New PACIFIC RIM Trailer Proves That Childhood Dreams Do Come True

What's that? You thought we've seen every possible trailer for Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim? Well, you thought wrong. Come check out yet another trailer for the giant robots versus giant monsters film, with snippets of fresh footage.

PACIFIC RIM SYNOPSIS - When legions of monstrous creatures, known as Kaiju, started rising from the sea, a war began that would take millions of lives and consume humanity’s resources for years on end. To combat the giant Kaiju, a special type of weapon was devised: massive robots, called Jaegers, which are controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are locked in a neural bridge. But even the Jaegers are proving nearly defenseless in the face of the relentless Kaiju. On the verge of defeat, the forces defending mankind have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes-a washed up former pilot (Charlie Hunnam) and an untested trainee (Rinko Kikuchi)-who are teamed to drive a legendary but seemingly obsolete Jaeger from the past. Together, they stand as mankind’s last hope against the mounting apocalypse.

Pacific Rim was directed by Guillermo del Toro, from a script written by Travis Beacham. The cast includes Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Ron Perlman, Max Martini, Robert Kazinsky, Clifton Collins, Jr., Burn Gorman, Larry Joe Campbell, Diego Klattenhoff, and Brad William Henke. In theaters July 12, 2013!

RJ4651 - 7/7/2013, 11:19 PM
Finally, a good trailer for this movie. And if I'm going to see it, I'll definitely be seeing it in 3D.
seantwakafilmyguy - 7/7/2013, 11:26 PM
I want aaaall of it! I want it out right now!!!
TheAntiGrif - 7/7/2013, 11:27 PM
There's no way there are shirtless scenes in this right? My lady will gush so much at every shirtless scene the whole theatre feels like im in Titanic as it sinks. She better not ruin this movie for me too
Destroyer14 - 7/7/2013, 11:27 PM
Well that just defines awesome.
TheAntiGrif - 7/7/2013, 11:30 PM
This may be the only 3D movie i've seen and want to see since TAS. Which oddly enough my lady didnt gush at but asked why i'm not that flexible. Do i look like the amazing spiderman to but she wants me to be As buff as Cavill, Tall as Hemsworth, and Flexible and Durable like Garfield. Bullshit i say to her
Maia87 - 7/7/2013, 11:31 PM
That's some agressive marketing right here.
TheAntiGrif - 7/7/2013, 11:32 PM
@TankD whose this Levi i am into the female gender. Shirtless scenes i dont care about but when i make date nights with comic book movies she seems to gawk at every shirtless man. I am scared as hell for the Day i take her to see The Wolverine. She Will Drown the theatre. Ill bring a wet suit goggle and an oxygen tank just incase
TheAntiGrif - 7/7/2013, 11:36 PM
Ohhh Sweet Trailer Btw. Im curious will it be like Sym-Bionic Titan where the artificial intelligence if there is any has input or is it just the two minds. If I and Jennifer Lawrence shared a jaieger, lets just say the Term "Mind [frick]" would be used quite literally.
krauzerthe2nd - 7/7/2013, 11:38 PM
This movie features GLaDOS, that is all
SageMode - 7/7/2013, 11:39 PM
[frick]ing awesome.
TheAntiGrif - 7/7/2013, 11:43 PM
@TankD You dont seem to understand my old lady really bothers me when we go on date night and all i have to hear is...Superman is so buff. So why arent you. Her constant gawking is not appreciated I love her but these movies may just not be a good idea when I take her home. Cuz all she wants to see is Cavill. [frick]!! Damn these movie trainers!
Tony93 - 7/7/2013, 11:44 PM
I have a hunch.. that scene where hes standing outside o the jager and looking at the monster he probably thinks hes going to die, but once the monster starts to attack the robot comes to life on its own without pilots.. and saves them, that be pretty sick
TheAntiGrif - 7/7/2013, 11:45 PM
Will Jesus ascend from the heavens durring this movie because this just may be my most favorite fantasy movie. Its not based on a comic book so i cant say CBM but this looks so bad ass
Mike89 - 7/7/2013, 11:46 PM
Nice! cant wait to see this. :)
Spidey91 - 7/7/2013, 11:53 PM

maybe the soul of his mother is inside the robot :P
SageMode - 7/7/2013, 11:54 PM
Hope Charlie Hunnam gets gotten for Iron Fist.

Was that a nuclear blast the Jaeger was shielding itself from?!?

Ok more than sold at this point. Will be seeing this next weekend for sure. After I see Man of Steel for the 6th and 7th time during the week.
OnePunchBaldy - 7/8/2013, 1:04 AM
I watched it last night. Honestly, it's one of my favorite movies of the summer at the moment. The Kaiju battles are so intense and honestly are unpredictable! It's so badass, it's like it just pays tribute to Gundam, Big O, Power Rangers, Evangelion and Eureka Seven (some of the designs of the Jaeger's pay homage to those).

Kanye West was right. This is NOT just another robot movie, there's a lot more to it as well.
quas666 - 7/8/2013, 1:27 AM
TankD is a dickhead I understood exactly what TheAntiGrif was saying
But there always has to be a [frick]ing smartass

Btw super cool trailer!

This movie is going to be awesome and it's going to deliver it.
Jollem - 7/8/2013, 2:47 AM
^i'm going to assume from the lack of epic rdjr. one-liners :)
bretticus21 - 7/8/2013, 3:18 AM
Ummm... looks like somebody or something ripped off the anime series "Evangelion" - I mean, why didn't they just make an Evangelion movie in the first place?
autobot - 7/8/2013, 5:01 AM
Did this remind anyone of Portal 2 Multiplayer? or is it just me?
Sitterson - 7/8/2013, 5:07 AM
This is going to be one of the greatest movies ever! I have never been more excited for a film, and just a few more days! :D
ATrueHero1987 - 7/8/2013, 5:13 AM
They already sold me on this movie a long time ago. I will see this on July 13, I just hope the 3D is good( yes, I will see this in RealD 3D)!!
Sitterson - 7/8/2013, 5:20 AM
@bretticus This is not a ripoff of Evagelion. First off NGE was made to be a deconstruction of the sub-genre that has been around for a long time. It was not the first thing to have giants piloted by people to fight monsters. If this is a ripoff of NGE, then NGE is a ripoff of many, many things.

Secondly, Guillermo has gone on record saying many times that this film is a love letter to the giant monster movies that he watched as a child, as well as anime that he liked. He has never seen Evangelion, and quite frankly they have almost nothing in common. Besides the neural connection with the EVA's, and giant monsters that look nothing like the Kaiju of this film. There aren't even any giant mechas in Evangelion anyway, and the story and characters are quite different.

MexicanSexyman - 7/8/2013, 5:21 AM
@ MrMartinMarvel, because you didn't have childhood.

@ bretticus, how is it a ripoff when the movie is inspired by many other things then evangelion.
LEVITIKUZ - 7/8/2013, 5:47 AM
Once again Trollem with a RDJ diss.

Dude you are pathetic.
TheBoss117 - 7/8/2013, 6:06 AM
Def gotta go IMAX with this one
Ramiel - 7/8/2013, 7:08 AM
This trailer reeks of desperation. So far, the movie has been getting average reviews.
mctrinket - 7/8/2013, 7:15 AM
I so want this to be good. Are there any reviews out yet from people who have see the film?
Benjamitesandwich - 7/8/2013, 7:21 AM

Actually, it's been getting really good reviews.
Ramiel - 7/8/2013, 7:26 AM

So getting reviews that say "one of the better dumbass sci-fi movies", "big and dumb", and "something's missing" is good? Those sound average to me. At least, it's still postive on both RT and Metacritic.
Benjamitesandwich - 7/8/2013, 7:32 AM

Going in all things considered, it's easy to draw the negative reviews out from the positive ones, even when there are more positive than negative. Also, any negative review states their expectations weren't met. Did they really believe a movie like this could be Oscar worthy? Heck, I'm stoked for this movie for the fact that it looks like incredible fun.
sarahsatire - 7/8/2013, 7:39 AM
Yes. My money shall be yours Del Toro~
