SDCC '13: Glorious New HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE Trailer Has Arrived

A brand new trailer for Francis Lawrence's The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has debuted at San Diego Comic-Con. Hit the jump to see the return of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence).

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a "Victor's Tour" of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) - a competition that could change Panem forever.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE is directed by Francis Lawrence, and produced by Nina Jacobson’s Color Force in tandem with producer Jon Kilik. The novel on which the film is based is the second in a trilogy that has over 50 million copies in print in the U.S. alone. Opens on November 22, 2013.

This trailer looks great. I might actually see this!
claybo4131 - 7/20/2013, 2:19 PM
One of the biggest plot twists was in the trailer, as well as another if you didnt catch on if you had not read the book. At least they didnt show any arena action scenes, which are very intense in the book and in the arena you will have to be on the run big time.
WinterAvenger - 7/20/2013, 2:22 PM
This what a I called a trailer
claybo4131 - 7/20/2013, 2:22 PM
I forgot to mention, you will see in this film how demonic, pure, and diabolically evil President Snow truly is.
malekithdude - 7/20/2013, 2:22 PM
This looks so good! The last one was excellent but this looks so much better!
PeterGreyson - 7/20/2013, 2:23 PM
Just absolutely amazing. Gave me shivers when I heard the whistle at the end.

im getting really sick of yahoo movies only putting their stuff up in 360p though.
tzxfgl - 7/20/2013, 2:25 PM
is that the actor who plays Aquaman from Smallville? So cool!
SnapperCarr - 7/20/2013, 2:26 PM
[frick] this shit. SUPERMAN/BATMAN!!!
ParisSun - 7/20/2013, 2:30 PM
Sorry SnapperCarr but you can be interested in more than one thing unless you are a pathetic fanboy.
marvel72 - 7/20/2013, 2:31 PM
looks as bad as the first movie.

F*ck this teenage girl shit!
claybo4131 - 7/20/2013, 2:35 PM

Teenage girl shit? 40% of the audience on opening weekend for the first movie was male, comparedto the average of 15% for all the Twilight movies. Twilight was teen romance stuff.

Hunger Games this time around is doing former winners, basically an All Star Hunger Games, shes going up against the best of the best, even someone at 80 is in the games (Mags) again.

Also wait till Mockingjay, which has more brutality in it

Ramiel - 7/20/2013, 2:49 PM
Looks better than the first one. First one was meh.
MexicanSexyman - 7/20/2013, 2:53 PM
Good trailer. The first movie is decent, and I'm looking forward to this movie especially because of The Master.
marvel72 - 7/20/2013, 3:02 PM
@ claybo4131

hey if this shit floats your boat go ahead & knock yourself out,but to me after watching the first movie its just a love triangle story with the odd act of violence so it pleases the male crowd.

pure shite to me.
Havensent - 7/20/2013, 3:07 PM
Haters can go suck an egg. This looks legit good as hell. Will see.
EasternWind - 7/20/2013, 3:10 PM
That is incredible! This is going to be an awesome year for movies :)
claybo4131 - 7/20/2013, 3:11 PM

Love traingle, ok well lets see in the first movie Gale was in it for what 20 minutes tops, and is a non factor really till the 3rd book. Katniss was faking her relationship with Peeta to please the audience, she doesnt want a boyfriend, she doesnt want a relationship, I guess you forgot the part where she said "Im never having kids" translated to you.

There are so many other storylines in the series its not a love story. Is there romance in it, yes, but everything has romance in it, every comic book superhero has a love interest, but you never hear people complain all the time about Superman/Lois Lane or Spiderman/Mary Jane Watson or Hal Jordan/Carol Ferris, think about it.

Lionsgate is the one laughing all the way to the bank when the film made 5 times its production budget
Wallymelon - 7/20/2013, 3:12 PM
so as a dude that absolutley hated the hunger games, this shit looks siiick.
marvel72 - 7/20/2013, 3:18 PM
@ claybo4131

i've forgotten most of the first movie but this pretty much sums up the movie.

claybo4131 - 7/20/2013, 3:21 PM

Moot point, they did that for Avengers, Dark KNight Rises, Avatar, The Hobbit, and all blockbuster films, nice try
SnapperCarr - 7/20/2013, 3:27 PM
@ParisSun I enjoyed the first one, but found the book to be way better.
TheSonicScrew - 7/20/2013, 3:33 PM
@marvel72 if all you got out of the first movie was a 'love triangle' then yeah, this series is really not for you, because that's not what the first book/movie is about IN THE SLIGHTEST
REDSTORM - 7/20/2013, 3:53 PM
Teenage movie or not, I'd watch anything with Jennifer Lawrence in it.
Bark4Soul - 7/20/2013, 4:02 PM
Yeeeeeeeeeeeep ^^^^

The books and story actually isnt that bad, it's something right out of some Bendis Marvel stuff. Most dudes on here cant "like" it because it has a chick as the main protagonist, it's okay ego-bos and swag-kids...
claybo4131 - 7/20/2013, 4:07 PM

I think you hit the nail on the head, I think they dont quite like it cause it has a chick as the main hero and she ends up becoming the symbol of an uprising, though she is reluctant and hesitant and had no intentions in the beginning of doing it. People also want to find a reason to hate it just because and cant get a straight answer on why they hate it.
manymade1 - 7/20/2013, 4:15 PM
@ SnapperCarr

LMAO. I was waiting for this trailer, but after the Superman/Batman announcement, it's hard to get excited about anything else.
Swiftsword777 - 7/20/2013, 4:18 PM
Great books good movies
stuntman180 - 7/20/2013, 4:19 PM
@marvel72 eh, you didn't read the books therefore you don't understand this whole hunger games phenomenon appealing to young adults both males and females.
ndwwrestler2 - 7/20/2013, 4:25 PM
I liked the first one, although it wasn't as good as I thought it would be.

Hope this one has more action in it, this time around.
MrReese - 7/20/2013, 4:43 PM

Nubase - 7/20/2013, 4:51 PM

eddyxx - 7/20/2013, 5:28 PM
This looks EPIC! Movie of the year here guys.
pro346 - 7/20/2013, 5:57 PM
The first one was plagued by shaky cam and appalling special effects...will this one be the same?
WinterAvenger - 7/20/2013, 6:03 PM
@Pro346 I doubt they'll use the shaky cam and special effects don't worry the special effects crew from "The Avengers" will do the scenes which I'm [frick]ing glad they went with them
dkhager - 7/20/2013, 6:42 PM

Meh. The first one was okay, not really my thing.

This is meh too, i'll probably watch it VOD like the last one.
Facade - 7/20/2013, 7:07 PM
Utterly disappointed by the 1st movie.
Pooh - 7/20/2013, 8:25 PM
Looks great, but I wish they'd introduced a couple of the victors, like Johanna and Finnick, instead of just referring to them as "experienced killers".
