A brief new teaser for the new Apes flick just aired during the season 4 finale of The Walking Dead, and features some very nice new shots of Caesar and his hairy pals, along with an intriguing voice-over. Check it out after the jump.

A growing nation of genetically evolved apes led by Caesar is threatened by a band of human survivors of the devastating virus unleashed a decade earlier. They reach a fragile peace, but it proves short-lived, as both sides are brought to the brink of a war that will determine who will emerge as Earth’s dominant species.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is directed by Matt Reeves (Cloverfield, Let Me In), from a screenplay written by Mark Bomback, Scott Z. Burns, Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver. The cast includes: Andy Serkis (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty, Public Enemies, The Great Gatsby), Gary Oldman (The Dark Knight Rises, The Harry Potter film series), Keri Russell (The Americans, Mission Impossible III), Toby Kebbell (The Prince of Persia, Wrath of the Titans, Rock N Rolla), Kodi Smit-McPhee (Let Me In, ParaNorman), Enrique Murciano (Traffic, Black Hawk Down), Kirk Acevedo (The Thin Red Line) and Judy Greer (The Descendants, Three Kings, 13 Going on 30). The film hits theaters July 11, 2014

[frick]ing rad!!

i will never get sick of monkeys and apes riding horses. so bad ass.
even apes riding sharks isn't as good as horses.

this movie looks great. the first one did everything so well for the first 2/3rds i thought. but kinda went big and stupid the last 1/3rd.

seems like that's the problem a lot of times, they think these movies always have to end big and stupid and end up betraying the character of what they set up leading up to everything. i understand that it's a part of basic story structure to do that, i suppose. for some stuff, but there's ways of doing it honestly and there's ways of just going big and stupid. i'd have to see the movie again to really say for sure if the first one did that, but that's how i remember it happening.

Where there is fire, there is smoke. And in that smoke, from this day forward, my people will crouch, and conspire, and plot, and plan for the inevitable day of man's downfall, the day when he finally and self-destructively turns his weapons against his own kind. The day of the writing in the sky, when your cities lie buried under radioactive rubble! When the sea is a dead sea, and the land is a wasteland, out of which I will lead my people from their captivity! And we will build our own cities, in which there will be no place for humans, except to serve our ends! And we shall found our own armies, our own religion, our own dynasty! And that day is upon you...NOW!!

mattattack - 3/30/2014, 8:18 PM
Those horses are real @dioforioforio, there's even a BTS shot released showing so. Perhaps the true CGI is so good on the apes that you got mistaken.

Can someone tell me where the CGI needs work because I don't see it. The rendering of the effects in this clip looks fantastic!
Starfox - 3/30/2014, 8:42 PM
@SonOfStarKiller You will always here those kinds of things from people who have never worked with CGI or any computer graphics. IMO They Look Great!
