The story unfolds in a near future in which a hive-like alien race, called Mimics, have hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, shredding great cities to rubble and leaving millions of human casualties in their wake. No army in the world can match the speed, brutality or seeming prescience of the weaponized Mimic fighters or their telepathic commanders. But now the world’s armies have joined forces for a last stand offensive against the alien horde, with no second chances. Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously demoted and then dropped—untrained and ill-equipped—into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Cage is killed within minutes, managing to take an Alpha down with him. But, impossibly, he awakens back at the beginning of the same hellish day, and is forced to fight and die again…and again. Direct physical contact with the alien has thrown him into a time loop—dooming him to live out the same brutal combat over and over. But with each pass, Cage becomes tougher, smarter, and able to engage the Mimics with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Blunt), who has lain waste to more Mimics than anyone on Earth. As Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated battle becomes an opportunity to find the key to annihilating the alien invaders and saving the Earth.

Edge Of Tomorrow is being directed by Doug Liman (“The Bourne Identity,” “Mr. & Mrs. Smith”) from a screenplay written by Dante Harper, Christopher McQuarrie and Joby Harold, based on the novel "All You Need Is Kill" by Hiroshi Sakurazaka. The film stars: Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt, Bill Paxton, Jonas Armstrong (BBC’s “Robin Hood”), Tony Way, Kick Gurry, Franz Drameh, and Charlotte Riley. The film will hit theaters June 6, 2014.

I could have sworn 'Edge of Tomorrow' was the name of a long running Soap Opera from the '50s to till the '80s.

What show am I thinking about?
Tony93 - 4/21/2014, 10:23 AM
that title reminds me of the 90s
Nomis - 4/21/2014, 10:29 AM

Between the change from 'All You Need is Kill' to 'Edge of Tomorrow' and 'How to Catch a Monster' to 'Lost River,' I dunno which was made more drab sounding.

aRandomSinisterClone - 4/21/2014, 10:44 AM

That sword is badass. I fully expect a one on one fight scene with Blunt and another hot chick or big brutish dude.

This movie looks freaking awesome
Nomis - 4/21/2014, 10:51 AM
@ Gusto - Say what you want, old man. but some of the BEST actors ever came out of Soap Operas.

"The Hoff" began his acting career playing Dr. William "Snapper" Foster Jr. on The Young and the Restless
KingPatel - 4/21/2014, 10:53 AM
I have a feeling this movie is going to be good, trailers have been great, I just don't like the release date. There's going to be heavy competition, so it might suffer domestically, unless it has absolutely terrific word of mouth, but I'm just hoping Cruise's box office appeal overseas makes it a success regardless.
Nappa - 4/21/2014, 10:56 AM
My favorite Soap Opera is Arrow

InfiniteMonkey - 4/21/2014, 10:57 AM
I'm surprise Tom's character's name was not changed to Jack.

Never have I seen a bloke with so many movies and a tonne of them he was named Jack. LOL

Emily could use a good bang.

@ShadowPimp723 , this movie isn't going to be as great as its manga counterpart " All You Need Is Kill ".
that is the reason they changed the name of this movie to " Edge of Tomorrow ". kinda pisses me off that Hollywood is deliberately destroying and ripping off japanese anime, manga, and korean films. Snowpiecer was an awesome movie, it was directed by a korean. After losing all hope for original films, expect CBMS of course, i dipped my fingers into korean films on netflix. since then, except CBMS i haven't watched a movie made in America since. Just give it a try, but have an open mind, because when u start, u won't be able to stop. When i heard that " Old Boy "
was being remade by Spike Lee, I threw my remote into the wall, u can't remake a movie then rename it after yourself. the original is extremely better. Korean films aren't afraid to kill kids, sell organs, use kids as drug mules, all the stuff thats watered down here. but once u read the original All You Need is Kill, you will know that automatically Tom Cruise is totally miscast, and Especially Emily Blut. In the manga the protagonist is 19yrs. old and Rita " The FullMetal Bitch " from america is 17yrs. old. Most ppl aren't going to care, and watch the movie just because it looks Fresh, but i am telling you, there are films and plots that you've never dreamed before in Korea. The films usually runs 2hrs.+ with 1 plot but 13 twists. and its amazing. if any of u have netflix, i would suggest u watch " The Man From Nowhere " , " Old Boy ", " I Saw The Devil " , " Bedeviled", " The Chaser ", " Quick " , and " Missing ". it just upsets me that some of these original movies are being bastardized by Hollywood. I mean Hunger Games is a rip off of the japanese movie Battle Royale. i could make a list, but i am tired of typing. after reading the book of " All You Need is Kill ", i don't think i could personally enjoy a watered down version of something i know. all of this is of course my opinion.
