New ENDER'S GAME Full-Length Trailer Is Not A Game!

X-Men Origins: Wolverine's director, Gavin Hood, tries his best to not ruin Orson Scott Card’s beloved 1985 sci-fi novel, Ender’s Game. Hit the jump to check out the new full-length trailer for the film adaptation, starring Asa Butterfield.

ENDER'S GAME, directed by Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), and the cast includes: Asa Butterfield, Ben Kingsley, Harrison Ford, Hailee Steinfeld, Abigail Breslin and Viola Davis. Coming to theaters November 1, 2013!

In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer.

Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite. Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the military’s next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, he’s trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.

I can't wait to see this. As long as they stick to the book this should be good.

Maybe Gavin Hood can redeem himself from the hugely awful X Men Origins.

I have a bad feeling that this film is going to do to Ender's Game what the Starship Troopers film(s) did to Heinlein's classic.

Hater's gonna hate. This film looks freaking amazing.

There were what, two shots of the Battle Room?

These trailers are really focusing on the wrong part. It looks like these kids are in command of the fleet for the whole movie.

If the movie gets it right, it's fine, but I think a lot of newcomers are going to get the wrong impression and/or the ending will not be the Earth-shattering surprise it was in the book.

@ItsClobberinTime "I have a bad feeling that this film is going to do to Ender's Game what the Starship Troopers film(s) did to Heinlein's classic. "

You mean be completely different but awesome in it's own way?

Gavin good did a good job directing xmen origins . The story sucked. The ending sucked. And the lack of ACTUAL costumes sucked! But not the direction

Looks good to me... Will see this on OW...

Hope this turns out good! The book is an incredible read, very meaningful and such, but seems here like they're trying to make the ending so clear. Big part of the book was literally seeing it all as a game, with only hints that it was maybe something bigger, which wasn't shown until the end.

Really think they're focusing the trailers on the wrong parts. Focus on the battle rooms, focus on the training, focus on the previous two battles and hint at something else going on, else the ending has no where near the impact it did in the book.

Looks decent though, hope Hood's done well, the book deserves a great adaptation.

They are probably giving away the twist so that they can show us all those great visuals. If they were more faithful to the book, we might only be treated to indoor holograms. It would be harder to keep the secret from us, the omnipotent audience. It is probably a good choice for the medium of film.

Think Game of Thrones Barristan Selmy. On film they can't keep his identity a secret because we recognize him. Some of the best adaptations have to do this stuff.

I'm pumped. I think it looks great and I think the casting for Ender might work out well.

ill be seeing this definitly. looks like alot of fun.

I have a pretty strong feeling that they are changing quite a bit from the book. I don't think this is a bad thing though. I only recently read it and while I was reading, I was thinking at certain points that they could "just leave this out for the screen". I will say what they've done with the game room looks really good. That's not how I imagined it; but what they've done is so much better.

"Hater's gonna hate."

Jesus, another film people want to moan about having too much CGi.

When visual FX first got used in film back the day, people thought it was black magic.

When they started using models on strings and people in make up, people thought it was amazing.

When they started using stop motion picture and matte paintings, people thought stuff on strings and people in costumes were laughable and cheesy.

When they started using animatronics and blue screen people thought the age of everything model based was finished.

When Star Wars stuck multiple elements on screen with its computer controlled camera and optical printers it sparked a whole new era of FX laden movies using every old trick people thought long dead.

Then came CGI, computer images so real it put traditional matte paintings, stop motion imagery, plasticy model work, men in costumes and animatronics all in the "cheesy to look at" category with models on strings and fire-cracker explosions.

No matter how much better CGI looks and how much its opened up the imagination of things that could not be made before even for insane budgets, people who grew up watching stuff with old effects still complain about it being used at all because like all sad fanboys they want everything to stay the way it was when they were a kid.

Move on!

Gavin Hood. 'nuff said. NO THANKS.
Tainted87 - 8/6/2013, 1:21 PM
Harrison Ford sounds so tired. And his narration/dialogue with Ender sounds like he's reading from a page. Considering he's the only reason why I'd be watching it, it's not looking good.
ItsClobberinTime - 8/6/2013, 4:47 PM
@AvatarIII I guess maybe they could be considered awesome in a MST3K sort of way.
Grayson7954 - 8/6/2013, 4:51 PM
the cgi actually sucks
CaptainObvious - 8/6/2013, 6:42 PM
I don't blame Hood so much for Wolverine. Mostly because there was alot of studio interference. As for Ender's Game, the trailers haven't impressed me so far. I read the book when I was a freshman in high school so maybe I'll check it out.
CaptainTumeria - 8/6/2013, 9:59 PM
I've been waiting for this movie for 15 years, and it looks AWESOME!!

If you've read the book, you already know how it's going to end. I've heard that this movie has taken so long to produce because Orson Scott Card was painstakingly involved in the script-writing process.

Loved the books and the graphic novel. This is going to be awesome!
