GODZILLA Trailer Screenshots May Contain OTHER Monsters! PART II

GODZILLA Trailer Screenshots May Contain OTHER Monsters! PART II

With the King of All Monsters getting its 2nd official trailer, let the nit-picking begin with these screenshots from the preview. Yet again! Warning! Expect spoilers and questions that make you think you've witnessed a spoiler.

Monster Madness has fast gripped Kaiju fans all over the globe, and here on CBM it seems we’re no different. We’re just as prone to go nuts over any tidbit we can glean from a movie trailer, usually to satisfy our curiosity, but mostly it's for a quick fix. I posted screengrabs of the most recent trailer with some theories about what we’re all observing. Here are some new screengrabs fresh off the trailer to help us gain more perspective one frame at a time.

Godzilla_8
What’s missing from this image?>

If you read the caption on the image, the answer I believe that is pertinent…Tracks. We already know how enormous in size this (possibly these) creature(s) are. The space depicted in the scene is arguably just a commercial airline crash site, but most likely is subject to the same “Jetwash” issue we saw knocking the combat squadron out of the sky. One CBM member posted in the comments of my previous article.

Gimmemorathat19 - 2/25/2014, 3:29 PM

it could be a version of Rodan, the jets start spiraling out of the sky. im no jet engineer but dont jets normally spiral like that when the winds get to intense? could they be falling because rodan is flapping his wings using creating a massive gust of wind. Praise Lord Helix and the Almighty Trinity

Early rumors of the film from fans, websites, and Comic-Cons stated potentially two insectoid creatures that would be antagonists in the story. If this is true, then potentially some of the screengrabs we’ve seen are slowly teasing their appearances, such as this next frame.

Godzilla_13

Could this be a sighting of Gigan, Kamacuras, or maybe Megalon?

Godzilla has a variety of scaless and protrusions on his back and head. The trailer shows very clearly, in the above frame, a straight line of such appendages. These appendages very much are looking like horns, are rampaging through the train track. Which means in this particular image it is not Godzilla. Or so I speculate.

Godzilla_11

Godzilla’s scaless and appendages look like this, not one neatly lined up row

Another CBM user made a comment about Gigan:

Nicademus - 2/25/2014, 1:55 PM

The claw looks to me like one of Gigan's arms, could be him aswell...

This comment was followed by many others speculating and pointing out more information about the rumored Insectoids, the Kamacuras. Folks over at Godzilla Movies have some interesting insight in this regard.

If we go back to some of the early interviews with the director, he never denied that the OLD Toho monsters would be used, but he also never confirmed that he would use THOSE monsters. Chances are we are getting hybridized variations of those concepts as completely new Kaiju.

Consider this next screengrab.

Godzilla_12

Are we still looking at Godzilla here?

I’ve been wondering about this particular image. There are sections that have red lighting on it, that hides itself within the red light of the flares. But if you look back at the screengrag I dropped of the ‘talon’ that folks speculate can belong to Rodan, Gigan, Kamacuras, or possibly a variation on all three. You’ll see the same red lighting profile on a section of the talon.

I know these Kaiju are huge, but this would be a beyond-enormous version of whichever monster it is reprising.

Godzilla_9

More individual rows of scales…

Debates whether or not something similar to Gamera appearing were fresh early on, while I don’t think anything like Gamera will be popping up in the film, I still wonder what I am looking at, when I see images like this one.

Then of course there is the last image I pulled so far from this trailer. An image that is a bit strange. But I wonder if I am looking at something that intends to date itself to the 1950’s or if I am looking at something that is modern.

Godzilla_10

Obvious old-school hydrogen bomb is obvious…but wait it has a Kaiju on it?”

When you compare this image to the image of the missiles carried by rail, you have to wonder if it is simply an image from a flashback. But if it is an image of a flashback, why does it have a Kaiju on it? Especially such a crappy image of a Kaiju at that. Think of roach spray…There are billions of roaches all over the world. When you see a picture of a roach with the universal symbol for “No” or “banned” over it, you understand that this is for killing roaches. That said how many Kaiju are known to be in existence? We hear Ken Watanabe’s character talking about what was done in 1954 to “kill it…” We also hear the dialogue state that the nuclear tests were a smoke screen. How long has this battle against Kaiju been running? Obviously we see the bone graveyard of a massive Kaiju. We also don’t know what the reddish/orange orbs I pointed out are, even though we all are thinking eggsacks…

What we have are amazing new questions to fuel the fire of fandom. If you haven't checked out the first piece with the screengrabs, find it HERE

Sound off below, let us know what you think, if you have new insight, or images to post. @EmanuelFCamacho

campblood - 2/25/2014, 6:55 PM
I'm liking these articles fun to read and getting hyped for the big guy
Shootzilla - 2/25/2014, 6:56 PM
I hope they got the license to other Toho monsters as well as Godzilla. When they were developing this movie, it was said that Toho Kingdom was very very hesitant to license out their monsters other than Godzilla for this film.
Shootzilla - 2/25/2014, 6:57 PM
It's also SCALES! not fringes.
dippinchipz - 2/25/2014, 6:58 PM
So hyped!!! The movie looks amazing as long as it remains without Matthew broderick.
blackandyellow - 2/25/2014, 7:00 PM
What the [frick] is WB doing wasting their time on a Godzilla movie when they should be making an Elongated Man movie.
MightyZeus - 2/25/2014, 7:00 PM
Kaiju on the Hydrogen Bomb?

What if Godzilla is a Pacific Rim prequel in disguise?

r0njeremy - 2/25/2014, 7:01 PM
there's also in the trailer you see and arm of a skinny giant insect like a praying mantis arm or leg in shot too.''
efcamachopmp - 2/25/2014, 7:01 PM
@shootzilla yeah yeah...lol I changed it to scales, thanks :P
Shootzilla - 2/25/2014, 7:05 PM
@efcamachopmp Np man, we all gotta bitch about something, it might as well be the little things.
MrCBM56 - 2/25/2014, 7:05 PM
Nice! They're going to make Godzilla an anti-hero. I dig it.
sexfoodcomics - 2/25/2014, 7:08 PM
Mothera or a mothra like created is in it. I saw it at the comic con footage. That's the thing that is destroying the airport in the last trailer, not Godzilla.
Shroombeast - 2/25/2014, 7:09 PM
After the movie it's going to be pretty funny to come back and read all the speculation that turned out to be inaccurate. I'm betting there's a lot of that in here.
Chekkarma - 2/25/2014, 7:10 PM
You forgot the thing falling from the sky into the water, looked like it had wings (1:32 into the railer, and the bat like wing slamming onto the ground at 2:07).I'm positive that a one of those creatures is Rodan.
campblood - 2/25/2014, 7:13 PM
@chek : that was in the first article
Scarilian - 2/25/2014, 7:13 PM
The movie focuses mostly on the bad-sides of using nuclear devices. Including an outbreak of 'Muto' Which are apparently similar to the insects in Cloverfield given they live on Godzilla's skin as parasites before attacking the city. Only monster's I'm aware of are the 'Muto' and a giant 'centipede like creature'

http://www.godzilla-movies.com/media...-footage-2.jpg

Though I did hear about a giant spider-creature which may be the Centipede which makes it seem like all the monsters in the movie are indirectly caused via Godzilla - given they used to be parasites on his skin.

The 'Muto' are also what the soldiers are after - as they discover a 'Muto' nest at 1:28 in the trailer.

Though their is one old-monster... At 1:32 an updated Rodan can be seen falling down from the sky into the water.
campblood - 2/25/2014, 7:14 PM
Godzilla represents America and dropping the bomb. clear and agreed upon metaphor
NightForce - 2/25/2014, 7:16 PM
YES I am 100% POSITIVE the flying creature is Rodan. It
1. Knocked the jets out of the sky from intense winds.
2. And it dove into the ocean. Why would some giant bug or whatever dive undersea? It's Rodan.
campblood - 2/25/2014, 7:19 PM
maybe big g and Rodan team up and take on a couple bug monsters rush hour style
campblood - 2/25/2014, 7:19 PM
Godzilla being chris rock of course
Missy - 2/25/2014, 7:19 PM
Any of you remembers this from the first trailer?

GenerationX - 2/25/2014, 7:24 PM
*scales
massdeath - 2/25/2014, 7:25 PM
Why is no one talking about the reveal that this film will be a SEQUEL to the original 1954 masterpiece Gojira? It says as much in the trailer. What a brilliant concept, IMHO. Can't wait!
Macas - 2/25/2014, 7:29 PM
r0njeremy - I totally thought the same thing. All of the pictures this guy posts are easily explainable. But that was the one picture in the trailer that is 100% not explained by anything Godzillaesque.
JoJo1982 - 2/25/2014, 7:32 PM
This movie is looking good
Inhuman - 2/25/2014, 7:34 PM
They need to use the old monsters. Enough with this hybrid crap. Bring them all back
Brady1138 - 2/25/2014, 7:37 PM
Did the writer of this article just forget that they said there wouldn't be any classic monsters in this besides Godzilla himself, but original adversaries?
hbk82287 - 2/25/2014, 7:40 PM
BEST thing they could do is introduce other monsters as well. Megalon and Gigan were always one of my favorite duos
efcamachopmp - 2/25/2014, 7:41 PM
@Bradley --- "If we go back to some of the early interviews with the director, he never denied that the OLD Toho monsters would be used, but he also never confirmed that he would use THOSE monsters. Chances are we are getting hybridized variations of those concepts as completely new Kaiju."

Missy - 2/25/2014, 7:50 PM
Most of those monsters will be mutos, the mutant insects that feed off Godzilla's radiation.

What bothers me is the fact that no one said anything about the girls shown in this image:

They are twins who accompany Mothra (a moth monster).

Hellboy6666 - 2/25/2014, 8:06 PM
The prettiest monster in the world! ^^^
ThrotTheUnclean - 2/25/2014, 8:07 PM
To me it looks like a leprechaun to me!
Darthrageracerzero - 2/25/2014, 8:10 PM
Please stop calling it kaiju I don't care about language but that's a pacific rim thing damn....and this looks better than pacific rim
Macas - 2/25/2014, 8:11 PM
Mikari, did you go through this trailer frame by frame? How on earth did you catch that?
Ranger14 - 2/25/2014, 8:12 PM
Not really a spoiler. It seemed pretty evident in the trailer to me that there were a couple other "monsters" other than Godzilla present in the footage.
Ocelot - 2/25/2014, 8:18 PM
The monster Godzilla fights at the airport is based on Kumonga.

The monster that is bringing down the jets is based on Rodan.

The monster that is laying the eggs in the city is based on Megaguirus.

Godzilla definitely fights the insectoid monsters, but the Rodan inspired one i'm not so sure.
beane2099 - 2/25/2014, 8:20 PM
As much as I would love to see Gigan, Mothra, Megalon and a host of others in the pantheon of Toho's finest it seems unlikely that any of those monsters are in this movie. Gareth Edwards made it pretty clear he wanted Godzilla to be the star attraction an that he would be facing new adversaries. More than that Toho doesn't just give out the licensing for their monsters. They charge a hefty price for it (see IDW and their attempts to get certain Toho monsters to the printed page). It's likely they do the same for movie rights. This is why I doubt we're getting Rodan or Gigan in this movie - but I would love to be wrong.

The monster in the Aircraft Carrier shot is definitely Godzilla. They released a poster of that same image a few months back. Seems odd that they would release a banner of another monster but I suppose stranger things have have happened.
yonny616 - 2/25/2014, 8:23 PM
I demand crossover! After all, they're both made by WB and Legendary.
