Legendary Pictures' GODZILLA May Start Filming As Soon As March; Reboot Loses Two Producers

Justice League producer Dan Lin and Oldboy producer Roy Lee have reportedly decided to exit the highly anticipated reboot of Godzilla, but it now appears as if the studio are committed to a March 2103 start date for the film. Read on for details!

According to HitFix, Legendary Pictures' upcoming reboot of Godzilla has lost two of its producers; Dan Lin (It, Justice League, Sherlock Holmes) and Roy Lee (Death Note, Oldboy, Poltergeist). As you can see from their credits, they're both working on various other remakes and reboots, but no specific reason for their departure has been revealed by the site at this time. However, they do mention that director Gareth Edwards recently impressed studio execs with a more detailed pitch about his vision for the film. They were in fact so taken with what they were shown that Godzilla reportedly now has a March 2013 start date. Despite concerns over similarities with Pacific Rim, the site has heard that, "Edwards is trying to ground his take on "Godzilla" in a very recognizable present-day." What do you guys make of this news? Sound off with your thoughts below!

A "Highly Anticipated" film that isn't coming out until 2103? Can any film sustain anticipation for that long?

That's a long way away.

"grounded take"?

As long as it is "Godzilla" and not something like the American 90s take "zilla".

infinite monkey, I would be severely disappointed if it was anything else. I always love me some "Gorgira" on a Saturday morning :-)

Get it done, already. And please, don't take 90 years to start it. That's how long it has felt already.

TOHO won't let Godzilla crossover with anything. Sad, but they're very strict when it comes to Godzilla.
GetsugaTensho22 - 1/7/2013, 8:45 AM
The only time they made an awesome Godzilla movie, the "fans" bashed the living hell out of it and basically destroyed any chance we're ever going to have for the property to NOT be a bumbling ballonish rubber suit wearing man jumping around fighting stupid villains like Mothra.

I must invent a time machine so I can get to 2103. I don't want to miss this.
