ghostbusters was NOT a kid's movie. And as a result it had an edge.
But once the cartoon and toys hit it was corrupted and turned into simple minded pap for little kids.

JediPhilosopher - 7/11/2014, 4:16 PM
Classic movie. But..
this franchise doesn't need to rest in peace.
There is more fun to be had with this idea. They just need to get it right. Bill Murray was certainly the core charcater that made the comedy so right with the original, but you can have something just as brilliant and nearly as perfect with different actors. It just needs careful planning with a strong resolve to make something with as good chemistry and writing, strongly focused on lead-ups to one liners, but also with a plot that's going somewhere good. I'm sure we could find actors who can do good geek-comedy. The Big-Bang Theory proves that. Maybe more difficult will be getting someone to represent the non-geeks, the skeptical cool guy that Peter Venkman was.
